Chapter 330 His True Nature

CHAPTER 340

"You heard me. You may have been brilliant all this while, but if for a minute you wish to believe Wu Bai's words, then you are not just dull but stupid and I made a mistake hiring you."

As much as she felt insulted, Attorney Longwei decided to keep calm and keep things under control.

Quarrelling and insulting each other was what their opponents wanted them to do. She could not see herself giving in to that need for any reason.

Inhaling deeply, she dropped her right hand from her waist and nodded at her.

"I would give that hand to insult me now. However, this would be the last time. One more insult and I will be dropping your case," she threatened.

"Welp, I guess I have been reduced to such a sorry state for even an attorney to threaten me. Tsk," she placed her hands on the table and smiled at her. "Wu Bai that crook."

"He is your best chance and ally," Attorney Longwei pushed forward, ignoring her earlier insult.

She hated to be seen as a loser. Should she leave now, that would be how people would see her. No one would know it was because of her client's abusive tongue.

Besides, when she calmly thought about the problem at hand, she had the chance to fully view the matter.

For Wu Bia, being roped in with this investigation would do him and his company no good.

It was safe to say he would do all he could to not get dragged down by this even though he may be part of the investigation.

Now, if that was true, Longwei was scared that she might be making a mistake in thinking good about him.

At the very least Beatrice had been working for him for such a long time now. Anything concerning knowing him better would be attributed to her.

"Might I ask, how long have you known Wu Bai?"

"For as long as I can know and tell you he is nothing but a crook."

"Interesting. Fine. I would believe your words now."

"Your cup of tea if you do not."

"Yes," she ignored her. "No, we should not fight. If Wu Bai would not side with you because of what you did, we need to find you another solution. "

"I know. However, with or without what I did, Wu Bai was going to ditch me. He has a company image to maintain. What do you think he would do?"

"Deny you."

"Yes. I would not wait for him to do that first before roping him while I have the chance. If he does not like it, he should bring me out. Else, we both go down together."

Her smile spilt into her eyes at that thought. She did not mind losing since her sins had been broadcast. However, she could not suffer it in silence.

"Also, help me get in touch with Mrs. Fang Mei. Kai Beifang's wife."

"Wait. Isn't that Miss Kai's stepmother?"

"Affirmative. I need her help. She knows these are dangerous times. She needs to act fast. Help me out, would you?"

With her face still plastered with smiles, Andromeda leaned back against her chair and let her head drop.

"That would be all. I am tired and will need my rest."

She did not wait for Attorney Longwei to speak before closing her eyes and going into her own form of seclusion.

She needed to start getting used to her life should in case things went out of plan.

Heaving out a sigh, Attorney Longwei shook her head and picked up her bag, leaving her hair cascading down her shoulder and back.

"See you tomorrow. I would arrange with someone to ensure you get a good stay here."

"Okay."

*******

As soon as Wu Bai stepped into his house, he threw his phone on the chair and yelled in anger.

He had only been happy today, hoping the case would be turned in their favour. Little did he know things would go terribly badly for him.

And to think that cunning fox Beatrice was going to betray him like that.

"What was I expecting from that ungrateful bitch?" A dark glint flashed in his eyes as his brows snapped close. "Useless without me," he added, letting his bitterness seep out.

"But you should have expected this from her, shouldn't you?" Si Chun asked.

"Not really. She knows she stands a lot to lose should I be tied with this case. Who would exonerate her?"

"What if she has her own plans up her sleeves? Would you still stay those worlds out loud?" Si Chun inquired.

The young man walked over to one of the couches in the living room as he sat down carelessly and let his body go, accepting the sweet caress it brought.

"I doubt. I have known her for a very long time. She doesn't have anyone aside from me," Wu Bai boasted and raised his chin.

"How sure are you?"

"I am because her cry for help clearly said that."

Lifting his brow at Wu Bai, Si Chun wondered when that happened that he was not aware of it in court. "Cry for help?"

As important as Beatrice was to Wu Bai, he was equally needed in running the business. His administrative post gave him more headaches and he was hardly ever seen.

Now that there was a strong case for them, he knew he had to be present and he was sure Beatrice in all of her pride would not cry to Wu bai for help.

"The moment she called my name, thaw as her secretly pleading with me to get both of us out of the situation," Wu Bai mused as he recalled her desperate attempt when she was cornered.

"Are you sure? Because I am not sure that is the case."

'What do you mean?" Wu Bai questioned in a challenging manner.

"Nothing. All I can say is expect the unexpected. It is Beatrice Zhang we are talking about."

"And she can do nothing more than a dead rat."
