Monthly Report on Lunar Day

On lunar day. Sheila, dressed in her simple plain clothes, went to the carriage stop as usual.

The blue sky spread out overhead, and a small mountain peaked out to the east. The academy was built in the suburbs of a noble town, so nature remained here and there.

As she walked up that mountain, wondering if she could replenish the herbs she had used, she arrived at the carriage stop.

The carriage was already waiting for Sheila. It was always a shame to see such a magnificent carriage. She felt uncomfortable because she could see the other students staring at her with astonished eyes. Sheila quickly got into the carriage so as not to be seen.

“I still think it’s a waste for a commoner like me to be picked up by a horse-drawn carriage…”

When she muttered while resting her body on the seat, Lulu, who was riding with her, let out a giggle.

“I don’t think Felix-sama would allow you to walk alone on foot.”

“Yes, but… Anyway, Lulu. Long time no see.”

“It’s been a long time, Miss. I am relieved to see you haven’t changed at all.”

After being rocked by the carriage for a while, they finally approached a familiar large mansion.

“Welcome home, Miss.”

Accompanied by Richard, who greeted her, they first visited Felix’s room.

“I’m home broth―no, Felix.”

When she popped into the office, the transparent silver-haired nobleman showed a smile sweeter than honey.

“Welcome back, Sheila. My cute little sister still can’t get used to the change in the way she calls her brother, can she?”

“I didn’t see you for a while, so I revert back. I’ve even gotten used to calling myself ‘I.’”[1]

It had been a long time since she’d felt Felix’s overflowing love. She was a little embarrassed that the voice calling her name was so sweet.

“Come on, let’s enjoy a cup of tea first. I can’t keep working when Sheila is home.”

“Are you done with your work?”

“Don’t worry, I’ve already finished all the urgent work.”

In the dining room, Lulu was already preparing for tea. The white porcelain tea set and a beautiful cake stand with a delicate lace pattern. Bite-sized strawberry cakes, tarts, madeleines, and florentines were beautifully lined up there.

“Wow, they look delicious!”

“I prepared a lot of sweets for Sheila.”

“Thank you, Felix!”

A sweet milk tea was placed in front of Sheila. Felix was straightforward. The tea party began in a friendly atmosphere.

“Mmm, this cream-filled stuff is delicious.”

“It’s called cream puffs. It seems to be a popular pastry in the royal capital these days.”

Not wanting to miss out on the happiness in her mouth, Sheila nodded repeatedly without saying a word. Felix looked at her lovingly.

Lulu watched the siblings’ blissful moment with a smile, while Richard sighed in dismay.

After Sheila finished eating all the sweets, Felix got down to business.

“Now then, I’d like you to give me a report. I hope it’s not all bad for my heart like last time.”

“Uhh.”

The week before last, she had to deal with a lot of anxiety because of all the blunders that she had done when she entered the school. Last week, she had a little trouble with the son of a noble.

There was a group of people who were blatantly disdainful of the commoners, which didn’t particularly bother Sheila, if that was all. However, they didn’t want to be exposed to the same weapons as the commoners in a class where they were learning about the different types and capabilities of weapons. It was a little disconcerting to see it so blatantly obvious. She was also angry that they were holding up the class.

Still, both Zechs and Bert had been patient, and she was desperately trying to bear it, knowing that she couldn’t let their hard work go to waste by getting angry at this point, but it wasn’t a good idea.

Apparently, because of her pent-up frustration, that feeling had turned into murderous intent and surfaced. The aristocratic group became frightened and useless, and the class became more and more chaotic.

“That certainly wasn’t a good idea…. I’m sorry.”

When she dropped her shoulders and apologized, Felix smiled wryly.

“Well, it’s kind of like a habit for you. Even when you were hunting, you used to let out your bloodlust when dealing with small animals that roamed nearby and kill them when they were unable to move. In the same way, you must have unintentionally sent out your killing intent to the son of a nobleman.”

“I see…. I wondered why myself, but I guess that’s what it was.”

“Oh, you didn’t notice? You’re so silly.”

Felix’s delicate fingertips tapped her forehead. Sheila giggled.

In front of the sweet sight, Richard’s eyes became cloudy as if they had lost their light. He was painfully aware that this kind of pampering from his master had severely stunted Sheila’s growth.

“But I think this week has gone by without much trouble. I’m getting better at thinking things through and avoiding trouble.”

Sheila said happily after taking a sip of her milk tea.

There was a competency test and she had a match with three of them. The first match that she won was against Seiryu, the most senior student. The second match was against Regress, who didn’t like her to begin with, but she seemed to have made him even angrier and he ran off with a bright red face. That was probably a point deduction.

Then, she managed to win against Leidyrune, who was injured. She seemed to have made peace with him and he offered to heal her injuries. She was able to properly decline the offer because she was afraid of making a mistake against a nobleman. By the way, she didn’t tell him about Claushezade, who made her realize how rude he was. Even Sheila wanted to be praised once in a while.

Sheila watched Felix’s reaction with excitement. He smiled gently and remained motionless like a statue.

Huh? Just when she thought that, a bad feeling ran up her neck.

“…. And then?”

“Eh?”

“And you claim you haven’t done anything wrong, have you?”

Her brother’s smile shone like an icy flower blooming in freezing temperatures.

“The Mifune family is a prestigious family that has produced many knights, even though they are commoners. Unfortunately, the current head of the Mifune family lacks military prowess, but it is rumored that his eldest son may be knighted in the future if he achieves military success. Although he is in the general course, he has already been offered the position of commander of a patrol corps after graduation.”

“Hehh. He is a great guy, isn’t he, Seiryu-senpai?”

“You won against Seiryu Mifune, you know. I think he was taking it easy on you because you were playing against a fourth-year student.”

Sheila gently straightened her posture at the nonchalant tone of his words. This was the third consecutive week she was scolded by Felix.

Lulu also understood and began to put away the dishes quickly.

“The next family is the Olbrandts. Count Olbrandt is a talented diplomat with strong ties to other countries, and I hear that his power within the country is not to be underestimated, even though he is a count. Regress Olbrandt is his only child. He is famous for being so caring that it doesn’t hurt to look him in the eye, but he is a diplomat and has been trained strictly on the social side. But what could have caused him to turn red and run away? I’d love to know what in the world could have caused such a situation.”

“Urm….”

“Not to mention the Centrix family. I told you all last week, didn’t I? Don’t get involved with the duke’s family. If you must get involved, treat them with the utmost caution… Oh dear, it seems my lovely sister had left with everything falling out of her ears. It seems I’ll have to take a longer, harsher, and more persistent and loving approach to make sure this is never forgotten again.”

“I-i won’t be stubborn….”

Seeing his trembling sister, Felix smiled lovingly.

“Even if you don’t like it, it’s because I care for you.”

The way he looked at Sheila, however, was that of a bird of prey. His ferocious eyes told her that he won’t let his prey escape.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Richard and the others quietly leaving the room. Sheila realized that she couldn’t count on their help.

“Nooooo!!!”

Richard and Lulu gently closed the dining room door to the echoing screams of Sheila.
