C96 – Time Stood Still
Utilizing the same method, Loong Chen drained the Blood Race members one by one, leaving only Walter.
Walter’s eyes constricted as he watched Loong Chen draw nearer.
An impending sense of peril gripped him, and though he yearned to flee, the Earth Domain held him captive, rendering him immobile.
Soon, Loong Chen stood before Walter, his hand gently resting on Walter’s head, commencing the circulation of the Blood Devouring Devil Arts.
“You and your companions conspired to eliminate us here, but did you truly expect this outcome?” Loong Chen inquired with icy detachment.
His words carried an ominous chill.
Walter responded with manic laughter, proclaiming, “Don’t revel prematurely. Even in death, your escape is unattainable. You lack the means to rupture space, so you’ll remain trapped here, eventually devoured by zombies and mutated beasts.”
Walter’s laughter continued, tinged with madness.
Loong Chen narrowed his eyes, acknowledging the conundrum before him.
Upon uncovering their scheme, he had indeed attempted to employ spatial forces for an escape.
His endeavors, however, proved futile, as an insurmountable barrier thwarted his efforts.
It seemed that, as Walter had insinuated, only those capable of tearing through the fabric of space held the key to freedom.
“Regardless of our departure prospects, your exit remains impossible. Prepare to meet your demise,” Loong Chen declared coldly.
With a resolute resolve, he hastened the Blood Devouring Devil Arts, prompting the surge of successive waves of Blood Qi.
Walter, sensing impending death, finally exhibited a visage of terror.
“I swear vengeance! You’ll pay for this!”
Out of nowhere, Walter unleashed a feral roar, his body undergoing a startling transformation.
Long Chen raised his voice in warning and hastily retreated.
In the blink of an eye, Walter’s form exploded, yet contrary to Loong Chen’s expectations, there was no gush of blood.
Instead, he transformed into a swarm of bats, scattering in all directions.
“Think you can escape?”
Loong Chen sneered coldly and intensified the gravitational pull within the Earth Domain.
Bats that had taken flight now plummeted to the ground, crushed into a gruesome pulp by the overwhelming gravitational force.
Nevertheless, a few bats had already evaded capture. In this vast expanse, teeming with zombie-like mutated beasts, locating a handful of tiny bats was akin to searching for a needle in a haystack.
Acting with haste, Loong Chen invoked Teleportation and materialized beside Dugu Lengyue, just as the Devil Bear Lord’s temporal flow returned to normal.
Given Loong Chen’s present capabilities, he could only maintain control for a mere one or two seconds.
“Golden Domineering Body! World Dominating!”
Loong Chen had no time for contemplation at this juncture; he instinctively launched a punch.
Augmented by the might of World Dominating, the power behind this strike even reached the level of a Level 5 High Rank.
Nonetheless, he remained outmatched by the Devil Bear Lord.
The collision of the two fists sent an irresistible force surging toward Loong Chen.
Leveraging this tremendous force, Loong Chen gripped Dugu Lengyue’s waist and executed a graceful mid-air spin before landing gracefully on the ground.
Loong Chen coughed, a trace of blood emerging from the corner of his mouth.
While his Vajra Domineering Body had attained its zenith, rendering his bodily defenses impervious, the Devil Bear Lord’s assault still inflicted minor injuries upon him.
“Are you alright?”
In this critical moment, Dugu Lengyue finally regained her composure, gazing at Loong Chen’s pallid face with deep concern.
Throughout the many years she had lived, Loong Chen, aside from her master, was the first person who had treated her with such care.
Confronted by the menacing overlord-level mutated beast, everyone sought refuge as far away as possible. Remarkably, Loong Chen took the initiative to dash over and shield her.
In this moment, Dugu Lengyue regarded Loong Chen with a different outlook. Initially, her interest in him had been spurred by her master’s request alone.
Yet now, she discovered a peculiar fondness growing within her for the man who had risked everything to protect her.
“I’m okay. How about you?” Loong Chen inquired, gradually regaining his breath. The formidable power of his bloodline bestowed upon him an exceptional self-healing ability, surpassing that of ordinary individuals.
While it didn’t grant instant recovery, it did alleviate his discomfort.
“Thank you,” Dugu Lengyue uttered, her expression masking the complexity of her emotions. She wished to convey so much to Loong Chen at this moment but struggled to articulate her feelings.
In the end, her words distilled into a simple expression of gratitude.
Loong Chen waved his hand, oblivious to the enigmatic expression on Dugu Lengyue’s face.
Meanwhile, she continued to regard him with a curious sentiment.
His attention, however, remained fixed on the Devil Bear Lord, his demeanor grave.
“Our priority now is to deal with this Devil Bear Lord; otherwise, our fate is sealed,” he stated earnestly.
Even Loong Chen himself harbored doubts about his ability to conquer a Lord-Class mutated beast.
