Chapter 2052: Creatures Of The Rift
Instantly, they got sight of them entering and rushed towards them without a care for their lives.
*Screech!~*
Their voice sounded horrifying and grating as they made their way towards them. However, the moment they opened their mouths, a dark web encroached towards them, intending to trap them before they could apparently escape through the rift.
“It seems that they retain some battle instincts.”
Davis waved his hand, causing the flurry of dark webs to disintegrate upon being ignited with his crimson-gold flames. When the flames cleared, the bunch of mindless savage beasts leaped towards them and brought down their sharp legs, intending to cut them down.
However, they all fell one after another as though it was written in some book of death, but when they fell on the ground, blood-splattered as their heads separated from their bodies. Their spider legs twitched for a while before they all stopped.
Davis turned to look at Evelynn’s four spider sickles that rescinded back into her purple robe before he visibly gulped.
“That’s so scary, Evelynn…”
“Hehe~ You jest.”
Evelynn giggled before she had Wisteria feast upon their corpses. Clearly, they acted here like they were here for a trip, almost acting like a newlywed cultivator couple. Nonetheless, they both took a look around for the moment, trying to find some clues before they confirmed that there was nothing worth investigating.
“There are only two rifts here, one for going back and one for continuing further.”
Evelynn uttered, causing Davis to nod, “Right, this should make it somewhat easier to us, but if we’re unlucky, we’ll meet with more than ten rifts past this location.”
“Don’t jinx it.” Evelynn rolled her eyes.
They continued onwards as Wisteria quickly ate the corpses of the mindless savage beasts. When they stepped out of the next rift, their brows lifted almost simultaneously.
“Quick, the rift is closing!”
“That’s the only path further!”
Davis and Evelynn quickly shouted out.
The moment they stepped past the rift, they quickly did a search and found out that there was only one other rift leading to another location like before. They kicked the air and rushed in that rift’s direction! However, swaths of dirt surged up in the barren land as a plethora of mindless savage beasts attacked them, appearing poisonous and deadly as they waved their fangs and stingers, intending to cause them harm.
They were no longer of Darkfall Spider blood as many appeared disfigured and possessed a body shape similar to the centipede, scorpion, and other poisonous living beings. It seemed that this was a hunting ground for these mindless savage beasts as some even seemed to forget about them, feasting on other mindless savage beasts that got caught in their trap.
“Hmph!”
Davis merely harrumphed. His soul force surged out of his body and struck the hundreds of mindless savage beasts right in their soul essence, causing them to die painless deaths. Their floating bodies appeared like they had gained some extreme weight as they began to plunge towards the ground.
However, with a wave of his hand, every dead being within a few kilometers gathered towards him as he absorbed them all into his spatial ring.
At this moment, they were only two hundred meters away from the rift, which wasn’t much of a distance for them, considering it didn’t even take a second for them to appear in front of it. However, by the time they were already at that distance, the rift had merely become an inch long in radius, causing them to narrow their brows as they now stood before it, stumped.
=========
A white-haired woman was passing through the barren land while flying with a sword in her hand in another location. A mountain of corpses staining the ground on her pathway, blood dripping from their bodies the same way blood was dripping from her gleaming silver sword.
She faced a massive foe in front of her, a terrifying magical beast of poisonous nature.
“Malignant Gold Tail Scorpion, huh… and that too at a level above Peak-Level Ninth Stage. You must’ve eaten a lot to strengthen yourself to this point, no?”
“So what, human? You’ll shortly become my meal as well. If you don’t want to, then obediently surrender. I’ll turn you into one of mine. Of course, if you couldn’t handle my noble blood, you’ll become a mindless retard like the ones you killed! Ahahaha!”
A dissonant voice echoed as the giant fifty-meter long scorpion waved its eighty-meter long golden tail, its stinger rushing towards the white-haired woman with a golden gleam.
Such sharpness would cause one’s scalp to turn numb, but Myria nonchalantly stared at the laughing Malignant Gold Tail Scorpion, knowing that it contained a bit of Golden Dragon’s blood in it because dragons were a horny race that screwed anything that moved. However, in the case of this magical beast, it seemed that a poisonous scorpion ate a Golden Dragon whole and produced a rare offspring known as the Malignant Gold Tail Scorpion, which turned into a whole race later on.
“Hmph~”
Nonetheless, this Malignant Gold Tail Scorpion seemed like it was going to lose its dragon bloodline in the next generation or two, causing her to snort with an unamused expression on her face as she swung her sword in a vertical line.
Sword light surged from her sword as it slashed down at the stinger, causing it to split into two as blood splashed like a tidal wave, staining the barren ground in enormous amounts of blood.
“You- Ahhh!!! Who are you!?”
The Malignant Gold Tail Scorpion hurriedly retreated, its huge body stumbling all the way back to a giant kilometer tall tree that possessed many vines flailing around it. It possessed a ravenous face at the very top of the trunk, overlooking the battle with bloody eyes. Over its branches were leaf-like structures producing a sap-like dense liquid which dropped to the ground, turning into one of those hideous creatures that attacked Threelotus.
However, their prowess was many times stronger, surging towards the level above Peak-Level Emperor Grade.
“Tch, wasting the vitality you stole from others like that… what a waste- I guess not.”
Myria clicked her tongue in annoyance before she looked at the blood that was being absorbed from the ground. She smiled, abruptly disappearing before their very eyes.
“Huh? Where’d she go!?”
The Malignant Gold Tail Scorpion appeared shocked before it sensed a hint of pressure above its head, causing its eyes to tremble. Its body shuddered, causing it to open its mouth as it began to flail around.
“Save me!”
A vine hurriedly hurled towards Myria before it even shouted, causing her to cleanly dodge as she performed a black flip, descending as she retreated from the magical beast.
“Ahahaha! That’s right! Run…! Otherwise, the fiendish tree behind me will- AH!?”
The Malignant Gold Tail Scorpion surged with excitement when it suddenly felt its head being pierced. Its eyes quickly noticed that the white-haired woman was still there in front of its gaze. However, her expression became amused.
“So you’ve finished using the scorpion for your gains? It’s so like you to be predatory in nature, Wretched Rotten Nightmare Tree.”
“Hmm? You know about my origin?”
The Wretched Rotten Nightmare Tree’s bloody eyes squinted while its expression was warped into one of pleasure while sucking the vitality from the Malignant Gold Tail Scorpion. The magical beasts’ eyes became one of horror, but it was powerless to resist as other vines further wrapped around its legs while the white-haired woman had also destroyed its stinger.
“Oh, right. Unlike magical beasts, plant lifeforms like you don’t have inherited memories.” Myria lightly smiled, “Although it seems you do know how to use your techniques as though since they are second nature to you, plant lifeforms.”
“Human, do you not understand my words? I asked if you know of my origins or not!?”
The Wretched Rotten Nightmare Tree’s grating voice became wrathful, causing the barren land to tremble as vines spread out, surrounding Myria. However, it didn’t attack her, seemingly waiting for her answer.
“Indeed, I do know about your origin.”
“Then speak. Depending on the value of the information you provide me, I’ll consider letting you leave in one peace.”
“Heh.” Myria snickered at the Wretched Rotten Nightmare Tree, “Your origin… is to become an ingredient for a pill that I would have to concoct for my body once I reach the immortal level. After all, the fruits you cultivate possess an incredible life essence that when concentrated to the extreme surges with a bit of essence seething with death energy.”
“I’m sure that he wants your fruits as well.”
“Die!”
Myria giggled before her figure disappeared, causing the Wretched Rotten Nightmare Tree to lash out in pure wrath!
