Chapter 6136: Karma
The azure sky with a blue ocean didn’t look like a part of the major ghost market. The waves and breezes were pleasant, pulling visitors away from reality.
“Splash!” The flood tiger following Li Qiye all this time jumped happily into the ocean, resembling a dragon returning to the water.
As it played around, the water seemed to be different. Bubbles and ripples contained tiny dao laws only visible to those with powerful heavenly gazes.
Countless unique dao laws created the ocean. Once the tiger had enough, it returned to Li Qiye’s feet and whimpered.
“Go, dragons have to return to the ocean eventually.” Li Qiye smiled and rubbed its head.
The tiger hummed quietly and enjoyed his touch. After a bit, it lowered its head and jumped into the ocean.
Li Qiye watched it disappear into the bottomless depth with a smile.
The group approached a bridge crossing this world, seemingly the only entity in this vast expanse of sky and ocean.
As he and the group of five walked across, light shimmered beneath their feet. A temple awaited them on the other side, but perhaps calling it a pavilion was more fitting.
Each brick and tile had signs of aging. Only a statue was inside, looking smaller than the group. It looked to be made from iron wire, more like a machine than a man or ghost. It had arms and legs with strange oval eyes. Its flat head had something like a hat that was unreasonably long.
One could imagine the creator bending iron wires together to create this strange statue. Its chest was nearly pierced through; the broken iron wires twisted together in the center.
When sitting down for a careful look, there was a broken piece of weapon stuck inside. It was barely discernible and emitted a faint light.
“This is our Ghost Monarch.” The bald old man introduced.
“Not mine this time.” Nameless became frustrated.
“Not mine either, I had severed the past already.” The old man shrugged.
Li Qiye, on the other hand, carefully observed the wound and said: “Entered the first step already, looks like more devouring than just one guy.”
“Probably the three immortals too.” Water murmured.
“Impossible because everyone would know.” Fog said.
“Then how did he become an immortal? No one else could outside of the three immortals and the geezers from the Redemption Grounds.” Water said.
“Zhan Sansheng, Desolate Ancestor.” The old man said: “And him.”
“What do you think about him as an immortal?” Nameless asked.
“Hard to say, it’s not the proper dao, so just a pseudo-immortal. But, this immortal corpseworm is frightening indeed, problematic once caught.” The old man said.
“That’s what he relied on to eat an immortal?” Water said.
“No, other tricks were at play.” The old man said: “After all, the three immortals have always been the main fighting force. Everyone knows about Fire Ancestor being the three immortals’ disciple, but he was even closer to them.”
“What a shame, not choosing the proper dao. Otherwise, he had a chance to reach this level with the help of the three immortals.” Li Qiye said.
“Haha, unending greed, a serpent wanting to swallow an elephant. Nevertheless, he actually swallowed one, I have to admit that it’s impressive.” Water said.
