Chapter 189 He Fell For It

CHAPTER 189

"I stole her designs."

Although saying those words, Wu Bai already anticipated it. However, hearing her speak it loud and clear with no form of worries whatsoever in her eyes, made it more intolerable.

He never said she should not steal or anything but why would you get caught and let…

Wu Bai pressed his lips in while holding in the urge to yell out at her.

"Why?" He managed to let out, after forcing down his anger.

"You asked me to do something to make the fashion show stand out."

"Really?" He could not believe her right now. "And you did not think to change designs?"

"I did a bit but I did not want to alter so much and keep the beauty so that we could stand out so much. Honestly, I never expected them to release it soon."

"No, how would you? How could you be so dull to not know it was a setup and you fell for it blindly!"

Instantly the rage he managed to keep in came roaring in full force. He could care less at this point in time.

Time was not on his side. He couldn't lose any more. He needed to figure a way out of this.

Blinking confusingly at him, Beatrice Lifted her head quickly, daring herself to look into his eyes to see if he was lying or if this was a joke or something.

"Wait, what?"

"What is what?"

"I hired a professional to get me those designs. There was no way…"

"Speak for yourself because you are clearly seeing the evidence being released."

She lowered her gaze and placed a finger on her lips while her mind worked, trying to figure out where things had gone wrong.

This was not the first time she had hired the young man and each time he delivered with no problem.

So why now did things become this way?

By the time you finished thinking, we would be in a hot pot of soup. Now, what can we do about the dresses?"

"Use them like that."

"What?"

"We can deny it. After all, if we make it look like she stole our designs then there would be nothing to worry about."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. It would make more sense considering she released the new batch of clothes so soon. It is to create rumours after launching our, that she was too scared so she tried to sabotage us. The public would be on our side."

"Hmm…"

"Yes. It is either that or we cancel the fashion show."

"Cancel? Are you mad?"

"Yes and no. I did what you asked of me. Either we raise our chin up to get past this or we cower before Andromeda. Either way, I refuse to fall before her and beg if that is what she is asking."

He thought a bit about her proposal and finally decided to go with it.

He for one did not want to kneel before Andromeda but one question plagued him.

"Also, I doubt she has any proof that I stole from her. And if she doesn't, she is bluffing, waiting for us to make a mistake. If she does, she would have used it by now to get back at us."

"True."

"Yes. So, let's move on with the original plan."

Nodding his head, he dropped both hands to his side, allowing his thoughts the freedom to tour his mind.

If Andromeda did not have proof, then how did she know those were the outfits for the show?

"I think we have a spy," Wu bai confirmed finally.

There was nothing anyone would tell him at this point to dispute that fact.

The question now was, who was this spy?

****

The end of the fashion show came quickly and as planned; Beatrice had people instantly instigate news about Andromeda's new release.

Not that the latter was bothered, she had just recently gotten tons of orders and she was sure that the materials she used to make them would be different from theirs.

Seated in her living room, Andromeda sat on her couch listening to the evening news, while plotting out her own plans.

Being ruthless wasn't necessarily in her nature but for the payback, she planned on becoming one.

Ring! Ring!

Peeling her gaze from the television screen, Andromeda directed it at the door before checking the time on the wall clock.

'Who could it be at this time of the night? Has Wu Bai decided to make his move?'

Just at the thought of it, her lips tugged up from the side, revealing a bit of tooth.

If Wu Bai came, then that simply meant, her plans were going accordingly.

She got up and headed for the door, to see who it was. To her amazement, the man on her porch wasn't who she had expected him to be.

Wasting no time, Andromeda opened the door wide, letting her eyes mirror the shock in them.

"Xueyi!"

"Hey, Andy. Apologies for not calling and coming unannounced."

She shook her head at him before ushering him in, "Come inside."

"Thanks."

Together they got into the house but unlike how his naughty fingers usually latched on to her body, he surprised Andromeda by being well behaved.

"Where are you coming from by this time?"

"Umm, I had some errands to tend to," Liu Xueyi explained.

"Errands? By this time? Wait where are you driver, your..."

"I am no child, Andromeda. I can do things myself from time to time."

"Sure."

Minutes passed and they sat there awkwardly. She could tell he had so much on his mind to say but he didn't.

Left to her, she knew what they were but she wished for him to speak on his own.

"Umm, Andy."

"Yes?"

"You know why I am here, I guess right?"

"Depends? I made several decisions this past week."

"Without me," Liu Xueyi cut in quickly.

"I am sorry but you were busy and I decided to handle things."

"I know."

"Huh?" She tilted her head to the side in shock but when she saw the strong look of displeasure in his eyes, Andromeda felt a chill run down her spine.

'He is not happy I sidelined him.' She noted in her head.

"All of your activities in bringing Wu Bai down, I know and for a moment there I got scared but, in the end, I see, he fell for it."

The cold look in his eyes instantly dropped, leaving a charming pleased smile.

"You did well. I am proud."
