CHAPTER 48
Just as Lawyer Chang had informed her, on Monday morning, he arrived in front of the Liu Company to see her.
A small knock resounded on her door, pulling her out of her concentration to the door.
Someone was there for her. Regardless, Andromeda could not be bothered by who it was. Without a second thought to it, Andromeda responded as she typed on her laptop. "Come in."
Following her instructions, the door was opened and he stepped inside. Her office wasn't very big like most CEOs. However, it had all she needed and enough space to allow her creativity to flow.
His gaze fell straight on the table on the left side of the office housing several drawing sheets with a long rule on them.
His lips held a faint smile of satisfaction and his eyes twinkled and he nodded in approval. Sure, she was the workaholic.
However, when Andromeda did not get any response from the person who walked in, she was forced to pry her eyes to look at him.
"Lawyer Chang!" she exclaimed in shock.
Although when he told her he was visiting the office, she gave him the needed details. Surprisingly he had no hard time finding her office or calling her.
"Good morning Miss Kai."
"Morning, please come in and have a sit," Andromeda said as she got up on her feet.
He moved closer till he got to her desk and exchanged handshakes then sat down. "Your office is nice, I must say."
"Thank you."
"I can tell it is much better than when you were at the Wu family's company. I got the opportunity of visiting there once, so I recall."
"Yeah. I am doing okay. So I cannot have Wu Bai disturb my life anymore."
"Better that way, Miss Kai. I do not sense bad energy around you here. This is good."
A pure smile formed on her lips. If only he knew what she had to do while resuming work here.
It was in the past though. At least she was never going to let anyone trample on her again.
"Yes," he opened his briefcase and brought out the files and handed them over to her. "Here you go. Just as I promised. You are a free woman, Miss Kai."
She accepted the documents from him with a satisfied smile and nodded her head. She did not waste time and opened the file holding the contract.
"There. Duly signed. No mistakes. No errors. I ensured he did it right." Her eyes skimmed through the document, scrolling through pages till she got to the last part.
"Anything you noted perhaps?" He asked when he noticed the calm look on her face. Honestly, he expected better. For her to be happy or something but all he got was just that face.
Unpredictable. Unreadable.
"No. Not at all." She closed the file and kept it aside. "I am relieved. More relieved than even happy."
"I see. Why are you not so happy?"
"I want… No. It is more like when you earnestly want something and then you get it later. There is a kind of joy of relief. So, I am more relieved I am done with that scoundrel."
"Alright. As you wish. I would also have the restraining order sent to him, to prevent any form of assault in the future." She nodded but did not say anything.
"Alright. I see you were busy earlier and also you would need time with this news and all. I still have some things to do so I would be taking my leave first."
"Thank you for all your work, Lawyer Chang."
"My pleasure." He stood up, shook his hand and turned to leave.
Quickly, she left her seat and walked him out of the door. Not wanting to be a bad host, she accompanied him to the elevator and bade him goodbye.
As soon as the elevator shut close, Andromeda heaved a deep sigh of relief and a satisfied smile brightened her face.
Finally, she was done. Due to the fact that she was too busy with her thoughts, she failed to notice the pair of eyes that were fixed on her until she turned and lifted her head.
? Her brows raised in shock when their gaze met and all the muscles in her body went tensed immediately. A flash of their time in the car came running through her mind again.
Her heart thudded wildly in her chest almost bursting her eardrums but she did not move. It felt like her adrenaline failed her and none of her body refused to move.
She watched as a smirk appeared on his lips before he freed his suit button and placed a hand in his pocket as he took the first step in her direction.
Finally, she blinked but her gaze remained on his face.
One step, a second and at the third her brain regained its functions again. "Uh, I have work to do," she said in a hurry and wasted no time in turning in the direction of her office as she scurried away.
He stopped in his tracks and dimmed his eyes at her behaviour. Since he drove her home, this was the first time they were meeting since that Saturday.
He had planned on checking up on her today to see how she was doing, adjusting to the role but never would he expect that even when they met, she would be this shy.
He let out a small laugh and shook his head. 'Keep running, my na?ve creative director. You cannot run forever.' With that thought in mind, he turned away and continued on his path.
The moment she got into her office, she slammed the door hard and locked it with the keys before relaxing against it.
She brought her hands up, placing them against her chest, hoping to calm her fast-beating heart.
But no matter what she did, plus the constant reminder her mind kept on replaying from that day, she just could not.
'Oh come on!' She half-yelled in her mind. This was not how she planned her day. Her cheeks had already begun to heat up from the thoughts.
'Gosh, I can't believe I am blushing.' She reached up and placed her hands on her cheeks while a shy smile worked its way into her face, reaching her eyes.
