CHAPTER 322 â€" You Did Well
On getting outside, Liu Xueyi got into the car and got the gift package he got for his mum, leaving the two ladies to have a little talk.
Andromeda had smiles all over her face. She dipped her head in appreciation once more.
"No need for that. It was needed. At the very least I got to see Xueyi again."
Andromeda's brows pulled close together at her words. "Wait, he still doesn't visit m=often?"
Mrs. Liu shook her head, letting out a sigh she said, "Unfortunately no."
"That's not right. How can he miss your cooking like this?"
"Hahhaa," she let out a peal of laughter at Andromeda's flattering.
"What? Your meal was nice, you know. I loved it."
"Why thank you, Andromeda. It means a lot to me. However, Xueyi can cook well. He is the best between both of my children," she revealed.
"You're kidding, right?"
"No. Do not tell me you have not tasted his cooking?"
"I have."
"And...?" Mrs. Liu's voice trailed off expectantly. She lifted her brows, wanting to see if Andromeda would refute her words or not.
She knew her son was picky about letting anyone eat his food.
Back then when he stayed with them, he refused to allow anyone to eat it, aside from his mother, which only happened when she tasted his food for him and gave her judgement.
And when he travelled abroad for his studies and returned, it did not take him time to start staying on his own.
From there she no longer had the chance to taste his meal. She wondered if he allowed Andromeda to eat though.
If she did, then it meant that he loved her more than he loved his ex.
Just the same way she questioned Andromeda, Mrs Liu Jialing did the same with his ex when she first met the lady.
And her answer was a simple no.
"Yes. You are right. His cooking is solid. It's great, to be honest. I am proud."
"You see. Even you agree with me," Mrs Liu Jialing beamed.
"Yeah, because it is the truth."
"Okay, between his cooking and mine, which tastes better?" Her eyes widened for a moment there before narrowing to Andromeda.
She hated lies and hoped Andromeda would not fall victim to such to curry her favour.
"His," Andromeda stated firmly.
"Really? Why or how?"
"Well from what I have tasted from both, Liu Xueyi gets the taste of every meal he makes well. You do too, but there is a slight difference and that would be in taste."
"Hmm?"
"What I mean is, as the older one, you are inclined not to make all food too tasty and so u make it calm a little bit from his."
"Hmm."
"Well, that may be a wrong justification. Also, if you two had cooked the same meal, then perhaps it would be better to judge that way."
'Do not patronize me," Mrs Liu Jialing hinted and smiled at her. "You were doing great just now."
She waved off the topic and shook her head. "Even I know he is better."
"Then he learnt from the best," Andromeda added with a heart-soothing smile.
"Yes. And from other bests. There is adequate precision in his cooking. Both of meat, turkey, chicken, fish, grilling, steaming, cooking, frying, roasting, of different meals, ah!"
Her shoulders slumped as she gave up. She dropped her hands by her side in defeat as her gaze landed behind Andromeda where he stood at the passenger's side of the car, smiling at them.
"He is just too good. I love my son, Andromeda."
"I do too."
"Not more than I do that's for sure," she teased.
"Actually, more than you do."
"Hmm. Okay. I won't argue."
"Thanks."
She hummed and beckoned on Liu Xueyi. Within seconds he closed the gap between them and handed her the gift.
While she was busy taking a glimpse of what was inside, Liu Xueyi wrapped his right hand around Andromeda's waist and placed a peck on her cheek.
"You did well today love," he whispered into her ears.
She was forced to turn her head to the side and look at him. The moment she did, he placed a peck on her lips, winking at her shocked expression.
Ahem!
They snapped their head to the side, recalling they had an audience. "Well, it seems you two can't wait to get home and my presence here is disturbing."
'No. Mum, please. Do not pay attention to his naughtiness. My apologies," Andromeda bowed her head again.
"Hahhaa, is she always this apologetic?" Mrs. Liu Jialing questioned, pointing her left thumb at Andromeda.
"Sometimes. She doesn't like to offend."
"True. That is a good trait, however, I love the feisty woman I saw in there," she advised and instantly her lips tugged downwards. Her eyes were more intense than before.
Andromeda who had a face full of smiles, was shocked by the change. She barely had time to understand what was going on when Liu Jialing spoke.
"The world is cruel Andromeda. Never you forget that. There are those who would want to trample on you. You must show them you are not weak and who rules. However, in the face of severe life-threatening danger where there is nothing you can do, it is safe to run."
She pressed her lips into a thin line, hoping Andromeda understood her meaning. She loved talking but when it came to important matters, she gave a few words and that was it.
"Thank you. I would always remember those words."
"Very good." She averted her gaze to Liu Xueyi and continued. "I like her. Also, thanks so much for the gift. I would not keep you two further. Please drive safely and keep in touch," Mrs Liu. Urged.
"Sure mum. Thanks for everything."
They bid her goodbye, placing light pecks on her cheeks before getting into the car.
Once in, he stared at Andromeda with a face full of pride and joy. She made his day when she stood up for herself.
He had no problem defending her, but he was glad to see her getting tough.
Satisfied with everything, he placed a kiss on the back of her palm before driving off and leaving her stunned.
