Chapter 82 Fire

"Looks like while I was resting we already won, didn't we?" Rea said calmly with a smirk looking at Turgan as well as the three dead Orc-Mages.

"I don't want to celebrate victory ahead of time, but I agree. Maybe this Orc still has some trump card left, but against the five of us, he doesn't stand a chance." Elin said confidently, drawing an arrow on the bowstring.

"I see... Looks like the mission was easier than we thought. Only Geir is wounded out of all of us, but somehow I think that's only a plus for him..." Rea muttered as a slight smile appeared on her face.

"Have you recovered yet? Maybe you need to drink some more potions?" Elin asked, not taking her eyes off Turgan.

Rea shook her head, "No, that's impossible. I've already drank three mana potions, my body can't take any more since then I'll just poison myself. However, that's not necessary, I'm not sure my help is even needed now."

Rea didn't join Zayne and Geir in confronting Turgan, she stayed close to Elin and glanced from time to time at the passage.

'Roland... Looks like there was something valuable in your Treasure Box, doesn't it?' Rea muttered inwardly, looking at the blue amulet with the eye pattern in Roland's hands.

pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ "Agh... Agh... Agh..." Turgan breathed heavily, trying to think of a plan of action. His left leg was seriously wounded, and now he had two opponents against him, walking before he could not defeat even one.

"Looks like our enemy is panicking. Well, let's take advantage of it." Zayne stepped forward as he swung his sword, leaving a thin cut on his palm, then the blade flashed a red light, which gradually changed to a blue glow.

'My first skill...' Zayne inwardly muttered, looking at his sword, which had become much stronger under the action of his blood and moonlight, 'Blood and moon... Is this my power?'

Zayne took a deep breath, shook his head, and rushed forward. Geir immediately followed him, but Geir couldn't move that fast.

Crackle.

Turgan slammed his fist into the stone pillar with all his might, causing it to tilt, and grabbed it tightly with both hands.

"ROKA!!!" Turgan exclaimed furiously, throwing the one-toned pillar straight at Zayne.

Zayne's pupils narrowed as he jumped aside, at the same moment, the pillar rumbled down to where he had just been.

"You know, I've fought a bigger opponent before, and you have something similar. Your legs are too vulnerable." Zayne said coldly as scarlet wings appeared behind him.

Turgan flinched, getting ready to attack, however, as soon as he blinked, Zayne was out of his sight and behind him.

"Well, that's exactly what I was talking about." Zayne whispered, gripping the hilt of his sword tightly with both hands and taking a step forward, cutting through Turgan's flesh.

Step.

Zayne moved forward, slicing off Turgan's left leg and making the Orc Leader feel what real pain and primal fear are.

"ARGHHHH!!!" A shrill scream burst from Turgan's throat, he had never felt such a vivid and sharp pain that it was simply impossible to endure.

"Agh..." Zayne exhaled cold steam as he ran his palm over the blood-covered blade, "I felt the same way the first time... But, you're an experienced warrior, right? Although... I doubt I could take it."

Step. Step. Step.

Zayne walked slowly toward Turgan. He stopped in front of his head and raised his sword high, about to drop it right on Turgan's neck, like an executioner holding an axe.

"This is the end." Zayne collapsed his sword.

Turgan could not move, though Zayne was much smaller than him, the scarlet sword along with the pain, like chains bound Turgan in a prison of fear from which he could not escape, only await his fate.

Whoooooooooooosh.

Before Turgan's eyes flashed bits of flame from his burning shoulders as his gaze caught on the lava lake in the distance, which then seemed like a real oasis in the desert.

Crackle.

With all his might Turgan rushed forward, at the last moment bypassing the sword that should have ended his life.

"What..." Zayne's eyes went wide with a chill down his back.

"You won't get away!" Geir exclaimed crashing into Turgan and knocking him to the ground.

"ROFO!!!" Turgan exclaimed, rising from the ground, clutching the red dust with his fingers and running on, like a wild animal on three limbs.

Crackle.

A crystal arrow stabbed into Turgan's shoulder, but he wasn't even paying attention, his only goal was to reach the shore.

"Shit! This is bad!" Roland exclaimed as his sword covered the wind, and it turned into a flash that instantly reached Turgan.

Turgan swung his cleaver chaotically, causing Roland to change his course and slow slightly, but it was enough for Turgan to feel the heat from the lava.

Bulp. Bulp. Bulp.

Turgan no doubt sank into the lava lake that should have burned him alive, right down to his bones, and that's exactly what happened.

"AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!" Turgan exclaimed in horrible pain as the lava fried his flesh and the unpleasant smell of charred smoke spread around.

"What an idiot..." Rea shook her head, "I don't know what he was counting on, maybe he sensed there was a lot of energy in that lake, but he just didn't have a way to absorb it."

"Well... After all, he's an Orc, they're not the smartest creatures. Though I have to admit... those eerie screams are terrifying... I even feel sorry for him. Even an enemy doesn't deserve the torment he's going through right now." Elin shuddered as she got goosebumps.

Rea took a deep breath, "I agree. Some say the worst pain one can experience is being burned alive at the bonfire, but something tells me the lava is more powerful..."

Zayne, Roland, Geir, Elin, and Rea, watched the death of their enemy, whose bones were already visible. They felt different emotions, but there was definitely no joy or triumph of victory.

"Rafa... rafo... rafe..." Turgan mumbled something with difficulty as he reached his hand up and lifted his head. His gaze was practically empty, but he didn't give up hope that a miracle would happen and as if praying that something or someone would help him.

Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.

The lava engulfed him with a cracking sound as Turgan's eyes opened wide, not from pain, but from what he saw. Then, deep in his pupils, there was a red flame, but it was not fire, the color that only one entity could have - Chaos.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

At the same moment, the magic circle around the lake shone brightly, and all the energy that was in the lava after absorbing the tons of coal went to Turgan, who was at death.

In fact, he might have died a long time ago, but until his eyes lost their shine he was alive, and it didn't go unnoticed.

"Holy shit..." Geir muttered looking at the huge stream of lava that covered Turgan with a dense pillar of flame.

"Fuck! We screwed up!" Roland frowned as he stomped irritably on the ground.

No one could get close to Turgan, or they would be turned to ash themselves.

'What was that...' Zayne said inwardly with his eyes wide open, 'If his plan succeeded then why wasn't he smiling... Why, at the last moment, did hope change into fear and awe in his gaze?'
