Chapter 397 - Pick Up

Michael continued gaming till past midnight as he continued his journey inside the game.

So when he woke up the next day, it was already quite late in the morning and his phone continued ringing which irritated him as he wondered who was calling him like crazy.

"Dammit, who the f*ck is it?" Michael cursed as he picked up his phone from the small drawer beside him.

But when he saw the name of the person calling, his anger was quickly doused and he immediately answered the call, "It's Michael, do you have any good news for me, Antoine?"

Antoine: [Hahaha! Of course! The thing you asked for, it's done!]

Hearing the good news, Michael suddenly felt that today is going to be a great and he couldn't help but put a smile and said, "That's good, it seems I wasn't wrong that I approached your help for this"

Antoine: [Of course, but…]

"But what?" Michael said when he heard the hesitation on the man's voice.

Antoine: [My people did manage to prevent the plans of the people from the IRS, but I sure hell know that this isn't the end. I know what that old geezer is capable of, he would surely approach the matter from a different angle]

Michael just smiled and said, "I'll take care of it, I'll owe you for this one then, see ya!"

Without even waiting for Antoine to answer, he immediately hung up the call and slowly got up from his bed.

He quickly headed to his bathroom and took a shower, before making his way down and made a simple sandwich for breakfast. Then he brushed his teeth, took his car keys and made his way to the veterinary clinic where Amanda and Eunice took the pups to be taken care of.

In fact, just before he had woken up, Michael's phone was already full of messages urging him to go to the clinic to take the pups, and there's also Greg, who was pestering him with messages to introduce him to Randy and the others.

He just ignored him though, because he would need to consult Randy and the others first if they wanted to be associated with someone from the military.

While on the road, his phone that's on the holder by the dashboard suddenly rang, and Michael quickly connected the call to the bluetooth speaker of the car.

"Morning babe! What's up!?"

Amanda: [What's up my ass! Where are you!? The clinic called to inform me that you didn't show up, didn't I tell you last night to wake up early?]

"Eh…must be because I played a lot last night, and went to bed late. Soooo….yeah~" Michael said while scratching his cheek.

Amanda: [I shouldn't have entrusted you with this task. Do you know that I'm paying extra for every exceeding hour that the pups stay there?]

Hearing what she said, Michael couldn't help but laugh and replied, "Geez~! You are so stingy babe! I thought you loved those puppies!?"

Amanda: [Shut up, every penny counts! So hurry up and go get Terry and Cruz! Then head over to the cafe and let's have a meal]

"Yes, yes~ I'm hanging up babe! I'll see you later, yeah?" Michael said while looking at the busy road in front of him.

Amanda: [Uhmm~ take care on the road then!]

Then she ended the call, as silence once again resumed inside the car.

Even with the AC on, Michael still couldn't help but sweat while he was talking to Amanda earlier. So he wiped it off while saying, "God~! Women really are such scary creatures when they are angry. Hmmm~ if other people were to hear what I just said, I'm afraid that they would assume that I'm a simp or some kind of beta male, and that's what truly scary"

Almost an hour later, Michael arrived near his destination and parked his car at the clinic's parking lot.

Ding~!

Just as he disembarked from his car, Mcihael suddenly heard a notification from his vibrating phone, and when he looked at it, he saw that he had suddenly received a huge sum of money from someone.

"$15,000?" Michael said in confusion after seeing that he had suddenly received a huge sum of money from out of nowhere.

Then he quickly remembered something, which made him smile, "Seems like the little guy didn't forget to pay his dues"

His words were quickly followed by a call, which surprised him as he wasn't expecting this particular person to actually call him, "Wow, I wasn't expecting for you to call me, Fox. So what's up?"

Fox: [Hahaha, of course! I'm only calling you to make sure that you've received the money]

Michael smiled as he entered the veterinary clinic saying, "I did, but isn't it too small? Is that guy having a hard time?"

Fox: [What do you mean by small? That's already a lot here, don't forget that we live in two opposite sides of the world]

Michael just laughed and said, "Alright, alright, I'm hanging up, and you guys are really on fire this last couple of days"

Fox: [Ha! All thanks to you! Anyway, I'll tell you something later, I'll call you back]

Sonner after she said that, Fox immediately hung up the call, which made Michael wondering and curious about what Fox wanted to tell him.

Michael looked at his phone and mumbled, "I wonder what she wants to tell me?"

Then he turned his attention to the clerk who had been watching him and with an apologetic smile, Michael said, "Hi, sorry about that. I'm here for Terry and Cruz" and he couldn't help but feel weird saying the latter part of his words.

The clerk smiled and she said, "It's fine, and aren't you that guy?"

Michael arrived before the desk and was astounded saying, "That guy? What do you mean?"

"You're famous in WeTube with your fight the other day at the trail" the clerk replied while taking out some paperwork from her drawer.

Michael quickly got what she meant and said with a laugh, "Ahhh~ I just found out about it last night. I didn't expect my fight would become that popular"

He had indeed learned about it last night when his mother called him while he was busy playing the game, and he was shocked to discover that it wasn't just about his fight with Greg, but even his encounter with the gangster were included!, and it was even the most popular out of the two!

Which of course, helped in their arrest with animal abuse, and on the other hand, made Michael a little famous in their area as even news outlets had reported on it.

Finally getting the right paperwork, the clerk looked at Michael with a smile and said, "Anyway, take a seat for now and give me a minute, and I'll go take Terry and Cruz from the back, yeah?"

"Sure, take your time" Michael said as he found a seat to sit on and started browsing his phone as the clerk headed to the back.

And while that was happening, the doctor arrived at his clinic and greeted Michael on the way, but when he realized that he was here for the two dogs.

He immediately started giving Michael a rundown about what happened and advised him on things that he needs to look out for, for the two pups to recover in full health.

He had even praised him for saving them, causing Michael to only smile as he doesn't really know what to say with that.

And soon after that, Michael left the clinic with the two pups in tow.
