Davis narrowed his eyes as he looked at the formation being besieged from the northern curve.
The Ancestors were relentless, throwing innumerable attacks of varying Laws on the barrier as they tried to break it. There were even some Grand Elders who seemed to be mixed in.
Davis was quite shocked.
He had never seen so many Immortal Emperors in one place altogether. Even the banquet of the century lacked such grandeur as none of the Grand Elders went around attacking like this. Here, there were even Ancestors throwing their hands!
However, Davis didn't seem worried as none of them seemed to exceed Level Five Immortal Emperor Stage in prowess as most of them didn't even reach Level Four Immortal Emperor Stage in cultivation base. Instead, they were treading at the peak of the Level Three Immortal Emperor Stage.
Davis deemed that the other powers considered it unnecessary to make it overkill, or their Ancestors were really weaker, unlike the Fire Phoenix Clan's Ancestors.
Nonetheless, he saw the rippling waves shooting across the barrier after each attack landed. None of those attacks seem to be able to shake the barrier no matter what.
What was the difference between a defensive formation and a sealing formation?
A sealing formation was difficult to break through from both sides and had little weak spots, but a defensive formation is harder to break from the outside but easier to break from the inside, usually having more weak spots but overall beats a sealing formation when it came to defending against outside threats.
However, the sealing formation Davis employed not only had little to no weak spots, but its defensive prowess was also comparable to a defensive formation on both sides. This was due to the fact that this was an ancient Mid-Grade Immortal Emperor Sealing Formation that he had bought from the Aurora Cloud Gate.
It seemed to have been made by a true formation expert from the Aurora Cloud Gate, allowing it to exude a prowess beyond what a sealing formation was capable of.
He had bought it before leaving and exiling himself, but of course, he told Elder Aradiel Furiose to delay the news so he could get a preemptive strike first.
He had also bought a few other things, but with that purchase, he had become dirt poor. He had no contribution points left, not that it mattered since he had exiled himself and quickly reached here.
'But with excellence also comes limitations...'
Davis knew that the capacity of this sealing formation was less, meaning that its fuel sources were quickly going to run out at this rate. The more they continued their attacks, the less time he had to do what he came here for. Otherwise, it might escape out of his grasp as the formation would break, allowing all the Ancestors to gang up on him.
"What? Have you gotten cold feat?"
Patriarch Killian Zenflame grinned, the previous panic nowhere to be seen on his face. In truth, it was doubtful if it was even true panic or acting to lure him over. However, Davis still smiled.
"Don't project yourself onto me, Killian. Corrupted as though it may, your Phoenix Heart is mine, so don't worry. I'll make all kinds of pills with it, even share it with Shirley, whom you want to obtain."
"You dare!?"
Patriarch Killian Zenflame had just bellowed out in a fury.
The Phoenix Heart was known for its vitality and was an ingredient used to make high-quality healing pills that had nirvanic properties able to heal even heavenly lightning.
It was a rare ingredient sought highly but was never found due to their control over it. If found, it would be fought over for a high price at the black markets.
"…!"
However, Davis suddenly disappeared from his vision again, causing him to become cautious as he extended his senses while the remaining Ancestor who had come out of his life ring stayed beside him, trying to protect him as he kept his sword out.
It seemed like he was a fey as he had scarlet wings even in human form but other than that, there seemed to be nothing peculiar about him, making it so that he had to be a pure-blooded fey.
The both of them watched their surroundings like a hawk.
"Behind!"
They reacted at the same time as they turned around and created a dense barrier made out of flames.
*BOOOM!~*
Reverberating waves of dark crimson flames soared into the skies, engulfing them.
But contrary to their expectations, the wave of heavenly flames didn't directly blast them but took down most of the remaining soldiers who had escaped, burning them alive so that not even their ashes remained.
"No!!!!!"
A screeching voice resounded across the city, causing Davis to narrow his eyes. He was amidst the flames, turning to look at a female Ancestor roaring outside the sealing formation.
"You vile Fiend! Stop it! Or else you would have no choice but to accept the consequences!"
"Consequences…?"
Davis's lips curled as he flew out of the flames to the side, turning to look at Patriarch Killian Zenflame, who seemed to yet to make a move.
"Like what? Having my nine generations beheaded and left to rot above the execution platform?"
"That's right. The Starlight Jade Wolf Clan will not be spared either."
The female Ancestor declared. Her bosoms, draped by her blue robe, heaved furiously as she waved her hand.
"If you continue to slaughter instead of surrendering, then you leave us with no choice!"
She appeared to be a middle-aged woman, but her anger seemed to no know bounds.
Davis sneered, "You don't worry as well. As long as any one of you chooses to remain here and continue to attack the barrier, I will make sure your nine generations are beheaded and left to rot above the execution platform as well."
"What!?"
"Are you insane!?"
"Vile Fiend! Prepare to face your death!"
*Booom!~* *Booom!!~* *Booom!!!~*
The intensity of their attacks only increased with Davis's ultimatum while that female Ancestor's body shook crazily.
Davis blinked as he was slightly taken aback. Did they really think he would be passive in taking hits? Was he not allowed to strike back? Or did they really think that he would not threaten them back?
'Woah, living as Ancestors must've made them feel invincible...'
*Booom!~*
Thick strands of black-crimson lightning showered upon the barely hundred remaining soldiers, destroying them.
Their veins exploded when the flashes of lightning hit, causing them to rupture into a rain of blood.
"Ahhh! Spare us!"
They tried to hide behind the Fire Phoenix Clan's Patriarch, but it seemed to be useless as the other party didn't help them, even pushing them away from the sheer amount of scarlet heat they generated around them that almost appeared like a forcefield.
"Die!"
But a few others were also valiant, dodging the strand of black-crimson annihilative heavenly strands somehow as they neared Davis, stabbing with their spears and slashing with their swords and halberds.
*Bang!~*
Sidestepping ever so lightly, Davis sent them exploding into a bloody mist with a single slap to their faces or bodies. He was so fast that he killed and dodged eight people at the same time as his silhouette adopted a pale jade-crimson hue as he left afterimages even in the eyes of an Immortal Emperor. The soldiers couldn't resist his physical prowess, causing even their souls to collapse in an instant.
"Bastard, stop!"
"All your lineage will die if you don't surrender!"
"My Cyan Soul Rat Clan will not rest until either one of us is dead!"
The Ancestors outside the barriers were furious as they kept attacking the barrier and screaming at him.
Davis didn't leave a single soldier alive except the Cyan Soul Rat Clan's Great General, who seemed to have hidden somewhere in this city, perhaps in a restroom.
Regardless, as he saw their faces distorted with fury, he felt inclined to make known to them his ultimatum.
"I won't repeat a third time. I rightfully killed your coalition's forces for hunting me. If you insist on hunting me down, then I, an Anarchic Divergent you all so hate, will also not stop going down this path of carnage that ends up killing all your people."
Davis's voice became colder and sharper at the end as death energy appeared like a ghastly aura around his body.
"Tell me, do you people really want that?"
