"Young master?" Nanny Liu knocked on Yang Zheyan's door three times, but she didn't hear anyone asking her to enter. So took it upon herself to open the door to his bedroom.
Yang Zheyan was concentrating on his sketch, so he didn't even hear Nanny Liu entering. Just as it appears that he almost finished sketching it out. He would tear it apart and crumbled it into a ball. Throwing it behind him, and ferociously moved his pencil against his sketch pad again.
Nanny Liu watched as Yang Zheyan continued this step process. It appears like he was trying to draw someone, but right when he is about to roughly draw out her facial feature. He will scribble across the drawing and tore out the piece of paper.
She hates to break Yang Zheyan focus, but she had to inform him of his phone going off the whole day. It may not be driving him crazy because he isolated himself to a different room. But it was driving her crazy having to hear it ring and ding every other few minutes!
"Ahem, young master?" Nanny Liu softly called out, trying not to startle him. He didn't answer... More like he didn't even hear her! She cleared her throat loudly this time, "Young master!"
Yang Zheyan flipped his head around with anger displayed in his eyes. He hates it the most when someone distracts him in the middle of his work. Those hired to work in his house were warned of this strict rule of his. He was a lenient employer, but this was the only rule that was stressed out to not step on.
However, Nanny Liu was one of the few that wasn't afraid of her young master's temper. She served the Yang family since she was a teenager, and also watched Yang Zheyan grow up.
"What is it?" Yang Zheyan responded, unable to be angry with Nanny Liu. If it was anyone else, he would have made them run packing up their things.
"Young master Lu has been calling you nonstop since this morning." Nanny Liu held out her hand with his phone. "He also came by many many times today demanding to be let in."
The pencil in Yang Zheyan's hand broke into two pieces. He picked up a new one, and replied, "Do not let him in. Let everyone know, without my order, no one is to let him back in."
"I will the others know."
Yang Zheyan turned his attention back to the blank piece of paper. He grumbled, "It's about time that brat goes back home."
Nanny Liu didn't say anything anymore and put down his phone on the nightstand. She didn't pay much mind to it because it was the usual bickering between them. Their fight does not last that long, only a few days. It seems like young master Lu did something this time to really annoy her young master.
Ding!
Nanny Liu was about to step out until she heard another notification coming through. She sighed. Young master Lu, I will help you out on this one.
"Young master, I ask that you double-check your phone in case there is an emergency at the main house." Nanny Liu advised.
Although she knew her young master will see right through her lies. If there was indeed an emergency, and they can't get a hold of him. They would have called the main house phone to get a hold of her. She is the head to take care of the ins and out of Yang Zheyan's house.
Nanny Liu had a soft spot for Lu Weisheng after seeing him growing up too. Lu Weisheng was like Yang Zheyan's naughty younger brother. He was also the only person she has seen that could bring out the child in Yang Zheyan.
Growing up, Yang Zheyan didn't act like other children. He was a quiet child. Even to his parents, he barely spoke more than three words. He didn't ask for anything like other children and didn't want anything either. There were days he would stare out the window for a very long time. As if he wanted to leave them to go find someone or something.
Nanny Liu thought it was crazy she saw this in a child. Then, the oddest thing is the way Yang Zheyan treated his mother. He appeared as if he detested his mother the most in the world. Everyone thought it was the fact that whenever he touches a female. Weird rashes will break out on his body, but he acted indifferent to the female workers. Only to his mother does he show that expression to.
"Honey, w-why does my own son hate me?" Song Liqin cried quietly. "I showered him with so much affection."
"Don't be ridiculous. Our son is so little, he does not hate you." Yang Chen comforted his crying wife. He said those words, but he didn't fully believe in them. It was strange how their son acted towards his own mother. Even if it's because of his condition, still, he shouldn't be like this.
Song Liqin cried quietly to not let hear anyone hear her, especially her son. Yang Zheyan was her first child, so he meant the world to her.
Nanny Liu happened to walk in on Yang Zheyan, standing by the doorway to his parents' bedroom. She was about to call out to him, but the way he stared at her made her not to. He had a sad expression on and walked away.
Then one day, her young master started mumbling to himself. He sat at his usual window that faced the maidenhair tree. His sitting posture was like an a.d.u.l.t, except his feet did not reach the floor.
"You are the only one for me, I promised." He stared at the maidenhair tree, then whispered. "I miss you. Where are you?"
"Did you say something, young master?" Nanny Liu asked. She thought she finally heard her young master spoke more than three words. The next words from him brought a weird chill over her. Words spoke from a four-year-old child.
Yang Zheyan turned his head to face her, and in tears, he muttered. "She will never forgive me."
Nanny Liu dropped her duster and came running to Yang Zheyan. She was about to reach out to wipe his tears but remembered his conditions. Instead, she bent down to his level and asked, "Y-young master, what are you say? Who won't forgive you?"
"She won't ever forgive me," Yang Zheyan repeated, he stared back out at the tree. "She was so beautiful. Even with her face was covered, her beauty couldn't be hidden. The way she laughed drinking stolen wine."
"Young master? I'm confused, what are you trying to say?" Nanny Liu tried to follow what Yang Zheyan was saying but still didn't get it. "Are you talking about your mother?"
She assumed that was the case because she caught Yang Zheyan listening in on Song Liqin crying. In a gentle tone, she said, "Oh, young master. Your mother will not be mad at you and forgive you!"
"I am afraid..."
"Afraid of what?" Nanny Liu asked, what is a child afraid of? Is he scared because of his conditions that his parents don't love him?
Yang Zheyan shed another tear, "I'm afraid that I will forget about her."
Nanny Liu wasn't sure what to say because deep down, she knew he wasn't talking his mother. However, she never told Yang Zheyan's parents about this incident. Because the next day, he woke up like he was a different person.
Still, the quiet child, but he was more gentle towards his mother. He no longer had the look of hating her to her very bones. Although, she never once saw him cry after that and never seen any sort of emotions through him. He looked like a still robot but was human.
****
Yang Zheyan sighed, putting down his pencil and picked up his phone. He will do this to ease Nanny Liu's heart. When he unlocked his phone, he wasn't surprised to see so many missed calls and text from Lu Weisheng.
Lu Weisheng: [Please let me come back!]
Lu Weisheng: [Okay, fine! Is it an apology that you want? I am sorry!]
Yang Zheyan re-read Lu Weisheng's apology. Does he really think this is an apology with the attitude given?
Lu Weisheng: [Okay, okay... I am so sorry! Please let me come back!]
Lu Weisheng: [Answer me! I can feel my brother just waiting to drag me back!]
Lu Weisheng: [I will force myself in if I have to!]
Yang Zheyan scrolled through Lu Weisheng's spamming messages. They were nothing more than breaking into his house or begging him to take him back in. Then there was a text message from a phone number he became extremely familiar with.
Xiong Jingfei: [I will arrive on time at the appointed place and time that your parents set up. Please... Bring my drawing and tablet from your cousin too...]
The brooding dark that was on Yang Zheyan's face was replaced with a smile. The text he has been waiting for finally arrived from her. He wonders what her reaction was going to be. Is she going to run away again?
