After hanging up the phone, Wang Chao checked the time and without wasting any words, he went straight to take a shower, taking off his security guard uniform and tossing it into the laundry basket for the cleaning staff to wash and return.

Next, he changed into his own clothes and carefully examined himself in the mirror.

Hmm, he looked quite masculine and handsome.

Once everything was done, he didn't stay idle. He walked around the company, patrolling the premises.

If there were any issues with the equipment anywhere, he noted them down one by one.

After completing the patrol of all the floors, fifty minutes had passed. He walked directly to the entrance of Shen Bing's office and waited quietly.

There were still ten minutes before the end of work, and Shen Bing was still busy, signing many documents.

The pile of documents on her desk was like a mountain, all waiting for her signature.

Not long after, Shen Bing walked out.

She was dressed in a casual and capable off-white suit, which contrasted with her fair skin, making her look even more delicate.

She looked at Wang Chao and said lightly, "Have you been waiting for long?"

"Not too long, just arrived. Where are we going?" Wang Chao asked.

Shen Bing looked at the time on her watch and said, "It's already past six. Let's have dinner first."

"After dinner, we'll head to Conghua."

"What project is it? Why do we need to go at night?" Wang Chao was puzzled.

"It's just a small project for the company."

Shen Bing let out a long breath and said, "Wang Chao, do you know any good places to eat? I'm hungry and want something delicious."

Wang Chao stood up and said, "Sure, I'll take you to a really delicious place. I guarantee you'll love it."

"Great, I'm looking forward to it," Shen Bing smiled.

The two got out of the car, with Wang Chao driving, heading straight to the entrance of a university in Conghua District and parking the car.

"What are we doing here?" Shen Bing looked astonished.

"We're here to eat," Wang Chao replied.

"Are we eating at the cafeteria?"

"Of course not. There's a Meizhou Restaurant near the entrance of this university. Their iron plate beef and scrambled egg with beef are superb. And their Hainanese desserts are very refreshing!"

"Meizhou Restaurant serving Hainanese desserts?"

Shen Bing was dumbfounded upon hearing this.

What kind of strange combination was this?

Two different regional cuisines fused together?

It sounded extremely mismatched!

"In a place like Canton, there's nothing strange about any kind of combination. The tea shop next door also sells fried ice, ice cream, and hot dogs," Wang Chao smiled and said, "In the restaurants near the university, they do whatever makes money. It's not surprising."

"I've eaten here before with my classmates, and I can't forget the beef and desserts here," he continued. "You might be accustomed to exotic delicacies, but the food here is full of flavor and excitement. You should have a different experience."

With that, he led Shen Bing to the Meizhou Restaurant at the entrance of the university.

Indeed, it was very lively there, with many people already queuing up. Wang Chao got a ticket, and there were still five tables ahead of him.

He found an empty table with Shen Bing and sat down. He used hot water to rinse the utensils while saying, "We're lucky today. It's not too crowded. We just need to wait a bit."

Shen Bing glanced at all the people present and felt that she didn't belong here.

Everyone coming and going here was young, lively, and full of youth and vigor.

She was already in her twenties, nearing thirty.

As she looked at the pairs of university students and their youthful, innocent smiles, she felt old for the first time.

"It's so carefree. How nice," Shen Bing sighed in her heart.

There was a time when she was carefree like this, wholeheartedly studying and unaware of the hardships of the world. She even looked forward to growing up and graduating.

But time passed in the blink of an eye, and her university days had become distant memories.

Her father's disappearance, her brother's grave illness, and the various internal struggles within the family had left her mentally and physically exhausted.

She didn't even know how long it had been since she truly laughed from the bottom of her heart.

Thinking about this, she sighed.

After Shen Bing sat down, many university students also looked at her.

Shen Bing was too beautiful, breathtakingly so. Wherever she went, she became the most stunning scenery.

Wang Chao looked at Shen Bing's expression and knew what she was thinking.

Instead of immediately comforting her, he took out two bottles of cola from the refrigerator at the Meizhou Restaurant, opened one, and handed it to Shen Bing.

"I don't need it. I'm on a diet," Shen Bing said.

"Diet? Look at you, you're not even a hundred pounds. Drink it," Wang Chao put the cola in front of Shen Bing.

"Living in this world, happiness is the most important thing, enjoyment is important. We can worry about our figure later," Wang Chao said. "Besides, this isn't a fancy restaurant, so let's not be too formal. Let's be more relaxed, it'll be more comfortable."

After speaking, he clinked glasses with Shen Bing, gulped down several sips of cola, and let out a satisfied burp. "Ah~ refreshing!"

Shen Bing furrowed her brows slightly.

Wang Chao's words reminded her of the seven days and nights she spent with him in the mountains before. Back then, they couldn't even get a sip of regular purified water, only drinking spring water or sometimes dewdrops.

Thinking about it, she let go and took a sip as well.

The cold, sweet, and refreshing sensation was indeed pleasant and enjoyable.

It had been a long time since she had drunk this kind of carbonated beverage, so she took several more sips and burped just like Wang Chao.

Wang Chao smiled, called over a waiter, and started ordering, "Iron plate beef, iron plate frog, blanched baby bok choy, tomato and egg stir-fry, two bowls of dessert, one bowl of Qingbu Liang, and one bowl of taro and sago sweet soup."

"That's it."

"Okay, we'll get it for you right away," the waiter took the menu and quickly left.

Wang Chao turned back and looked at Shen Bing, noticing that there was still a lingering sadness in her expression.

Putting down his cola, Wang Chao looked at Shen Bing and asked, "Do you have something on your mind?"

Shen Bing nodded, sighed, but remained silent.

Wang Chao said, "Is't about your brother?"

Shen Bing was startled and looked at Wang Chao in surprise. "How do you know about my brother?"

"Uncle Long told me," Wang Chao said.

"Uncle Long, why did he tell you about this?" Shen Bing furrowed her eyebrows. Knowing that Wang Chao was aware of her situation, she opened up and said, "They're asking me for more money."

When they're on their way here, she received a message from Massachusetts General Hospital in Baiying Country, stating that her brother's condition had worsened and they needed more money, donations, in order to provide the highest level of medication and treatment by the best doctors.

The amount they're asking for was one billion US dollars!

If she did not provide the additional funds, they threatened to withdraw treatment for her brother.

"One billion US dollars? Isn't that extortion?" Wang Chao's expression turned cold.
