Fang and the other eleven Magis rushed as fast as they could back to their territory.
The distance from the Giant Shadow Werewolf territory back to Skull town would have taken up to two days by ship pulled along by mutated animals, but because of their bat-like wings, they shortened that distance to a mere few hours.
And just like that, they had rushed into their territory.
Demons should not be able to enter a Magi's territory.
This is a common fact.
It was as common as throwing a stone in the air and expecting it to fall back to the ground.
This was the only natural cause of things.
So it came as an absolute surprise that they received word that a demon had infiltrated their territory.
Without a moment to waste, they darted through the port. Along the way, they could see the destruction, blood, and gut scattered everywhere as far as the eyes could see.
Although the dead bodies were few, like someone moved them, the red stain of organs littered all around was evidence of the attack.
It was a brutal sight.
These Magi did not know that it was the work of submachine guns with big, thick bullets charging through bodies with so much force that one could fetch a small bucket of meat behind the unfortunate victims.
Surprisingly, it was only the Magi body parts they found lying about the place.
There was no civilian in the town who was hurt.
However, it was seen that many people hid in their houses and at different corners in fear.
Up ahead was the school.
With how large it was, it could be seen even from the port area.
They zoomed through the air, their bat-like wings flapping vigorously. Fang in particular was nervously fast, as his son had informed him of his uprooted arm.
Like any father worried about the safety of his child, his heart raced with trepidation.
From the distance, they could clearly see that the forcefield was up.
This was a good sign, and it made their hearts ease up a little, but that did not mean that all was well.
However, on getting closer, the first thing they saw was the huge serpent, dead on one side, with a huge chunk of it clearly carved out.
And then at a table were two men, having finished a big pot of soup with mutated serpent meat. The smell of it still lingered in the air.
One look at them, and one could tell that something was not right. These people were gisting and laughing loudly while death was littered about them.
However, Fang could not help but furrow his brows; after all, as a senior magi, he had met demons before, but these two looked very human.
It was only after he came close enough did he sense the Darkline magic in Perseus's body.
"Half-borns?" Fang's frown got deeper.
Half-borns were only half demons, and therefore the Pact did not apply to them.
Then again, their kind was not in existence in the world when it was made.
On seeing them, the students cheered for the arrival of their saviors.
Bob, in particular, shouted ceaselessly for Fang to teach Lenny and Perseus a lesson.
Fang could see his son missing an arm. Evidently, all he had heard was true.
Lenny, on the other hand, gave the stories, and Perseus laughed heartily at them.
Gladiators were always an unruly bunch, with a general lack of manners.
Perseus, being one, behaved as such; he laughed without a care in the world, smacking his thigh and even kicking a head in the ground in the process.
Just then, Lenny sighted the arrival of the guests in the sky.
The moment his eyes traced to them, so did Perseus's.
"Hey, you guys are late. We waited for you for hours, but you took too much time, so we just finished the pot of snake soup." Lenny waved at them as he explained.
Perseus, on the other hand, got ready for a fight.
"Half-borns! Were you the ones that hurt my subordinates?" Fang talked with a deep frown, his fist molded so tightly that green veins appeared on his skin.
"That would be me, please!" Lenny raised his hand like an excited child about to be rewarded for his hard work.
"How dare you!?" Fang's voice thundered loudly. "Do you know who we are? Do you know who..."
"You work for?" Lenny finished his statement, "Let me guess, some big shot demon. Maybe some noble of some family... blah blah blah! Am I right?"
Fang was left tongue-tied.
However, Fang suddenly felt as if something was amiss.n0veluSb.C0m
After all, it was common knowledge that half-borns only existed within the arenas run by demons.
"Did the demons send these half-borns?" Fang thought to himself.
A long time ago, at the birth of half-borns, demons saw that their existence created a loophole within the rules, and with them, it was possible to attack witches territories.
Unfortunately, Gladiators ended up being too weak to face Magi, and those that attacked were easily killed.
However, it made both Magi and Witches understand that such a possibility for half-borns to come kill them on behalf of their demon masters was possible.
And so many witches and Maggi made subsidiary pacts with different demons of high standing within society.
These were mainly pacts made with aristocratic demon families, prompted by survival.
Only rogues or some strong witches like Ciri did not engage in such hustles for survival.
Unknown to the witches or Magi, half-borns did not and were not allowed to become too strong and were used like disposable cups.
Those that were allowed to live long enough were forced into methods that changed their entire physiology to that of Demons, such as the method Cuban used.
Nevertheless, fear was a strong propelling force, and it made even those with power slaves once more.
Lenny only needed to look at Fang's face a bit to confirm the truth of what he just said.
Ironically, it was just a random guess.
Fang frowned. He suddenly waved his hands at the school, and the forcefield vibrated a little.
