Chapter 2460 Caught
After instructing Ellia to do something for him, Davis left the Aurora Cloud Gate and made his way outside.
"Insolent. You didn't care about me before, and now you pretend you care? How daring!"
"Leave."
On the way to the teleportation formation, he saw Mistress Zahara and Mistress Yeyin being both haunted by their powers. He hid and saw them being recruited into their racial alliance named the Everlasting Phoenix Alliance. Apparently, it was ranked high in the top ten.
However, Flamerose and Frostrose weren't moved.
They each had a recruiter with them who had initially invited them for some unknown reason, and with their strength, it seemed like they managed to become core disciples, which would suggest that they possessed a prowess of four levels higher.
It made sense, considering that only when the two of them combined their ice and fire powers could it reach six levels higher.
But considering that they would probably never join hands again, there was a speck of gloom cast on Davis's face.
He wanted to go at least have them reconcile as he didn't want to see them fight. It is a disgrace to the bond they previously held. He was witness to that bond where they chose Shirley as their successor without much bickering.

'Forgive me, you two...'
However, he felt some urgency over another matter, wanting to take care of it first.
He sneaked over them and appeared at the teleportation formation they had come from.
Making his way to the easternmost branch, he walked out of the teleportation room and made his way out as though he knew his way. However, he went the wrong way and ended up appearing in a battle arena. Just as he turned to take his leave, he saw Haijin Minn from the corner of his eyes, queued to take on the next battle.
'Woah, he also managed to end up here as he said...'
He was speechless for a moment before he shook his head. For some reason, there were too many coincidences today that demanded his attention, causing him to become more suspicious.
He turned around and left, finally asking a fellow disciple over the exit. However, the disciple enunciated there were other teleportation formations he could use to take himself to other regions, causing Davis to thank him.
After Davis investigated a bit, he had a plan in his mind and enacted it.
He went through a teleportation formation and went out of the Aurora Cloud Gate's Domain, and appeared in the western region of the West Fire Phoenix Prefecture. It was near to the location he had left from.
Nonetheless, it was a one-way formation, meaning that outsiders or anyone returning wouldn't be able to use this formation.
Appearing outside the temple, he cast a look around and saw that there were only two Immortal King guards from the Aurora Cloud Gate. They saw him but didn't seem particularly interested, laying out in the chill breeze as they stood in front of the temple gate.
It seemed that the Aurora Cloud Gate bought this location from the Fire Phoenix Clan. This teleportation formation also seemed to be limited as it could only teleport Immortal Stage experts and not above, but it made sense, considering that this was another Prefecture and wouldn't let the Aurora Cloud Gate do as they pleased.
He ascended from the temple and shot through the skies, making his way east.
His path demanded that he take some difficult to cross regions such as mountain forests and cities. He took the former as it would be way faster, but the chances of meeting with bandits or flying above someone's backyard exponentially grew.
With his speed, he rushed through the skies like a shooting star.
His speed was phenomenal, nearing the max flight speed of a Level Six Immortal Stage cultivator with just flying without even needing to use a bit of energy. Just his physical body was able to handle the wind resistance like a boulder standing in the middle of a storm valley.
His undulation-less flight would also help him more to traverse the region without being noticed.
But suddenly, Davis stopped his flight and hid below the forest mountain range.
Exactly two seconds later, a figure broke through space and appeared above him in the skies. The spatial vortex closed, and the blur receded, revealing a black-robed man. His skin was pale, and his face was uncovered. He looked young but didn't seem to have eyes as it was not present. Instead, there was a faint pitch-black vortex that seemed to emit a deathly air.
"Dead End, come out. I know you're here."
A deep voice resounded as lush black hair danced in the wind. He kept his hands folded in the back and spoke, looking straight towards the distance.
Davis's lips curved into a smile. He had camouflaged himself behind a black tree and viewed his pursuer with interest.
Seeing the emblem on this black-robed figure's back, the symbol of a tear that was familiar to him, he couldn't help but almost throw out a chuckle.
The Ghost Tear Hall was finally here, as he expected.
"I must admit that you're disciplined enough to hide as soon as you felt the spatial undulations at the level of Immortal King in the area, but I did that on purpose in order to test your cautiousness. Now be a good assassin and reveal yourself. Master Deathseeker is here to take you as his disciple. Come out and display your respects."
"…?"
Davis became astounded.
This Immortal King expert came to what…?
"You want to take me in as a disciple?"
Davis's voice echoed out from his hiding spot. It was useless. He couldn't hide from an Immortal King. However, even after his voice echoed out, Deathseeker didn't seem to move his head or use his soul sense to survey him.
Instead, he was silent before he answered.
"Yes."
"Aren't you afraid that I'll implicate you?"
"Ahaha." It was as if Deathseeker heard a funny thing, causing his head to jiggle in laughter, "The entire world is afraid of me, Deathseeker, as they call me a Fiend."
"If I didn't belong to the Ghost Tear Hall, they would've killed me long back, and now, I've reached the level of assassinating Immortal Emperors, unafraid of anyone. You're an Anarchic Divergent, unlike me but still just an immortal with an aptitude for Death Laws. If I don't protect you, then who will?"
"…"
Davis's eyes narrowed. How was he supposed to know someone like that exists in the Ghost Tear Hall? Heck, what were Deathseeker's age and history? He didn't know.
"Are you sure that you are not after my secrets instead?"
"You can only find that out after becoming my disciple."
"Heh!" Davis scoffed, "That depends on what kind of person you are. I'm definitely not accepting a master with an insane mind, and even if you are sane, what kind of person are you? A man who slaughters for fun? Or a man who slaughters his way out for survival?"
"Besides, I don't take masters as I'm a serious person. Once a master, always a master. I would be respectful to them for life. But for that, I would have to deeply respect them first, but you… you can at most become my teacher."
"Since you don't want to come out, then don't blame me for being ruthless."
Deathseeker sounded like he heard enough and abruptly turned around towards Davis's direction and raised an arm.
"...!"
Instantly, Davis felt his entire body become restricted, unable to move.
