Chapter 262 Three Eyes

A broken heart could mean many things, it could be betrayal, betrayal, or unrequited love. However, it could also be a sign of despair for the person one was in love with. It didn't have to be a lover, for sincere love also went to family members.

Zayne didn't know what the sign on his emblem meant, but he was ready for any challenge to pass the Chaos Trial.

"Well, I don't know what's in store for me, but it looks like I'll have to make another choice this time, and it will be much harder than the last one." Zayne muttered before heading towards the portal.

The red flames slowly consumed him while hundreds of eyes were directed at him. Absolutely, everyone was wondering what was going to happen next as well as Zayne himself.

Edvin occasionally glanced at Marcus, he realized that the Fate Knights shouldn't have left here.

'Hmm... We might have to kill them, but it looks like Marcus has some sort of plan too. Otherwise, they would have hurriedly left here by now.'' Edvin internally muttered before turning to Fride.

"Do you need something?" Fride asked with a curious expression.

Edvin nodded slightly, "Be ready. After Zayne passes the third stage, we'll have to deal with the Fate Knights."

"Sure. I'll do whatever you ask." Fride nodded with a happy smile.

Karin watching this scene sighed, then a sly smirk appeared on her face, "You're going to kill them, aren't you?"

Edvin shrugged, "Most likely, however, considering one of them is Marcus, I can't say for sure. But... They certainly won't leave here knowing that Zayne is one of us. He's developing fast, but he shouldn't have to live in fear that a few Crusaders will find and kill him."

"I see... Well, I think we can deal with that. That's not what's most important right now." Edvin muttered, watching as Zayne walked through the portal.

Soon enough it disappeared, and a massive flame reappeared over the lake, through which it was possible to see where Zayne was and what was happening to him.

To Zayne's surprise, on his way to another place, something now appeared.

In the midst of the darkness, next to the white road leading forward, was an altar on which lay an amulet. The amulet was in the form of an hourglass with red sand inside.

'Hm? I'll only be able to use it temporarily? But, why is Chaos giving me something like this? Zayne was puzzled, but he had no other choice anyway.

He took the amulet and headed towards the passage. As soon as he reached the end of the path, the hourglass inverted, and his entire body was covered in a thin red shell.

Whoooooooooooooosh.

Zayne found himself in the middle of a dark path in a place unknown to him. To his surprise, there were many sleeping wolves nearby, for some reason he appeared right next to their den.

Now he realized where he needed to go, it was extremely obvious.

"What is it...?" The girl said in disbelief, looking at the three amber eyes, "Wait... Is it really a Chaos Hearth...?"

"Yes!" The young man exclaimed with a frightened expression, "Come on, we have to get out of here as fast as possible!"

The young man grabbed the girl's hand, and they quickly ran away. They passed next to Zayne, but because of the red shell, they couldn't see him.

These two weren't the only ones who decided to get as far away from Chaos Hearth as possible. Hundreds of beasts inhabiting this forest decided to do the same.

Wolves, bears, foxes, and small rodents, all ran as far away as possible. They were doing everything they could to avoid being in the territory of the Chaos Hearth.

However, there was also one person in this forest who should have headed towards the Chaos Hearth instead of running away from it.

"Well, in a way it makes sense that it's the Chaos Hearth, but... Why do I get the feeling that Chaos has nothing to do with it?" Zayne frowned before heading towards Chaos Hearth.

'Valira was not created by Chaos Energy, nor were Snake Tree, Clort, and Lizards. All of those events actually happened in the world just like this one.'' Zayne pondered with a complicated expression.

He knew that there was a way to summon a Chaos Hearth. It required a special crystal, and the brilliance he saw could come from such a crystal.

'Hmm, I don't know what's going on here, but I can find out a little later. I need to get to the hills first.' Zayne internally muttered with a glance at the amulet. His invisibility would last for about thirty more minutes, and that was more than enough.

...

Step. Step. Step.

At the same moment, a group of armored knights were heading towards Chaos Hearth. Ahead of them were three Fate Knights in blue armor, each wearing two stars on their shoulder pads.

Their leader was a man with short black hair, a menacing gaze, and an intimidating scar running across his face. A powerful aura emanated from him, and his white armor showed his status as well as his massive sword with a sharp blade.

Zayne, who was running down the slope, saw them from afar, and for a moment his eyes went wide.

'Crusader...? Hmm, considering how fast they got here, they knew that Chaos Hearth might appear here soon... Well, that's curious.'' Zayne stared at them before jumping down and speeding up.

He was sure that as long as he kept a certain distance, then no one would notice him.

"Damn, I used to be able to guess right away what the point of his test would be, but now I don't understand anything." Edvin muttered, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, "This looks like an ordinary Tier Three Chaos Hearth that they knew about in advance."

"Yeah, they expected this to happen, but it wasn't Chaos that did it." Karin said calmly, "I'm pretty sure someone used a very powerful and spell-modified Chaos Crystal. Someone specifically summoned this particular Chaos Hearth, someone who has arcane knowledge and is well-versed in blood magic."
