Chapter 11
Before becoming a tyrant boss, Zhong Ruanxing had never imagined that a tyrant boss actually had to attend so many meetings every day. Aren't tyrants supposed to just forcefully love someone and be done with it???
Having not slept all night, Zhong Ruanxing sat at the head of the conference room this afternoon, struggling to keep her eyes open as her subordinates discussed the project. It reminded her of when she used to fight to stay awake in math class back in high school.
Finally making it through the end of the meeting, she hurried back to the CEO's office to take a nap.
The entire 39th floor belonged to the CEO's office area. Other than Song Jinxing's office, only Secretary Tong Ling and Executive Assistant Fu Ling's offices were qualified to be located on this floor.
The spacious and stately office exuded the same cold and unapproachable aura as Song Jinxing himself. Aside from the bare necessities for work, there wasn't a single extraneous item. The full-length windows overlooked the entire CBD commercial district, with straight intersecting roads and staggered well-designed office buildings extending as far as the eye could see, displaying extreme modern architectural beauty.
The blinds completely isolated the interior from the exterior. Zhong Ruanxing relaxed on the not-so-comfortable leather sofa, forwarded the meeting minutes compiled by the secretary to Song Jinxing, then prepared to take her nap.
Just as she was about to drift off to sleep, her phone buzzed twice with a WeChat reply from Song Jinxing:
- The proposal is inadequate. Tell Tong Ling that everyone must submit a new proposal before leaving work today.
Zhong Ruanxing: ...?
She checked the time, it was almost 4 pm already, so she tactfully asked:
- There are only 2 hours left until the end of the work day. What if they can't finish it?
Song Jinxing replied very quickly:
- Overtime. I don't hire idlers for high salaries. I want to see the new proposals by 9 pm tonight.
What a devil of a boss!
Zhong Ruanxing started to feel bad for the anxious executives frowning in the conference room earlier. She thought for a bit, then tweaked Song Jinxing's cold words when relaying the message to Tong Ling: [The proposal is inadequate, have everyone resubmit a proposal by 9 pm tonight, thanks for your hard work.]
The secretary instantly replied: [Received, Chairman Song.]
Outside the spacious office area, Tong Ling cautiously glanced towards the CEO's office. The blinds blocked any outside observation. Today's boss seemed exceptionally congenial, leaving her feeling apprehensive as she notified his orders and then secretly messaged her BFF group:
- Chairman Song is so strange today, every message he sent me ended with "thanks for your hard work".
Other than being a bit cold, the Chairman is an extremely good boss!
Zhong Ruanxing entered the private elevator, recalling the secretary's desperate dedication to her work earlier, and figured they likely wouldn't even have dinner in order to complete the Chairman's requirement for new proposals by 9 pm.
The employees at Song Corporation wouldn't end up with chronic stomach issues like the CEO, right?
Thinking of this, she turned and gave instructions to Fu Ling.
Very soon, the directors buried in drafting new proposals received a surprise meal delivery from their boss. Although the company had a cafeteria, this was the first time the cafeteria food had been packed in takeout boxes and delivered right to their office desks. Not only that, deliverymen also brought over a dozen cups of milk tea.
Everyone looked at each other holding their boxed meals and cups of milk tea, seeing the shame reflected in each other's eyes.
Chairman Song cared so much about them, yet they were unable to produce a satisfactory proposal for him. How could they have the gall to drink this milk tea! Write! All of you keep writing your hearts out!
Oblivious to the reverse motivation she had sparked in her subordinates, the driver took Zhong Ruanxing to the high-end "Four Seasons Cloud Top" residential community according to the location. Song Jinxing had likely informed them in advance, as the guard checked the license plate and let them through immediately.
Zhong Ruanxing had of course heard of this community. Prime commercial real estate near the CBD was already scarce, and Four Seasons Cloud Top was the cream of the crop. She heard the monthly rent here was five digits, with building heights exceeding their company office tower, and views stretching to the heavens that encompassed all the surrounding hills and dales.
Zhong Ruanxing assumed Song Jinxing had rented a secret love nest here for their future trysts. But upon entering, she saw the home purchase contract on the dining table with her name signed as the buyer, and was completely stunned.
What was going on? She took a nap and woke up with a large downtown CBD condo in her name just like that?!
She didn't even dare dream this big!
Song Jinxing had already started working on his computer. Zhong Ruanxing agonized briefly before going over holding the contract and asking, "Why is my name written as the buyer on this contract?"
Song Jinxing was completely oblivious that anything was amiss. "What's wrong with it?"
Zhong Ruanxing said, "My name is signed and fingerprinted, if this gets transferred back it'll become my property!"
In this location, in this complex, even a single condo was valued in the eight digits!
"It's just a condo," Song Jinxing frowned, seemingly annoyed that she was disturbing his work. "I ordered takeout for you, it's over there."
Zhong Ruanxing: "...Oh."
