CHAPTER 345 – In Her Favour 2
"Liar," Wu Bai blurted out from his seat.
All these while he had maintained his composure but having someone like her openly say those words, he could not stand it.
"Liar?" Sarah asked. Her bewitching smile only grew wide by the second. "You and I know those words cannot be attributed to me under any circumstance."
"Mr Wu, if you do not mind, let the witness speak and do not disrupt her testimony," Lawyer Chang reminded him.
After this, he settled back in his seat, clenching his jaws so hard, Andromeda was sure it would hurt.
"Please continue. You said his ways were dubious. Please do you have any proof to back your claims, Ms. Lee?"
"I do have proof and I came with them."
"Can the court have a look?" He proceeded to ask, professionally.
"Yes." She bought out a copy of the contract documents and handed them to Lawyer Chang who in turn scanned through them before handing them over to the clerk, judge and jury.
"Ms. Lee, please can you explain what this contract document is and the problem you have with it? From what I see it is the contracted document to sign you as a fashion designer at Divine Apparel."
"Yes. Actually, myself and Mr Wu had begun dating when he offered me a job in his company," she began and told her tale to the hearing of others.
Everyone listened with rapt attention as this last witness proved many things.
"Due to the urgency, he placed in signing the document, I found it suspicious and tried to avert his attention that day. Got a copy of the document, read through and never signed it."
"But you worked for the company still?" Lawyer Chang inquired.
"I did. However, I noticed that my designs were not owned by me. All credit of the work was geared towards Ms. Zhang. In truth, we were asked to submit designs and once we did that, we never heard of them. Even when being presented, she took all credit for them."
"That is theft," Lawyer Chang pointed out.
"Yes. So, I stood my ground and requested that I be given due credit for my work but Mr. Wu rejected it. Stating I had signed the contract that I had no right over my designs."
"Let me guess, he tried to silence you?"
"He did and he did so pretty well. I was threatened to my face that should the word of this get out, my life could not be guaranteed."
Lawyer Chang shot a quizzical look at Wu Bai and scoffed. "Interesting. Tell me, Ms. Lee, did he carry out this threat? As we know he may have been scaring you."
"He did."
"Lies."
"I have pictures of my house being raided. I was also kidnapped and beaten up."
"Objection my lord," Attorney Longwei interjected.
At this point, she knew there was still hope since it happened a couple of years ago.
"Sustained," the judge stated.
Her eyes gleamed at his words and she rose to her feet. "This is an incident that happened a couple of years ago. How sure are we that any of what she said was done by Mr. Wu?"
"All I say is true. Also, do you think I would make silly accusations without shreds of evidence?" Sarah asked.
With her lips pulled to the side she lowered her gaze and got out a set of pictures in a brown envelope and handed them over to Lawyer Chang.
"Those are pictures of everything that happened."
Taking them, once more he redistributed the items to the necessary parties to have a look at the pictures.
Each showed the disarray she met her home, and another showed the bruises on her body, after the supposed kidnapping and beating.
And in another, the doctor's report of visiting the hospital, date, time and year.
Having checked the pictures and report, Attorney Longwei lifted her head and handed it over to Lawyer Chang.
"Your Honour, if I may."
"Go on."
"Thank you." Looking at Sarah, Attorney Longwei nodded her head. "For all we know, you could have arranged all of these yourself. Nothing here proves or ties Mr Wu to your allegations."
"I am glad you said so. Then I hope this tape can help jog your memory."
She bought out another smaller envelope and handed it to Lawyer Chang once more.
"Before going to meet him, I had a recorder in my trousers that day. I knew he would not readily agree to my request, so I went prepared."
Down from Andromeda to every person in the court, they saw a different side to Wu Bai from her testimony and from the looks of things, she was not yet done with her testimony.
Each time she opened her mouth to speak or her bag, a new piece of evidence was shown.
"Not only that but on the day I got hijacked and beaten, I got a warning from my hijackers. Should I file a lawsuit against Divine Apparel, this would be my last beating. Cruel actions shall be taken. Please, play it. This wasn't staged either. But you can have the same man speak."
"We have voice actors," Attorney Longwei reasoned.
"Which is why when I went the first time to his office, I took a mini camera. You see, Attorney, I may not look it, but in everything I do, I love having my personal witness."
Her smile showed all of her hidden daggers as her eyes shone in delight at her mischief.
"The biggest mistake he made was trying to use me. Having suffered much in life, I learnt that the court and police respected this more and I refer it to human testimony that can be bribed."
"Thank you for saying that. Meaning you were bribed too?"
Sarah smiled and shook her head. "I wasn't."
"Then with all this evidence you had, why didn't you report to the police and make a case against him? I am sure you would have been protected," Attorney Longwei reasoned.
"Objection, your honour," Lawyer Chang protested.
"Overruled."
