Chapter 3243 Couldn't Reason
In the central region of the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm, when almost every group was heading towards the very center to participate in the realm concoction, one group alone was heading back. Their expressions were filled with fright, for they just experienced something they would never encounter in their lives.
If it thundered, at least, it would give them the feeling of life, but at that moment, they couldn't even hear their own heartbeats or sense their souls, giving them the fright of their lives. It was like their entire being had gone numb, refusing to move under the terrifying aura of the heavens.
Even when the Emperor of Death simply turned around and walked away from the realm concoction, they said nothing.
To be scared of that otherworldly strike was normal. In fact, some even pissed in their pants, and even though the embarrassment was high, the fear factor was incredibly heightened that no one pointed them out or bothered to make fun of them.
However, they didn't know Davis didn't retreat for such a reason.
Even now, he kept looking at the skies as though he had a lost expression, his face sometimes having a grimace, sometimes forlorn, sometimes angered. Myria and the others could see that he had many thoughts about the incident, about that mysterious black-robed woman, but instead of asking him for details, they left him like that as they didn't want to disturb his thoughts.
This whole situation was odd and confusing for them to have a grasp over it.
When they were a few thousand kilometers away from the edge of the inner circle and the outer circle, Davis's expression finally turned normal.
"Alright, what happened before was something unexpected, but I haven't changed my mind. We're still leaving this collapsing realm as soon as possible."
His voice resounded amidst the group, finally letting the crowd heave a breath as they couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding crisis remain within after that incident. Now, even their slow pace hastened after they heard his firm voice.
"What happened? Did you manage to decipher her vague words?"
"Why did she mention big sister Evelynn?"
Myria and Tina asked one after another.
"Could it be that she holds some grudge against us to die in front of us like that?" Bylai couldn't help but ask, "A vengeful woman who's that powerful would be truly frightening, but she only acted like a wall, not willing to let us walk past her— even so politely and imploringly. What was her true intent...?"
Davis pursed his lips, "Who knows?"
"..."
Myria and the others looked away. It seems like they would only know what she meant if they returned to the First Haven World and saw what was going on, as they were worried something might've happened to Evelynn with that mysterious black-robed woman mentioning her name.
Perhaps that was why Davis decisively chose to turn back.
But in truth, Davis was already starting to forget why he made the decision to turn back.
Going forward didn't sit well with him for some reason. It was also true that he was worried about Evelynn as there was no way her name came from some high above existence, but it could be argued that the others from the First Haven World leaked that name. Therefore, it was understandable if his enemies wanted to use that information to bar him from entering the realm concoction.
However, those four souls-
<nulli>'Hmm? Who were those souls...? I did mention they were... humans... right...?'
Davis asked himself as he forgot about their appearances. He did think of asking Fallen Heaven, but since there was a divine punishment, Fallen Heaven had completely hidden itself after he used its karmic tendrils, refusing to come out even now as though it wanted to avoid all interactions for the subsequent time.
Such a thing never happened, so he was all the more aversed to taking the risk of going to the realm concoction.
Nonetheless, with too much to intake of outlandish situations and the declaration of the heralding of doom from a powerful person, that is, if he were to advance forward, he refused to let his family come to harm, even if the reward was something like a realm pill that could make him massively powerful.
But last but not the least...
<nulli>'This feeling of sorrow in my heart... just won't disappear...'
Davis wore a slight frown, 'Have I been cursed by that mysterious woman...?'
He had thought about it a lot already but couldn't come to a conclusion. He imagined the forgotten reason behind this heavy feeling of sorrow was why he decided to turn back.
If he lost the realm pill, that would be extremely painful, but this sorrow that was akin to losing someone exceeded even that.
<nulli>'Well, if I am fooled, I guess I'll just have to swallow the defeat this time around...'
Davis smiled and patted Myria's shoulder.
"Thanks for following my decision."
She could've gone ahead and probably joined up with Maximus Wolfbane and the others to secure the cauldron and concoct the realm pill, but she stayed with him even if he didn't provide a valid reason.
Myria didn't say anything as she was also deep in thought. They all avoided saying one thing at the moment.
It was Time.
They didn't want to get struck by the divine punishment, so they didn't speak about how that mysterious black-robed woman reversed time for Davis at all, knowing that there was a possibility that she could've come from the future.
Davis also knew this as well as the fact that it was possible to comprehend the reversal of time in a fixed space and not for oneself, as it was possible to revive people using Spacetime Laws, but he refused to believe such a person or people would cross time and get hit by divine punishment, only for them to say that he shouldn't walk past them. Even with his imagination, he couldn't think of anyone capable of such a feat amongst his allies.
<nulli>'Allies who use Time Laws...? Perhaps Stella Voidfield's mother...? Or Jade Aurora... no way.... she couldn't be that powerful, could she...?'
This only left him with the notion that this person should be someone who is close to him in the future and the others, perhaps their prisoners or subordinates.
However, how would that person be able to appear here if they traversed back in time? He didn't know nor had the knowledge to understand the intricacies involved in time travel.
Eventually, he chose not to think about it anymore, as he was only experiencing headaches and some pity about leaving the realm pill behind. Such a supreme pill was left behind, but if the concoction succeeded, he hoped someone like Rath Heavenshade, a person with a proper sense of justice, could obtain it.
At this moment, Davis couldn't help but turn to look at Fairy Thunderblaze, wondering how she was faring after the ridiculous divine punishment struck down, but he saw that she wasn't particularly fazed, unlike the others.
He panned his gaze, only now saw that people were still shivering like they were in the cold. He didn't know it was even worse before he noticed them.
"Fuck! Which of you peed your pants!?"
As soon as they arrived at the edge of the inner circle and the outer circle, stepping into the outer circle, a furious yet disgusted voice rang out.
Davis looked at the Phantom Gaze Cobra, who was in his human form right now as he held his nose as though the place stunk. The others who were guilty of his accusations quickly lowered their heads. Even if they cleaned up, they weren't able to change their clothes amidst the tense situation as they wanted to get out as soon as possible, so the minute smell of pee lingering on their clothes was detected by the magical beasts.
"A clean freak, are we? Did you forget your time as a livestock prisoner?" Lea spoke up, raising her fist.
The Phantom Gaze Cobra glanced at the little and crazy flame beside her before laughing.
"Aha, I was only joking. After all, humans make fun of us for being naked all the time even though our fur or scales cover us, so why can't we make fun of their shortcomings?"
"Whatever." Davis spoke in a lousy voice before he beckoned the Variant Dark Dragon, "Come here, I'll release the seal on you."
"Why- thank you!"
The Variant Dark Dragon was also in his human form. He obediently listened to Davis's words, allowing him to be free of the soul seal. Although he and even the others had tons of questions, like what was that terrifying aura that spread over the region and the like, they remained silent.
Even the Phantom Gaze Cobra wanted to ask if that terrifying aura was the reason they peed the pants and decided to come back.
However, first things were first. They didn't want to offend Davis, wanting him to get rid of their soul seals. In fact, they were the most happy that he returned and didn't care about the reason as long as it wasn't dangerous.
A few hours later, Davis and Myria finally released all the soul seals of the twelve magical beast prisoners.
They were a bit exhausted but didn't show it on their faces. With the soul seals of the prisoners gone, they were now somewhat free in the sense no one could karmically attack them other than Davis as he still held their soul essences.
Regardless, their threat level increased, although he offered them another option.
"Want to try entering my world? I cannot give any guarantees since the spatial vortex we're going to pass through might not let Immortal Emperor existences pass through."
Davis didn't mention the World Master, but he imagined that they could also stop any being from entering their world if they wanted to.
"This place... is this a realm in the Three-Layered Universe?" The Lunar Blackclaw Rabbit asked.
She even frowned, appearing like she wanted to ask something even more but didn't as she kept waiting for Davis's answer.
"It doesn't fit your description, but I would say that you cannot freely leave that world to enter the Three-Layered Universe as you please."
The Lunar Blackclaw Rabbit sighed ever so lightly before she cupped her hands politely.
"Good luck~ I must do what I must do."
Davis's brows twitched.
He swore that some people were loyal beyond comprehension since so many years had passed, yet this rabbit still wanted to save her Empress. He shook his head and returned the gesture. n(-O)/v-(e.)L(-b-.1/-n
The Phantom Gaze Cobra, Variant Dark Dragon, and the others also bid farewell, not wanting to be stuck in a new realm as they finally had their taste of freedom. However, there were two magical beast prisoners who decided to try their luck, apparently not wanting to shed blood anymore.
They were none other than the Pelagic Serenity Turtle and the Wind Phoenix.
Before leaving, Davis naturally asked the Azuretail Shadow Wolf about Nadia's origin, but it shook its head, unable to recall such a thing from its inherited memories.
Although he was disappointed, he didn't let it show on his face and bid farewell to this riffraff group of prisoners with wicked deeds posted on their heads. He really didn't want to bring every single one of them to the First Haven World anyway since he didn't want innocents to suffer the wrath they endured and hid for hundreds and thousands of years.
Davis's group all made their way to the spatial vortex.
Naturally, their route was secured, but apocalyptic flames still covered some areas, barring them from advancing. But with Calypsea by their side, she simply manipulated the flames, allowing them to breeze through the perilous path like they were taking a walk in the park.
Finally, they arrived before the spatial vortex on the same day, his eyes blinking as he saw Lest Mistwalker waiting there with a surprised expression on his face.
"Did the realm concoction already end or something? But..."
He asked, his eyes shocked as though he was keeping tabs on the site of the realm concoction to know that it only started, so how could it end so soon?
