Chapter 2551 Garnering Respect
Waine Might's eyes bulged as he received a strike to the center of his chest, which sent him flying. His eyes were full of disbelief, wondering how he was sent flying as he had just been engaged in a passionate battle with Davis Alstreim, unleashing a flurry of fists at each other with incomparable joy.
Just when he thought they were equally matched, he suddenly took a palm to his chest and blanked out. The next thing he knew, he hit a building's wall, which caused his body to take damage and his innards to be so shaken that he could no longer keep the blood that arrived in his throat suppressed, spitting it out in pain.
Raising his head as he stood up from crawling, there was a battle intent leaking out from his big eyes as he gazed at Davis.
"Once more..."
Davis had his hand reached out. His fingers stretched into a palm. He folded his fingers and took his hand back, appearing calm and steady as his smile left, not because he was arrogant but because he saw Waine Might spit out a mouthful of gray blood.
The sight of it was pretty shocking as it was his first time seeing a different kind of blood from a lifeform as human-looking as Waine Might, and if he had been still on Earth, he would've mistaken Waine Might to be an alien from outer space.
Just as Waine Might wanted to step back into the battle stage, someone arrived beside him and blocked his path by stretching out his hand.
"Brother Waine, you lost. That's it... don't disturb the Emperor of Death anymore."
"But... but..."
Waine Might trembled, appearing like a child who was going to cry as he saw the man before him not allowing him to battle Davis. But ultimately, he didn't disobey, only putting down his head as though sulking caused Davis to unwittingly smile in amusement.
He had never seen such a simpleton before.
Nonetheless, he understood that their exchange was just one of raw power. There were no techniques involved. Otherwise, things might get spicier, not that it mattered to him as he could still overwhelm anyone here with raw power.
They weren't on the same level that Davis felt sad in his own way. Even the top fifteen weren't comparable to Nadia or the few others who had reached eight levels higher, so he could understand why Myria was prideful about her Eternal Life Soul Physique that gave her a prowess that's powerful as nine levels higher at the very least.
However, it could be seen that these disciples were not willing to offend him on the day of his wedding, not wanting to get on his bad side, although they were still intensely curious about his power and wanted to challenge him.
Funnily enough, with each battle, he could see their egos and pride chipping from their arrogant faces, especially the true disciples. Their faces were full of disbelief, not to mention the Zenflames and Rocksunders, who was extremely solemn at this moment after witnessing his power.
"Emperor of Death, I'm completely convinced of your power. As promised, my contribution points are yours."
The azure-robed man in front of Waine Might cup his hands, his eyes brimming with respect. He was truly shocked to see a human beat Waine Might in a physical battle, one of raw power, because he understood not even the first ranked could achieve such a feat, using no martial energy but just raw physical might to defeat Waine Might.
Not only he but even Rea Tyriel appeared to be at a loss as she didn't know what to say while Black Tyriel kept blinking with its crow eyes, wondering if what he had seen was real.
"What's your name?"
Davis smilingly asked the azure-robe man courteously, his mood improving a lot since he gained some contribution points without doing any work for the sect.
"I'm honored to be asked for my name, Emperor of Death. I'm Olas Windfall of the Windfall Family."
".... Ranked eighth true disciple..."
Davis uttered as he nodded, recognizing the other party's name in the rankings. As for the Windfall Family, he wasn't sure other than knowing that they had the ancestral bloodline of the wind attribute.
Still, ranking-wise, Olas Windfall appeared to be stronger than Waine Might, but it didn't make sense to him, considering that he couldn't feel much pressure from Olas Windfall like he sensed from Waine Might.
"So you can beat him?"
"It's not that I'm stronger than Waine Might. It's that because he can't hit me that I can eventually exhaust his defenses and pierce through with sharp attacks." >
Olas Windfall looked sheepish as he rubbed his head, causing Davis to chuckle as he understood speed was king in front of slowpokes.
"Aha, no wonder he listens to you."
One thing was for sure. These people knew how to admit defeat, so it could be seen that they had had much experience losing for sure. Although they might be reluctant, they didn't take offense for losing, which made Davis look at them in an agreeable light.
This also made him wonder what kind of alliance they were in, causing him to ask.
"Oh, would the Emperor of Death like to join our Heaven Gate Alliance?"
At the mention of Heaven Gate Alliance, many people's expressions couldn't help but turn eager and excited while their attitudes also turned respectful. They were the number one alliance in the Aurora Cloud Gate, boasting all the powerful top disciples of the Aurora Cloud Gate, ranging from Immortal Stage to Immortal King Stage.
Davis also knew what the Heaven Gate Alliance was but still shook his head, "I doubt that you people would let me in considering my infamous status as a Divergent."
"Aha, that's about right. I'm not the leader or in the recruiting position of the Heaven Gate Alliance, so I can't say anything for sure. However, we invited Niel Bladeheart, but he seems disinterested in joining the alliance, seemingly wanting to be a lone wolf."
At the mention of Niel Bladeheart, it could be seen everybody's eyes lit up. It seems that they had high hopes for him, causing Davis to also be interested even though he had already defeated him.
"What are your people's opinions of Niel Bladeheart?"
"Niel Bladeheart has just started on his immortal path, but we're already in the Level Nine Immortal Stage, so that's why he's ranked between the twenties and thirties. The contribution points he's gaining are much lesser than ours but still significant due to his ultimate killing prowess. If he is on our cultivation base, he would most likely be in the top ten or even higher than me."
"Moreover, it's not the end of his realm. His family says that his potential isn't unlocked yet, so when he does, his prowess will skyrocket to a level where he could battle the top three."
"I see."
Davis nodded with squinted eyes. He remembered the last time he saw Niel Bladeheart, and it felt to him that the other party had emerged from the depths of an abyss, his eyes full of confidence and piercing sword intent.
As far as he considered, it could be possible that Niel Bladeheart unlocked his true potential after being defeated by him, Myria and Ellia altogether. To him, it wasn't Niel Bladeheart's prowess that was scary but his extreme will that refused to bend in defeat even when defeated by a weaker opponent like Ellia, who used his momentary fears against him.
Even he knew that Niel Bladeheart had a fortuitous future if he could stay afloat like this.
Not a Divergent and also not being hunted after yet still powerful? In one way, Davis couldn't help but feel envious of how Niel Bladeheart lived.
Nonetheless, he would still not want his life as having Fallen Heaven meant a chance to reach the ultimate peak. He felt no amount of false peaceful days could exchange for the fact of having absolute power within one's hands.
To reach the apex or at least higher than everyone in the universe was the ultimate form of safety and self-defense.
'That said...'
Davis turned to look at the white-robed woman with an amused smile.
"I think it was your immortal beast pet's turn."
"..."
Rea Tyriel's gaze shook.
His Essence Gathering Cultivation was too strong, especially with its heavenly factor that curbed most auras into retreating, and his physical body almost seemed invulnerable. To send Black Tyriel on the stage, wouldn't she be only sending him to make a fool out of himself?
