Chapter 5 – My Principal Challenge

Chapter 5 – My Principal Challenge

Even in the darkness that was all around me, I had a glimpse of these messages from the system.

[YOU HAVE DIED!]

"How can this happen? I'm dead, but I'm still conscious..."

My voice could echo in the darkness, but it seemed that no one was there to hear it.

I used to think that the systems were super advanced technology, but, at that moment, it became clearer than ever that the systems were beyond anything I could comprehend. It wasn't technology; it was something divine.

As I floated in this darkness, without body, without form, I began to think about my life up to that point. How miserable and pathetic it had been. Before I was transported to this world, my life had been a series of failures and disappointments. I was nobody, just another face in the crowd, with no direction, no purpose. My days were filled with a dead-end job that barely paid the bills.

The feeling of emptiness, of being trapped between life and death, forced me to face the truths I usually avoided thinking about. Did this mean I was evolving?

"My life... what a shitty life I've had so far." I laughed bitterly, but without smiling. "Always running after something, always trying to be somebody. Never being enough... I was never really the best student, no matter how hard I tried, I never had many friends. I was always the weird guy..."

The silence of the darkness was unbearable.

"All that just to end up like this?"

I had always dreamed of adventure, of magic, of a greater purpose. But after receiving the Explorer System, all of that seemed so distant, so unattainable.

My empty, self-deprecating thoughts were interrupted by a new message that shone through the darkness of that supernatural void.

[You have been resurrected.]

"Ah! Finally! I thought I'd be stuck here with myself for all eternity!"

Soon, an intense wave of light enveloped me and pulled me back into the consciousness of my body. When my eyes opened, I saw the ceiling above me, a simple sight, but one that seemed almost surreal after the out-of-body experience I had had.

I blinked a few times, trying to adjust my vision. I was no longer in the park where Yumma had pierced my belly with the spear.

System windows began to appear, filling my field of vision with information.

"Yes, and I'm also your master. I'm counting on you from now on, Leonard Tonello."

I took a deep breath and stopped looking away from her. This seemed to surprise her a little, but she continued to smile.

"You may not remember, but yesterday you were stabbed right here." She pointed to her belly button and started to stand.

As her legs came off the bed and she stood in front of me, I could finally see what the anime didn't show. Her vagina was like I'd always imagined. No, it was even better. I expected the hair underneath to be red too, but she didn't even have any hair there.

"You suffered a mortal wound, but you healed in just one night. That's amazing. You're tougher than I thought."

'Ah, yes, yes... I have to follow the script.' I thought and finally asked: "But why were you naked with me?"

"I had to bathe you in magic to heal you by hugging you naked. But don't worry, I'm still a virgin."

Just then, while Rias was putting on her panties, a system notification appeared for me.
