The desire to protect someone has always been a powerful catalyst for action, especially when it is someone very important, a family member or friend. At such moments, one's strength increased because it was one's duty, and sometimes, it resulted in significant change, albeit temporarily.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
In the streets outside the hospital, many people continued to fight, but slowly among them, there were victors, some of whom had come for exactly what Alex was talking about.
A woman in a leather jacket and piercings, easily dealt with her opponent and made her way to the main entrance of the hospital. She used the water attribute, while her opponent had most of his skills focused on the fire attribute, so her victory was inevitable.
"Hey, who are you? You give off a pretty creepy aura, you know?" The woman smirked, looking at Zayne, who was sitting at the very top of the stairs. The darkness hid most of his body, leaving only his blue eyes clearly visible.
"Why did you come here?" Zayne asked in a calm voice, staring intently at the woman.
The woman's eyes narrowed, "Isn't it obvious? This hospital is a real treasure! I'm going to empty it, and I advise you to stay out of my way if you want to stay alive! Obviously, you play Fallen Fate too, however, you are definitely weaker than me!"
The woman exclaimed, pointing her hand at Zayne, as streams of water appeared around her arms, swirling rapidly like a vortex.
"Go away." Zayne muttered with a sigh, "Rob another hospital or do something else, I don't care. However, I won't let you through here. You'd better go, or you'll regret your decision."
She frowned, she didn't know why but she got goosebumps just from his words, which were more like a death sentence than a threat or a warning. Unfortunately for her, she couldn't just swallow such humiliation and walk away.
"Bastard! We could have settled this peacefully, but now you've forced me to! I'll make you crawl at my feet and beg for forgiveness! You're too cocky for a regular guy!" The woman exclaimed furiously before tearing forward.
The water around her hands quickly turned into blades that looked like Alex's skill, but they shook like saws. If they reached Zayne's skin, they would tear it apart like chainsaws.
Zayne did nothing, he just sat on his spot with his arms folded together as if she posed no threat to him at all. In fact, they were on completely different levels.
Whooooooooooosh.
The woman raised her hand to attack, a moment later plunging the blade right into Zayne's head, it was so fast that she already had a smile on her face.
However, the smile quickly disappeared from her face as her blade went through Zayne's head like he was a ghost, then her eyes went wide.
"What...?" The woman muttered, looking at her blade, which was very close to Zayne's head, but he ducked.
"Sense of Balance, that's a damn useful thing." Zayne said calmly, before leaning his body forward.
Crackling.
Zayne's hand, dropped to her face, squeezing it tightly, then he plunged her head into the ground with tremendous force and speed. The solid asphalt cracked as well as the woman's skull, flooding everything beneath with dark blood. The blades of water disintegrated into massive drops of water, smashing against the rocks.
The woman continued to breathe, but one attack was enough to knock her out, for a very long time.
"Holy shit..." The reporter, sitting among the bushes in the distance, muttered. Only a minute ago he'd managed to get to the hospital, and he'd immediately managed to film something unbelievable.
"Hey... Didn't he just kill her no...?" His assistant muttered in a trembling voice, looking around. He was afraid of every rustle, for unlike the Players, they were ordinary people and if someone wanted to beat them up, nothing would save them.
The reporter shook his head, "No, she has heavy breathing. I can see it clearly...Zayne Fellen...I wonder what you're going to do next?"
The deputy gulped, "You think he'll finish her off...? He'll be a murderer then, right?"
"Hah, I'm not sure if the old rules work now, but I don't think he came here for that... It feels like he's trying to protect the place." The reporter muttered, watching Zayne's every action carefully.
Crackling.
Zayne grabbed the woman's leg, took a few turns, and threw her away, as far away as he could go at all. He didn't seem to care at all how badly she was injured.
'Agh... Maybe it was harsh, but I have no reason to sympathize with her. She just killed a man and this probably isn't the end of her bloody journey.' Zayne muttered inwardly, looking up at the blue moon illuminating the city.
'Perhaps I should kill her to prevent it, right?' Zayne looked at the woman, then he shook his head, 'That's not my problem. My job is to protect Mia, everything else should be handled by the government.'
There was silence for a few minutes, or rather only for Zayne, as no one tried to pass through the main passage. The sounds of fighting were outside the walls of the hospital, and while it was happening in the streets, Zayne wasn't going to get involved.
"Damn! I've already captured some good footage, but it's not enough!" The reporter was annoyed, pounding his fist on the tree. He knew he wouldn't get another opportunity like this; he had to use everything to get the most out of this situation.
"Hey... I have an idea..." The aide muttered in an uncertain tone.
"Hmm?" The reporter raised an eyebrow.
The aide sighed, "I just thought that if the Players knew that Zayne Fellen was here, some of them would probably want to fight him. I mean... He's considered the strongest, isn't he?"
The reporter was silent for a while, he pondered his assistant's words, a sly smirk appearing on his face.
"Look!" The aide exclaimed, pointing to a group of three men who were headed toward Zayne.
They had the same goal as the woman before them and Zayne was the only obstacle in their path.
"Hehehe, boy, who the hell are you?" The man with short red hair smirked as he looked at the dark silhouette blocking their way into the hospital.
"Does it matter? You'd better leave and find another hospital." Zayne said the same thing as before.
The three men looked at each other as smirks appeared on their faces.
"Nah, we've already wasted too much time here. Just look at this!" Redhead exclaimed, showing off his bloody fist that still had dark droplets dripping from it, "I couldn't even imagine how much fun it is to fight in the real world! It's totally different from this stupid game!"
Zayne glanced at him with a cold stare, "Stupid game...? Isn't that where you got your powers from? What's more, apparently you used Chaos Coin since you can use skills, can't you?"
"Hahaha, exactly! At first, I didn't understand what the point of Fate or Chaos was, but, a little later I realized it was pretty simple!" Redhead said with delight in his voice, "Fate is good, Chaos is evil! You know, I've always loved playing on the villains' side, it's so much more fun."
"Agh... Idiot..." Zayne exhaled cold steam.
"What did you say...?" Redhead frowned as his veins bulged.
"Forget it." Zayne waved his hand, "I'm not going to explain to such a fool that the world of the Fallen Fate is as complicated and unfair as ours. By the way, you know your death will be real now, don't you?"
Zayne's words sent shivers down the men's spines and chills.
"What kind of nonsense are you talking...?" Redhead muttered in disbelief.
Zayne nodded slightly, "After using Chaos Coin, your wounds became real, as did your death. That it."
"I don't believe you! This is nonsense!" Redhead exclaimed in a panic as he waved his hand, "It's just a fucking game, you can't die in it!"
Zayne shrugged, "Believe me or not, that's your business. However, there's something you can't argue with."
Zayne's cold eyes grew deeper as he stared intently at Redhead, giving him goosebumps all over his body.
"If you die right here, right now on the grounds of this hospital, it will definitely happen, won't it? Your superpowers won't save you from death."
Redhead trembled as he took a few steps backward as well as the other two, however, at the last moment he gathered his strength and lunged forward, clenching his teeth tightly.
"You can't intimidate me!" Redhead exclaimed as electric spheres of great power appeared in his palms.
Zayne slowly rose, letting the moon illuminate him.
"I've already done that."
"Wait... You did..."
Redhead's eyes went wide as he realized who was in front of him.
Zayne clenched his fist tightly, a moment later it plunged into Redhead's stomach, causing him to feel a terrible pain.
The impact triggered a shockwave that threw Redhead back several meters, causing him to roll over the ground.
'Damn... That felt good, and it's getting scary...' Zayne said inwardly, looking at his hand.
