Chapter 73
Zhong Ruanxing hung up with a "I have some other things, I'll get going first" and escaped.
This sister looked so magnanimous and gentle, how could she be so stubborn when it came to getting things done. Was Song JinXing's charm really that great? When she got home, Zhong Ruanxing stared at herself seriously in the mirror for a good while.
She had to admit, it really was very great.
Before going to bed, Song JinXing called to ask about tonight's results. Zhong Ruanxing relayed Bai Yinyue's words to him and sighed, "I can't refuse, I really can't refuse. I don't have the heart to be harsh to a beauty, I can't say anything mean."
Song JinXing chuckled a little and said in a low voice, "Then don't worry about her for now, I'll deal with it when I get back."
He brought up another thing, "Zhong You's birthday is in a couple days, and there's no one home. Take her out to celebrate her birthday, okay? I'll call your dad ahead of time to tell him."
Zhong Ruanxing was a little surprised that he even remembered Zhong You's birthday, but then she thought, this was Song JinXing after all, so there really wasn't anything to be surprised about. Laughing Proud Literature
Last year Zhong Ruanxing had been away filming during Zhong You's birthday and wasn't able to rush back. Zhong Dad took a day off to accompany Zhong You, but because he still had to take care of Zhong's mother, he didn't invite any of Zhong You's little friends over or take her to an amusement park.
Zhong You was secretly unhappy for a long time, but she was very sensible and knew her mother was more important. She didn't make a fuss at home, she just kept pestering Zhong Ruanxing to definitely take her to an amusement park for her next birthday.
If they didn't go this year, little Zhong You would probably be secretly crying in her blankets again in the middle of the night.
Zhong Ruanxing had also been planning to go pick up her sister on her birthday anyway, so Song JinXing bringing it up ahead of time worked out perfectly. The next day he called Zhong Dad to tell him about it. Zhong Dad had always trusted his oldest daughter and silently supported her decisions, he just hesitated a little and asked, "Won't it be troubling them?"
Song JinXing said, "No, she really likes Zhong You."
So Zhong Dad agreed.
That night when he got home, Song JinXing called Zhong You again and told her, "The brother you met at home last time will take you to the amusement park tomorrow."
"Yay!" Little Zhong You was incredibly excited and immediately abandoned the sister on the phone, "Then I want to wear my prettiest princess dress! Auntie, hurry and help me find that pink dress!"
Song JinXing: "............"
The next day happened to be the weekend. Zhong Ruanxing told Fu Ling that if there wasn't anything urgent going on, not to look for her. She thought about it, then called Song Shuling.
But little Zhong You let go of her dad's hand and threw herself at Zhong Ruanxing's leg, "Brother!"
Zhong Ruanxing smiled and bent down to pick her up, resisting the urge to peck her chubby little cheeks, "Uncle Zhong, don't worry, I'll safely bring Zhong You back tonight."
Zhong Father tensely nodded, finally working up the courage to softly say, "Thank you for this."
"It's no trouble at all... Uncle Zhong, you should head back now, or you'll be late for work."
Zhong Dad looked at her for a moment, slowly nodded, then turned and left.
Little Zhong You was cute and had a sweet mouth, just like little Zhong Ruanxing. Everyone who met her liked her. Two "Sister Lingling"s completely won Song Shuling over. After getting in the car, Song Shuling handed over the gift box she had prepared.
"Zhong You, this is a birthday present for you."
"Wow! Thank you Sister Lingling!" Zhong You eagerly tore open the gift. Seeing it was a full set of Barbie dolls, she did indeed like it a lot.
When little Zhong You was happy she easily got carried away. She was even more mischievous than little Zhong Ruanxing, and was the boss of her local kindergarten. She immediately started changing the Barbies' outfits on the spot, as excited as a little monkey.
Zhong Ruanxing driving lectured her, "Zhong You! Sit properly! Haven't I told you that you can't mess around in the car, it's dangerous?"
Little Zhong You pouted and obediently sat back properly, and didn't play with the Barbies either.
Song Shuling looked back and forth between Zhong Ruanxing in the driver's seat and the front passenger seat in surprise.
His tone scolding her sounded just like an older brother to his actual little sister, with no attempt to tread carefully at all. And yet Zhong You actually listened to him. If she was just a friend's sister, shouldn't he be more indulgent and lenient?
This strange feeling lingered in Song Shuling's heart until the car drove into the amusement park parking lot and her attention was drawn away by the rollercoaster flying past overhead in the sky.
Zhong You started fidgeting again, "Wow--I want to ride that too!"
Zhong Ruanxing mercilessly rejected her, "No, you're only five years old. That one is only for kids eight and up."
Little Zhong You immediately started bawling, "Every time, every time, every time it's no good! Why am I growing so slowly?!"
