CHAPTER 239
Andromeda's eyes widened a fraction when she heard Peng Xiaoli's analysis.
"To make it worse, your hair is scattered and looked like a rush work to comb through and hide the messy state it was in. Furthermore, your clothes are rumpled at the breast and your skirt is not…"
"Stop!"
A small laugh fell off Peng Xiaoli's lips at her behaviour.
Chuckling further, the latter arched her brows at Andromeda expectantly and when she lifted her eyes to meet hers, no longer did her smile remain.
It was as plain as day, she returned to how she saw her when the doors were opened - a bit flushed and shy.
"Why are you shy? Last, I recall, I thought you clearly stated nothing was going on?" Peng Xiaoli asked, with a sparkle glimmering in her eyes.
The very ones that seemed to appear anytime she was proven right.
"You seem to have forgotten. I was with you when you were in love for five years. I know how you react when you see the one you love."
At this point, Andromeda felt like she was an open book, up for display and she did not like any bit of it.
"So, you see, Miss Kai, it is one thing for me to assume, however, it is safe to say that my assumptions wouldn't be far from the truth. You and Mr. Liu made out and my visit interrupted that."
She winked at Andromeda with a brilliant smile before letting both hands fall to her side as she relaxed in her seat.
"I…"
"Stop there, say no more," Andromeda interjected as she raised her palms in front of her. "Not one more."
"What?"
"Don't play dumb with me, Xiaoli."
"I am not. I am just stating facts."
"Tsk, facts you could have ignored."
"Besides, why are you feeling shy? Everyone knows that you and he are dating. All I can say is that I find it cute."
For a minute, Andromeda refrained from uttering any words as she took her time to digest all that Peng Xiaoli said.
She was right. It was true. She just couldn't deny that fact.
Nevertheless, because she and Liu Xueyi had just officially began dating, it felt like this was the first time she was doing such a thing.
"I understand. I am sorry you caught me in the most unprofessional manner."
She released a heavy sigh after rendering her apology. By the time she raised her head up once more, her eyes landed on a still smiling Peng Xiaoli.
"Why would you bother apologizing to me? Peng Xiaoli confronted her calmly.
"I... Huh, what I mean," Andromeda pushed the loose strands of hair that fell forward on her face backwards and placed both hands delicately on the desk in front of her.
"What I mean is, I should lead by example."
"No need to be that way with me. I know you best, Miss Kai. Anyways, Mr. Liu aside, let's change the topic and clear the tense atmosphere. If there is anything I am happy you are moving on from whatever struggles you had faced in your relationship. Falling in love is a beautiful thing."
"Thanks."
"Anytime. I must say he is doing a good job considering how bashful you are and freshly looking at your face and body. It is like you were given extra shine."
"Okay, enough compliments before you make me blush so intensely."
"Did I need to do anything?" Peng Xiaoli inquired. "I think Mr. Liu already set the pace and the fire. All I did was fan the flames a bit and viola."
As she spoke, her hands spread apart to either side of her head, in a display of an exciting scenario.
"Big flames. Hahaha." Just listening to her laugh like that, Andromeda squinted at her.
She knew she had just been fired. However, the look on her face and the smile in her eyes said a different thing.
"By the way, for someone who just lost her job, you seem to be doing good, playing with me this way. Or is this just an approach you want to use in hiding your tears? You know if you want to cry, I am all here for you."
Before Peng Xiaoli could respond to any of her words, Andromeda added more words to it, leaving the girl speechless.
And when she was done, all Peng Xiaoli did was smile at her.
? Sadly, this time she was wrong. If there was anything, she would be shocked as to how she handled Beatrice Zhang.
"Ma'am Andromeda," Peng Xiaoli called out.
"Yes?"
"I made myself get fired. I let it happen."
"What?"
"Yes. I cannot cry over a stupid company like that. Especially having to serve under Beatrice Zhang. If it wasn't for you, I would have left a long time ago."
Andromeda's eyes widened a fraction by the news but the second they did, she narrowed her gaze back at her, ignoring the crease on her brows and forehead.
"I see. How did she react?"
"She cleared some of my suspicions and if we can, I suggest we plan outrightly."
"What do you mean?"
"Simple, I insinuated I knew what she did in secret. Although she feels she has gotten rid of me but I believe she may try to make contact with her people."
Instantly, Andromeda's expression became serious.
"Maybe warn them to lie low for now or she hides for now. Regardless, she would need to meet with them soon. For that, I am sure."
"Got it. Alright, feel me in on all of the good stuff. I know I clearly said you should stay out of it a bit and just monitor her. I should have expected this from you even though I am not present in that company again."
'What can I say? I am not as good as you are. And for all she has done to you, I would help you ensure she pays. It would soon be time to visit the court. She would like my present."
