CHAPTER 333
Ever since Longwei left Beatrice Zhang, she did not bother with speaking to Wu Bai and went straight for the Kai residence.
She knew better than anyone that if Wu Bai willed it that Beatrice should go down, then he would.
At this point, it was better to have him as an ally than as an enemy.
Sadly, that simple common sense was what Beatrice Zhang lacked in earnest.
Ringing the doorbell in front of Kai's mansion, Attorney Longwei took a step back and waited for the door to be answered.
A few seconds after, a young maid walked over to the door and unlocked it.
The moment her eyes caught sight of her, she smiled before greeting.
"Good evening, Miss. How may I help you?"
"Yes, good evening. My name is Attorney Longwei. I am here on behalf of Miss Zhang to see Mrs Kai."
"Oh. Is she expecting you?"
"No. Not really but it is urgent and I believe she needs to hear what I have to say."
The young maid carefully cast a glance at her as though she could see through her with an x-rayed vision and nodded her head.
"Okay, give me a minute let me inform the madam of your presence."
"Thank you."
Not long after the maid disappeared into the house, she returned bearing good news.
Pulling the door open, she stepped to the side to grant Attorney Longwei access. Directing her in after locking the door, both ladies made their way to the living room.
One thought her time of coming was later. Fang Mei was glad it was not a time when her husband was at home.
Peeling her gaze from the newspaper in her hand, Fang Mei lowered her glasses a bit and with it, kept her eyes firmly locked on Attorney Longwei.
"Hello, how may I help you?"
Good evening, Mrs Kai. My name is Attorney Longwei and I am here on be…"
"On behalf of Beatrice Zhang. I know, my maid just repeated that," Fang Mei interjected calmly.
"Please tell me what are you here for? Why does she need my help? What wrong has she committed now?"
"Nothing much but things have become tense in court. At this point, both she and Wu Bai would lose to your stepdaughter."
Fang Mei snapped her eyes at her when she made mention of Andromeda indirectly.
Sensing the tension, Attorney Longwei lowered her head respectfully and apologized for what she said even though she had told the truth.
"I think I better rephrase," she beamed with a smile. "At this point, whether you like it or not, your husband's first daughter, Andromeda Kai would win this battle."
Although she could have very much said or called out Andromeda's name without emphasis on what she said, she chose the former to completely spite Fang Mei and remind her of the chance she was throwing away.
Attorney Longwei had dealt with different cases so far when it came to family issues like this.
It was no new thing for such to occur considering the greed of humans.
And for her, so long as she sees your case as something she can handle and you pay the right money, she was going to do what she could for it.
Clearing her throat, Fang Mei dismissed the maid that remained there in the living room just in case she needed anything.
"I am sure she would not be staying long, but just in case, you can get us a glass of fruit wine, Qian-Qian."
"Oh no. Thanks. I am alright, Mrs. Kai. I just came to reason out with you and ask for your help for my client."
"Sure. Qian-Qian, you are dismissed."
"Yes, ma."
They waited for the maid to leave before Fang Mei gestured for her to take her seat and she did.
"Okay, can we run through this once more? What exactly happened out there?"
Clearing her throat, Attorney Longwei carefully explained everything that happened and how Beatrice was cornered in her ploy to bring Andromeda down.
To make matters worse, should Wu Bai diss all of her claims and destroy all pieces of evidence, she was afraid her client would serve a longer term in prison.
In the end, she would be seen as a useless lawyer who lost her case.
Now more than bothering with Beatrice's stupid tongue, Longwei was willing to do what she could to save face.
After all her sweet talks and how she started the trial, she could not see herself being the laughing stock now.
"Now, what do you suggest we do?"
Fang Mei took some time to carefully access the situation and all points mentioned to her.
"Okay. From what you have told me if we remove Andromeda's hope of making them go against each other, then we can fight a unified battle."
"My thought exactly. Ms. Zhang should know better than to annoy Mr. Wu. He is a vicious person. But then I understand her. There was every link to say that he would not have denied her first when he saw she was cornered."
"He is selfish."
"Aren't we all?"
Fang Mei's smirked at her. It was a trait that ran in virtually everybody in the world.
Saying it about one person sometimes was pure hypocrisy especially when the one saying it was found wanting, like Attorney Longwei who had her best interest at heart and not her client.
"Still, some have it worse, if you know what I mean," Attorney Longwei pushed her point, mirroring the kind of smile on Fang Mei's face.
"Yes, and I must commend you for your work so far. I think you did a good job pushing Andromeda to the edge. Now all I need is for you to maintain that tempo and convince Mr. Wu."
"Alright. I can arrange that. I need to make him know we are on his side and our biggest enemy is ad would always be Andromeda."
"Good. I would handle the rest. You just need to be prepared. Ask Ms. Zhang if she knows of anything Andromeda can use against her. The same goes for Mr. Wu. We need to be prepared and have an eagle's eye in the law court."
"Surely."
