"Well, well, all my stats went up 10 points... I don't know if that's a decent effect after purification or not, but I'm definitely satisfied." Zayne smirked, "Considering how I was before the fight with Enar, I'm almost three times stronger now... Hah, that's just incredible!"
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.
There was a cracking sound as if someone was running forward, demolishing everything in its path. Zayne turned around and saw several men in the woods hunting a wild boar. They wore simple leather armor, the kind you get when newcomers choose a card.
'Hmm...? Why are they here? Did they really head to Red Feather City right after they appeared in one of the villages?' Zayne muttered inwardly in confusion.
"Let's go! Catch him!" The girl with the sword in her hand exclaimed.
'I'm trying! He's too fast! I can't catch him!" The young man shouted with a confused look, swinging his sword, trying to reach the boar who was a meter in front of him.
Whooooooooooooosh.
Suddenly a tall silhouette emerged from behind a tree that made the young man flinch and fall to the ground in surprise.
"What...?" The young man muttered in embarrassment.
"Hey! What the hell are you doing!" The girl shouted irritably as she looked at the silhouette, "Can't you see we're busy! We sure as hell can't catch this boar now!" With anger, she stomped her foot.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." Silhouette said with a slight smile on his face.
"You think that will be enough! It looks easy to catch a huge boar to you?!" The girl frowned, then her eyes went wide just like her mate's.
"Wait... You're Zayne Fellen... Aren't you?" The young man muttered in disbelief.
Zayne nodded, "Yeah, that's me." He felt strange that random people knew who he was, but gradually he was beginning to get used to it.
The young man and the girl looked at each other, and wide smiles appeared on their faces.
"Damn! Can I take a picture with you?! I have the Memory Stone!" The young man exclaimed as his eyes shone brightly.
"What..."
"I want one too!" The girl ran up to Zayne.
Zayne found himself squeezed on both sides but quickly stepped aside, "Wait, that's not why I came here. For start, tell me, what was the reward you were offered for catching the boar?"
The girl thought for a moment, then answered, "Five gold coins." She puffed her cheeks and glanced at the young man, "To each!"
Zayne nodded slightly as his ring shone brightly, and he tossed her a pouch of coins.
"Here are twenty Gold Coins, consider it compensation and no pictures. Now to the point, I want to know why you went straight to this town. Did someone tell you that?" Zayne asked as he shook his hand slightly.
The boy's eyes glowed brightly at the sight of the Gold Coins, but the girl paid no attention at all. She stared at Zayne until she said, "What do you mean? If you are talking about the guides, we didn't read them, and just chose this place as our starting point. What's the big deal?"
The girl's words rang through Zayne's mind several times before he finally realized what she had said.
"Nothing, I'm sorry for interrupting you." Zayne inhaled.
"Wait!" The girl shouted, trying to stop him, but Zayne's silhouette was already far away, quickly disappearing behind the trees.
"What was that... What was Zayne Fellen doing here...?" The girl's eyes were wide as she tried to understand what she just saw.
"Heh, does it matter? We got twice as much money without doing anything, and now I can tell my friends I met Zayne Fellen himself! Today is a great day!" The young man exclaimed cheerfully, holding the coins in his hands.
...
Tap.
Zayne threw on his old torn coat, hid his face with a hood, and wandered the city roads, completely immersed in his thoughts.
'So that means that this game is gradually evolving... The influence of players and large-scale events may change the starting points for newcomers, but also big cities are now a choice too... In the beginning, it was definitely impossible to appear immediately in Red Feather City...' Zayne internally muttered just pacing forward.
Gradually he reached the farthest part of the city, which was sadly well-known because crimes often took place here, and former bandits and other such people lived there. Red Feather City was huge, so it had its own dark parts, unsuitable for ordinary people.
Zayne didn't notice this, as the neighborhood he had lived in for most of his life was pretty much the same, the atmosphere no different.
"Damn... I guess I'm thinking... I should go back." Zayne muttered looking at the sun going off into the sunset, and turned around.
However, no sooner had Zayne walked a few steps than several massive silhouettes appeared in front of him.
"Hey, kid, judging by your ring you come from a rich family." The bald man smirked, pulling a dagger from his belt.
"Hehehe, I don't know what you're doing here, but if you wanted to go out for a walk in such a dangerous place, you should have been prepared for it." The man with the bushy beard grinned, stretching his neck with a crunch.
"No need to frighten our friend." The biggest of them said, clenching his fists as he placed his massive palm on Zayne's shoulder, "Just pay us, you can say you'll spend for district development and we'll let you go! Hahahahahaha!!!"
Zayne looked at them with a calm look, 'Bandits? I don't know if it's the game's fault or something, but it's pretty trivial, even for me...'
Zayne's eyes turned cold as ice as he was about to act while the bandits looked at each other with satisfied smirks.
Whoooooooooooooosh.
Suddenly a wind whistled and the gazes of the three bandits faded, then they fell to the ground simultaneously, unable to move.
Zayne's gaze was immediately caught by the tiny darts in their necks, from which the purple liquid slowly dripped.
"What...? Damn! We've got to get out of here!"
"I agree!"
"Shit! Looks like something serious is about to happen!"
The rest of the criminals and just people with vicious looks ran quickly through the streets with real fear on their faces. They were experienced enough to know what to do in such situations.
Step. Step. Step.
The sound of footsteps echoed around them. Some footsteps were measured, heavy, and powerful while others were short, light, and soft, as if unwilling to disturb the peace.
"Oh... What an unexpected encounter..." Zayne muttered, looking at the two silhouettes heading toward him.
"I couldn't agree more, it was entirely expected for us." Andre said calmly, fixing his black hair while his green eyes focused on Zayne.
"Zayne Fellen... How glad I am that we could meet in person." The girl with blond hair whispered, following Andre. She wore a white robe going into a dress and a long wooden staff which she held in front of her.
"You already know Andre, my name is Tina, nice to meet you." Tina bowed slightly with a sly smirk.
'Well, well, it seems I have something interesting waiting for me before the auction...' Zayne pondered, looking at the silhouette of the snake that seemed to hover behind Tina.
