Chapter 20 - The Mark on Her Face

The afternoon weather was nice and warm. It was still in the middle of spring so whenever the carriage passed by, the flowers beside the road would dance along with the wind that swept pass it.

Jiang Ying Yue was looking outside through the window. At this moment, Yan Hua's voice was heard.

"Ying Yue, don't you want to know where we are heading to at all?"

Jiang Ying Yue's attention diverted to the old man in front her. "Master, I do want to know. But I also trust you. Based on our conversation, you already said that you would bring me to your house to train and treat me. Even though I don't know where your house is, but even if it is in another country or continent, I do not mind. I trust master's arrangement."

The old man's face in front of her had a trace of surprise. The stern looking old man immediately broke into a smile. "Good! Very Good! You know when to ask when to not. You also know to analyze situation. I am very satisfied!"

Yan Hua was not stingy in his compliment at all. If any of the guild's people saw this, they would be shocked. The old man rarely smiles unless he was alone and he completed a perfect pill and potion or when he met that good friend's of his.

And he rarely compliment people too!

It could be seen Yan Hua was really happy with his choice. He would train this little lass with everything he knows!

Looking at the little lass, she had a tiny figure. She was very thin maybe due to her weak constitution, wearing a peach colored robe with simple hair ornament and a cream colored veil. She might be sick and he knew even though the carriage was really comfortable due to the enchantment that he already made beforehand to stabilize it, this lass would still feel uncomfortable due to the long journey. But she did not say it or make fuss over it. She sat there quietly with a unique aura of her own.

Sometimes, he could feel a trace of loneliness and sadness emitting from her whenever she got lost in her thoughts.

He was old and he had already met so many people but the little lass gave the aura of someone who had been through so much, her desolate aura was so strong that he could feel faint heartache just by sitting in front of her.

But as much as he was curious of her story, as her master, he would give her time to open up. He would protect her like his own daughter. But.. he had been a little curious to why she always wear a veil. He kind of had a clue about it but he wanted to be sure.

"Ying Yue, master wants to ask you something."

Jiang Ying Yue was prepared of any question that he's going to ask. "Yes master please do ask."

"Why do you always wear a veil? I am just curious that is all."

She did not feel shock at the question at all. She answered honestly. "Because I am ugly, master. Because my face has a huge mark on it."

Yan Hua wanted to see it. Was it because of her poison? He wanted to know fully in order to treat her.

"Ying Yue, can master see it? Master just wants to know so that master can treat it."

Jiang Ying Yue smiled and move her hands to remove her cream colored veil.

Yan Hua was staring intently at her actions. When the veil was removed, he could see a huge black mark on her face. It covered almost half of her face now.

"Master, do you think this is because of the poison too?" Jiang Ying Yue asked. She just wanted to know why she had this mark. Even though she was not a doctor in her previous life, but she knew a little bit of medical knowledge and this certainly wasn't a birth mark.

Yan Hua's mind was working incessantly. He was not sure so he had to ask.

"I am not sure myself. I need to do a thorough check on you again to make sure the poison type and it's effect on you. Has it always been this way since you were a kid?"

She tilted her head a bit to think. Going through her memory of Gu Mingxia (the previous host), it had not been that way.

"No master. When I was a kid, it was very small. Then it started growing to be what it is today."

"I see. I will check again to see whether this is caused by the poison or something else."

"Thank you master. I really appreciate it." Actually, she wanted to say that even if he could not treat it, as long as this mark did not bring any harm to her body, she did not mind it. She could a veil to cover it. But if it could be treated, then she would be grateful. She did not want because of this mark, if it was accidentally seen then it would bring trouble to her family.

The carriage moved really fast. Jiang Ying Yue was actually appreciating the view outside and comparing it to her previous world. Well she was very new to this world so she was very curious.

So far, some things looked the same but some were not.

For an example, back then, she used to drive her sports car everywhere. She had 3 cars but none of it was as comfortable as the carriage. Well, magic did do wonders here.

She used to live in the city with skyscrapers everywhere. But now, all she could see was the mountains, trees and flowers. It brought her peace and serenity.

But she could not help to think about a memory of her previous life..
