Chapter 87
After much difficulty, Shen Wu finally dealt with the aftermath of dissecting Ha Ma...no, dissecting Shen Yichen's frog, and was forced to listen to Shen Yichen's hour-long lecture on love before finally being allowed back into the house.
When they returned, they saw Shen Yue and Shen Jize gathered around the scalpel Shen Yichen had casually left behind, whispering about something.
As Shen Wu drew near, he easily overheard their conversation. Shen Yue was explaining to Shen Jize, "That's a dissection scalpel, not a surgical scalpel. The blade on a dissection scalpel is larger than a regular surgical scalpel because it needs to make longer, deeper cuts and remove portions of tissue structures. Anyone walking around outside with a scalpel like this is very dangerous and should absolutely be avoided."
Shen Yue remembered seeing someone with that sort of hobby in her memories of Prison Block 4. He would even spend a fortune to smuggle a dissection scalpel in from outside the prison, carrying it on him every day and treasuring it like nothing else.
Everyone was afraid he would suddenly attack them with the dissection scalpel, and complained to the guards over and over, but the only reply they got was, "If he dares to hurt someone with that scalpel, just kill him yourselves."
Later, that man was indeed killed, but whether he had used the dissection scalpel to hurt anyone remained hearsay.
Rumor was he had injured someone, so he died.
Shen Yue also recalled spending some time in the prison infirmary, but not for long, because the medical staff there said that although she could quickly memorize things, she didn't bother trying to understand them. A person like that was no different from a machine, and they were better off letting an AI help instead.
The AI could even work faster than her.
"Hey, give Jiu Yu Zi back to me," said Shen Wu in an unfriendly tone as he approached the two gathered around his scalpel, as if them even looking at his scalpel was a tremendous insult.
Shen Yue took a step back, fully demonstrating her lack of interest in the scalpel.
After taking back the scalpel, Shen Wu only glanced at it before continuing to stare at Shen Jize. "Shen Jize, come here."
Though Shen Yue didn't look back, she could well imagine Shen Jize's expression upon hearing those words.
Without hesitation, she tattled again, "Big brother, look at him."
Shen Yichen was still immersed in the grief of Ai Ha's inexplicable dissection. At her words, he glanced at Shen Wu and said, "Wu, behave yourself. Put your scalpel away first, it's dangerous to walk around with it."
Shen Wu pressed his lips together, but didn't talk back to Shen Yichen. He silently took the scalpel back to his room.
The cold, firm voice of the bratty child came through the phone, "Where are you?"
Shen Jize looked at Shen Yue, pressed his lips together, and awkwardly replied, "I'm with my sister."
Shen Yue had already started practicing on Shen Jize before he even finished speaking.
"Fourth brother, you're playing with fire. You've succeeded in catching my attention."
Though Shen Jize knew Shen Yue was just mimicking lines from the book, hearing her words still made his face flush slightly in embarrassment.
On the other end of the call, Shen Wu heard this nonsense and immediately hung up.
Still oblivious to what was about to happen, Shen Jize just asked Shen Yue, "Sis, were you quoting lines from F2 just now?"
Shen Yue nodded. "Yeah, what did you think of how it sounded?"
Shen Jize fidgeted with the hem of his clothes, honestly conveying his true feelings, "I feel it's a bit strange...like, too condescending."
Shen Yue had a knowing look. "I feel the same way. No wonder the female lead gets angry."
Shen Jize nodded. "Right, the female lead being angry makes sense."
Shen Yue's tone shifted as she then asked, "Fourth brother, when Shen Wu speaks to you so condescendingly, why don't you get angry?"
Shen Jize blanked briefly, not expecting Shen Yue to have circled around just to ask him this.
But once he understood, it warmed his heart. He laughed softly, fidgeting awkwardly with his hair as he explained, "Although Wu is fierce, he really cares about me... Even if his concern sometimes scares me, he...he worries about me."
As it turned out, Shen Jize was right.
Because just as he finished speaking, heavy knocking sounded on Shen Yue's door, accompanied by Shen Wu's cold voice outside, "Shen Jize, open the door."
