Chapter 38: Train Travel
I arrived at the train station and bought a ticket to Ebony, it would be a four days ride so I took a VIP room incase the normal ones weren't comfortable, I was tired but I couldn't afford to rest as I needed to save Mina as soon as possible, plus if I stayed in this city after killing such an important person, some other people would probably come to find me.
When the train arrived, I entered it and got the keys to my small chamber, it only had a desk and a bed but I guess this is enough for a train ride...
I looked outside the window and saw the landscape pass by, it was extremely dark as we were in the middle of the night, but I appreciated what I could see.
I was thinking about what had happened earlier, I killed three people, and I didn't feel bad about it, I felt... normal.
I mean, I have the hatred system, so I shouldn't be surprised, but I still wonder if I will ever feel remorse for my actions, well I guess they were the ones who came to me so probably not.
"Oh well, it doesn't matter" I shrugged and laid down on the bed, I was exhausted and needed to rest.
I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I woke up the next morning and stretched, I felt refreshed and ready to continue my journey.
I left the room and went to the dining car to eat breakfast, I ordered a simple sandwich and ate it while looking at the scenery.
"This is nice..." I thought, "I wish I could travel like this with Mina and Sarah."
I was thinking about the future, I wanted to live a peaceful life with the girls, but I knew that it would be difficult, especially since I am inside a novel where each arc that passed would put the world at greater risk.
"I'll make it happen" I reassured myself, "no matter what happens."
I finished eating and went back to my room then I proceeded to spent the rest of the day reviewing the plan and playing games on my phone.
And this is how the first three days of the train ride went, there were a lot of passengers aboard but I didn't talk to anybody, I just focused on my own stuff.
But on the fourth day and final day, something unexpected happened.
"Attention all passengers, we are currently experiencing some technical difficulties, please remain calm and wait for further instructions."
I heard the announcement and looked outside, I could see that the train was slowing down.
"What's going on?" I wondered.
I got up from my seat and exited the room, I walked towards the front of the train and saw that there were a lot of people gathered there, they were all talking to each other and wondering what was happening.
And all of a sudden, we heard sirens.
Weee wooooo...
Then magic powered vehicules started surrounding the train, each of them had the "SMPF" anagram on the side of their cars.
I instantly knew who and what they were.
The Special Magic Police Force, or SMPF for short, is a special unit created by the government to deal with magical threats, they are extremely powerful and have access to many different types of weapons and spells, they mainly intervene in case of big threats such a high-class monsters and dangerous magic items/relics.
"What's going on?" I asked a random person.
"I don't know, but it seems like they are trying to stop the train" he answered.
"Why?"
"I think it has something to do with the technical difficulties we experienced earlier"
"I see..."
I had no idea what was happening but it doesn't matter if it has nothing to do with me.
But that's when I heard an announcement come from the outside.
"Our detector has found traces of an illegal middle-ranked relic inside of this train, we are here to take it in case anything bad happens"
"A relic?!" I exclaimed, "oh shit..."
I remembered the violet beam gun I stole from the black market guy I scammed, this must definitely be it...
I looked around and saw that everybody was confused, nobody knew what was happening.
"We will now begin our search, please cooperate with us and everything will be fine"
Suddenly, the doors of the train opened and the SMPF agents started entering it, they were all wearing black armor and had magic infused guns in their hands.
"Please remain calm and let us do our job" one of them said.
They began searching the train and checking every passenger, I was standing in the crowd and watching them work, I didn't want to get involved as I knew that I would probably be arrested if they found the gun.
After a bit of reflection I decided to walk away from them and go back to my room to grab the relic and my student ID from my backpack, then I put it inside of my pocket and came back to the wagon where everybody was.
The train had security cameras as well, so they would know I went back to hide it if I tried anything.
Which means my best bet was to just show it to them, of course I don't plan to give it but I can earn their trust.
"Hey, police force" I spoke while lifting my arm up, thus attracting the attention of the entire SMPF and the passengers, "is this perhaps what you're looking for?"
I took the relic from my pocket inside of my hand and showed it off.
Instantly people started screaming.
"OH MY GOD HE HAS IT!"
"HE'S GONNA KILL US!!"
A futile reaction, if I wanted to end it all I would of already done it.
"Let me pass" I suddenly heard a feminine voice from behind the officers as they immediately cleared the way upon her order, "show it to me kid"
I instantly recognized who she was: Lilith, the captain of the SMPF and an extremely smart and powerful woman, she had short blonde hair that reached her shoulders and an extremely generous body that her uniform didn't hide in the slightest.
She took the relic in her hands and examined it, "yep, this is definitely it, who are you?" she didn't have that much of a reaction.
"I'm a student of the Freesia academy and this isn't an illegal relic but a gift I bought for my friend!" I showed my ID and gave her a lie that could be believable. n-)0velb1n
"Hmmm..." she looked at me suspiciously, as if she was testing me, "and why did you try to hide it from us?"
"Because I knew that you would take it away from me, and I don't want to lose it"
"I see..." she nodded, "well then, I guess we can let you go, and you can also keep the relic, but be careful" she looked at me with a blank expression.
"Thank you" I smiled.
"Now then, everybody, please resume your activities" she ordered and the SMPF agents left the train.
Oh, I forgot to say, Lilith is a big troublemaker that loves to create issues, I said beforehand that she was smart, so I could already see in her expression that she didn't believe a single word I said.
But I think she believes I won't be too reckless as I am a Freesia Academy student.
I guess it's a win as I keep a relic that would be helpful in the future, plus I don't get to be a criminal yet.
Lilith would become an important character in the future arcs, so I don't wanna be on her bad side either.
And with this final unexpected event, I finally reached Ebony, meaning I was closer than ever to get Mina back, all I needed to do was go to the center of the city now.
