An ability that resigned themselves to their fates.
[Possession]
Due to the capabilities of the human body, the effects would only last for thirty seconds.
But those ten seconds were the deciding factor.
It was, after all, Ezekiel himself who could materialize, as soon as his subjects willingly utter the phrases.
Though it wasn't possible for all.
Just the ones who Ezekiel gave blessings to himself.
And Lancelott was one such person himself after meeting Ezekiel, just before he was sent for this mission.
Ezekiel looked ahead.
There was not much to do.
Just the fact that he had freedom for a few seconds was enough for him.
However, he sensed it.
The Sovereign.
He was here.
And he was standing right in front of him.
He didn't have much time left.
And clearly, it wasn't enough time to kill this Sovereign.
Standing in front of him gave him chills all over, even as a Wraith himself.
However, seething rage boiled inside him as well.
These Sovereigns....
It was them that had exiled the Wraiths, or rather, Sovereigns themselves.
And seeing the fearless look in this Sovereign's expressions....
It had made Ezekiel curious.
Just what made these Sovereign's fearful?
And....
.....Who is this Sovereign?
Ezekiel at least had to know that before this body perished.
And so, he reached out for the Sovereign as fog began to gradually fill the room.
However, it proved to be a difficult task as chains shot from the ground, blocking his path from the Sovereign.
Crack!
Immediately, the chains shattered before it could even reach Ezekiel.
"You really are a weak one, aren't you?"
Ezekiel scoffed.
Everyone in the chamber was weak. They posed no threat to him, and in fact, he could barely sense their presence.
They were just that weak.
The celestial mage wasn't bad, but she clearly lacked something.
And for that reason, she was able to save herself.
Her affinity would go to waste if Ezekiel killed her now.
He wanted her abilities.
For that reason, he allowed her to live.
Just a few light injuries here and there.
To his standards anyway.
All of a sudden, the Sovereign's figure blurred. Ezekiel's head flicked to the side, noticing the
But he stood still. Despite the fact that he could sense it, the body's muscles weren't fast enough to react.
Bang!
Feeling the Sovereign's fist struck his side, Ezekiel skidded to the side slightly.
It felt like he was pushed.
That was it.
Just a light push.
He reached out for the woman.
Swoosh—!
Once again, his figure blurred, appearing right beside the woman.
This time she was caught off guard, confused as to why she was targeted.
"Ah."
The woman's eyes widened as she took a step back.
And it was then,
Another figure blurred, appearing right behind the woman. His two ink–black eyes glared at him as if he was the most repulsive being he had ever seen.
Time seemed to freeze at a standstill as he reached out for the blonde woman's neck.
"Amelia!"
A scream resounded.
His hand was close, and so was the Sovereign's sword as it glimmered. There, Ezekiel could see the sword start shimmering an amethyst glow.
"What is your darkest dreadful memory?"
Ezekiel's lips curled up to a wide grin.
Spurt!
The trajectory of his hand shifted abruptly. Blood dripped as his hand cleaved right through the sword.
Not only that, but what seemed to be light magic struck his body.
All sorts of magic rushed towards him as the entire chamber was filled with a myriad circles.
A joint attack between everyone present in the room.
It was admirable.
And it was too late.
28 seconds.
Those were the only seconds he had left before his body perished.
But it was a success.
"Let me see right through you, Sovereign."
"Brandon!"
Another scream resounded.
The blonde woman tried to push the Sovereign aside.
Ezekiel's palms touched the Sovereign's face slightly.
And that was all he needed to do.
The Sovereign may have tempered his body with mana. However, he was vulnerable to mental attacks.
As soon as his palms touched the Sovereign's face....
He saw it all.
In a matter of seconds as if it were a fever dream.
One second was all it took.
And Ezekiel froze.
"Kh...!"
He groaned slightly.
"Wha—"
Truly, he saw it all.
The Sovereign's darkest dreadful memories.
A memory that had been locked away deep inside.
The Sovereign's death.
The 1st death.
The most important one.
A world with no magic.
The Sovereign looked different.
Jet–black hair and ocean–blue eyes.
His name was Raven Blackheart.
