Chapter 141 - The Lullaby (4)

Xiong Jingfei screamed and cried, trying to grab that lifeless hand lying on the bed. Even though she knew she couldn't hold it no matter how much she tried. Her hands kept going through her mother's hands and body. She couldn't touch anyone there! 

The more she tried, the more translucent her hands became until she could see through them. 

No, not yet! Xiong Jingfei tried to say, but there wasn't any sound coming out of her mouth. She wasn't ready to go back! 

Suddenly, someone grabbed hold of her right arm and pulled at her. 

Xiong Jingfei hoped it was her mother, but it was actually that crazy elderly grandma that brought her there. The crazy grandma no longer had on that silly smile but stared at her sternly. What she did to Xiong Jingfei just now was bringing her consciousness back to the present. 

The sound of the waterfall returned, and it only made Xiong Jingfei realize more that she returned. She shook her head at the grandma with tears still dropping. She was almost jumping up and down, holding onto the elderly grandma's hand. 

'Please let me go back! Please!'

Xiong Jingfei wasn't sure if the elderly grandma understood what she was trying to say, but her action should be more than enough. Showing how desperate she wanted to return to that time again, where her mother was still alive. 

The elderly grandma sighed and shook her head. What she did was not something she could continuously do for Xiong Jingfei. She knew if she did it once, Xiong Jingfei would beg for it again and again. This was a one-time thing only… 

The energy inside of Xiong Jingfei felt like it deflated instantly out of her. She fell to the ground but wouldn't let go of the crazy grandma's hands. 

Why am I suddenly feeling so tired? The hands gripping onto the crazy grandma were doing their best to hold on, but she can feel them sliding away. Was everything I saw real? Of course, it was real! That woman on the bed was really her mother! It really was her mother… 

"You're feeling exhausted after traveling through time," The crazy grandma crouched down on the ground to be on the same level as Xiong Jingfei. She gently patted Xiong Jingfei's head, "You have been through a lot." 

Xiong Jingfei looked up at the crazy grandma, what does she know? Right now, this crazy dancing and singing grandma was no longer acting insane. Instead, she looked completely sane to her.

"When the time comes, you will get all your answers. Those who owe you will pay back the deed they have done. Those who have hurt you will receive the pain back ten folds, and those you owe will be paid back." The elderly grandma smiled and continued to pat Xiong Jingfei's head like she was a crying child. 

Which was true. Xiong Jingfei was like a crying child looking for her mother. 

She didn't understand what the crazy grandma was talking about. It would be better if the crazy grandma spoke bluntly about what she meant. 

"I can't tell you more than this yet. When the time comes, you will be back on your own when you're ready to find out the truth." The crazy grandma said before removing her hand from Xiong Jingfei's head. 

It was not the time yet? Xiong Jingfei was ready to know now! She was about to ask for more information but was interrupted by Xu Suying. 

"Feifei, I finally found you!" Xu Suying rushed to her side and was shocked to find Xiong Jingfei crying. She was also clinging onto a stranger! "Are you hurt?" 

Xu Suying checked Xiong Jingfei's face and arms to make sure there weren't any injuries. 

Xiong Jingfei kept shaking her head but was unwilling to let go of the crazy grandma's hands. This crazy grandma was the only person who could answer her questions! She just knows it! 

"Ahhh, I'm so sorry!" A male voice shouted, coming from the same direction Xu Suying popped out from. It was the owner of the shrine's son. "I apologize if my grandma caused you to be frightened! My grandma… She is not one hundred percent in the head, but she doesn't mean any harm." 

"You're the one who's crazy!" The crazy grandma shouted at her grandson and raised a fist in the air. "Aiya, this young lady here is the crazy one! She won't let go of me!"

"Feifei, you should let go of her…" Xu Suying tried ripping Xiong Jingfei's claw off the crazy grandma, but just when she finally did it. Xiong Jingfei wrapped her arms around the crazy grandma's right leg. 

Xiong Jingfei doesn't care that she is labeled crazy, what is new? She was already labeled a mute! She doesn't care whether this grandma was crazy or not too. All in all, she was the person that was about to go crazy! 

"Aiya! Someone help this old lady! This young lady is crazy!" The crazy grandma screamed, trying to hold up her pants from being pulled down by Xiong Jingfei. 

It wasn't like Xiong Jingfei was intentionally pulling it down, but because the crazy grandma was trying to run away from her questions. It looked like she was pulling the crazy grandma's pants down while holding onto her right leg. 

"Honey, please let go of this poor grandma's right leg." 

It was Xu Suying's mom who tried to persuade Xiong Jingfei to let go. Because it was Xu Suying's mom, Xiong Jingfei finally let her iron arms unlatched from the leg. 

"Aiya, my leg is free~! Free!" The crazy grandma began dancing around Xiong Jingfei and Xu Suying's mom. "I'm free! Hahaha!"

"I-I apologize for my grandma's behavior." The grandson bowed apologetically. "Why don't we head back?" 

Xu Suying's mom doesn't know why Xiong Jingfei was acting like this, but something must have happened for her to act out of character. The Xiong Jingfei she watched growing up was always quiet and acted like a lady in all situations. It was her first time seeing Xiong Jingfei clutching onto someone's leg like this. 

Xiong Jingfei was pulled up from the ground by Xu Suying's mom, and taken back to the shrine area. She couldn't stop herself from turning back to look at the crazy grandma still standing at the waterfall. Was it really that hard to show her mother one more time? 

Her feet walked with Xu Suying and her mom, but Xiong Jingfei's heart stayed at that spot with the crazy grandma. 

When they were all gone, the crazy grandma stopped her dancing and singing of being free. She put her arms behind her back and in a joking but serious tone, "Are you happy to see her like that?" 

"Of course not." 

Someone answered the crazy grandma and walked out from behind the waterfall. Behind the waterfall, there was a deep hold hidden by the running water. If you didn't look close enough, you wouldn't notice there was such a thing behind it. 

"Hehe, thank you for covering for me." The person chuckled, hopping down from the rocks and stood next to the grandma they all deemed crazy. Xiong Jingfei was seconded to discovering him hiding back there. 

"Hmph!" The crazy grandma turned her head away like a pouting child. "I didn't do it for you!"

"Okay, I get it~." Wu Yuan massaged the crazy grandma's tensed shoulders. "I bought your favorite pastries for you today. You worked super hard~!"

"The one from my favorite shop?" The crazy grandma asked, with one eye closed and the other one open. 

Wu Yuan smiled, "The one and only shop you love." 

"Hmph! Good!" The crazy grandma stuck her nose up high in the sky. She really wasn't angry at handsome Wu Yuan, and his massage was really on point. He knew which area on her shoulder was most tense and sore. 

"Of course, my massage is the best! Do you think I would get that title by not knowing anything?" Wu Yuan smiled, but his eyes weren't smiling like what he was showing. He muttered, "Yin Yingtai…"
