If Bai Lan weren’t helping him, Long Chen would’ve been in deep trouble. Thankfully, his safety was guaranteed at least for a little while since Suyan still needed him. As long as Suyan needed him, Bai Lan would never abandon Long Chen and would even go so far as to help him.

There was nothing he could do now but deal with the problems as they popped up. Long Chen accepted this when his secret was leaked.

On the other hand, Situ Yao was troubled that Long Chen’s secret was leaked. He hadn’t run off but instead was waiting just a couple of Li away. When he heard Chen Yang’s final shout, he smashed a tree out of anger.

“Chen Yang, you idiot! I can’t believe he did that! Fuck! Now it won’t be easy for me to take the inheritance anymore. Even if the two clan leaders don’t want it, the seven Thunder Elders of the Thunder clan and the eight Sect Elders of the Demon clan will definitely covet it! My plan has failed horrendously tonight. I never thought that Suxue would be up there and Long Chen would survive the night! Shit! I never thought I would fail so horribly!”

He had no choice but to change back to his regular attire. He could feel that everyone in the Heavenly Wood City was stirring after the huge commotion and Chen Yang’s shout. Everyone’s goal was undoubtedly Long Chen and the inheritance of the Seven Star Lord. The eight Sect Elders and the seven Thunder Elders were the fastest. The seven Thunder Elders of the Thunder clan and the eight Sect Elders were equally strong since they were all at the Ninth Earthly Martial Stage.

The only one in the Thunder clan who knew about the inheritance of the Seven Star Lord was Lei Ji.

A thousand people were running up towards Long Chen. It was not at all surprising to him that everyone would be panicking down there.

“What should we do? Everyone wants the inheritance of the Seven Star Lord, including the Sect Elders. What should we do now that everyone knows about it?” Suxue wasn’t sure what to do. She thought that he was only good at alchemy, but she never thought he would be so strong as well. Even Suxue herself had to be wary of Long Chen’s final technique. Unbeknownst to her, she was slowly placing Long Chen at the center of her heart.

“We should go down now. There’s no need to worry,” Long Chen responded with a frown. It was the only thing they could do now. He thought that his time in Heavenly Wood City would be smooth and uneventful. He never would've guessed that two separate incidents would take place on the first two days he had come up to cultivate.

They descended swiftly and appeared in the skies of Heavenly Wood City. In the dark of the night, everyone saw Long Chen and stopped.

Right now, the regular cultivators had surged into the inner circles of Heavenly Wood City. Thousands of them were spurred on by their greed. Even the Demon and Thunder clans could not hold them back. But because the regular cultivators didn’t have anyone exceptionally strong to lead them, they dared not cause trouble and merely spectated.

Long Chen swept the scene in front of him and saw a large sea of bobbing heads. All of them were looking at Long Chen with greed. Barely any of them paid attention to Suxue.

Unfortunately, Long Chen could not reveal this, since he could not provide proof. Situ Yao was in a foul mood while he watched the other Sect Elders demanding the inheritance of the Seven Star Lord.

The regular cultivators could only curse in their hearts. They dared not make any rash moves when the situation was still under control. As for the Thunder clan, the seven Thunder Elders were abnormally silent. No one knew what they were thinking.

The Thunder clan had become a subsidiary of the Demon clan and chose to heed their orders, but it was clear that they had their own thoughts.

Everyone was looking at Long Chen to see what he would decide.

“Uncles, please don’t worry. My father and Uncle Lei aren't here yet. We can wait for them to get here before we decide to do anything! They are the clan leaders after all. The inheritance of the Seven Star Lord is a grave matter that only they can decide on!” Suxue was smart, so she threw the baton to the two clan leaders. No one, not even the Sect Elders and the Thunder Elders, could say anything.

The elder who had spoken to Long Chen frowned. “The Clan Leader is busy. We can decide such matters ourselves. In order to prevent any mishaps and make sure no innocent people die, it's better if Long Chen gives us the inheritance of the Seven Star Lord for safeguarding.”

Everyone knew that Long Chen was the savior of Bai Lan’s daughter, and he needed to continue treating her. Once Bai Lan arrived, it was likely that things wouldn't go as the Sect Elders had planned, since Bai Lan was an unconventional individual. The eight Sect Elders wanted to deal with this as quickly as possible.

Suxue was angry and was going to berate them, but Long Chen stopped her. He had sensed Bai Lan and Lei Ji nearby.

Looking at the elders' expressions, Long Chen knew that he would be safe today. Bai Lan must’ve thought that something like this would happen since he had allowed Long Chen to cultivate up in the skies. At this point in time, the two clan leaders were secretly watching them from a distance away. They did not intend to do anything for now; they merely pointed at Long Chen and chuckled as they discussed something.

Long Chen realized that they were nearby, but he couldn’t pinpoint their location. He had to admit that cultivators at the Heavenly Martial Realm were indeed different.

The Sect Elders' eyes revealed their hostility as they waited for Long Chen to say something. It was clear that if he didn’t want to give them the inheritance, they would just take it anyway.

Long Chen glared at them and finally spoke when he saw they were at the limit of their patience. “Who said I have it? Do you have any idea what happened just now? Someone called Chen Yang tried to kill me, but I killed him instead. This is just a trick pulled by someone on the verge of death. Do you really believe it?”

Long Chen chose to deny it. They didn’t have any proof after all.
