2563 The Disappointed Royalty!
Du Miao held his breath as he spoke, awaiting the Mirror God and God of Fools’ answer.
Du Miao had not trusted this promise but had looked forward to it. However, he and the other members of the Freedom Federation’s royalty had only been served repeated disappointments.
Firstly, the Mirror God and God of Fools had maintained their high and mighty attitudes, which did not align with their promise at all. Furthermore, they were still the ones who called the shots on most issues. They only sought out the opinions of others when they were in a good mood. If they were in a bad mood, they would not even inform the others of their decisions.
Now, Ka Ma had requested to contract a fey with a powerful bloodline that was also suitable for her. Du Miao felt that she was being rather greedy to be eyeing the Three-Headed Dark Phoenix, but in a practical sense, her request was reasonable as she was still a member of the Freedom Federation’s royalty.
Although it could not be said that Ka Ma had contributed significantly to the Freedom Federation’s development thus far, she had made her share of contributions.
Besides the Mirror God, Goddess of Mercy, God of Fools, the other members of royalty took shifts guarding the territory in the marsh world.
Ka Ma had only ended up in such a state because she happened to have the bad luck of encountering an invasion by one of the marsh world’s powerful Dictators. If any of the other members of royalty had been in her situation, they would not have ended up in a better state than Ka Ma.
If the Mirror God and God of Fools granted Ka Ma’s request and allowed her to form a contract with the Three-Headed Dark Phoenix, it would show they had changed their mindsets to some degree.
But if they were unwilling to give her the Three-Headed Dark Phoenix, Du Miao felt that there was no point in holding out any more hope for the Mirror God and God of Fools.
The Three-Headed Dark Phoenix had come to the Freedom Federation after they killed a Radiance Envoy during a Major Federation Meeting and used the Radiance Envoy’s fey with the Barren bloodline’s essence blood to nurture a fey.
Although it was not as powerful as a regular fey with the Barren bloodline, it was still stronger than normal phoenix-species feys.
The Mirror God was clearly the one who had persuaded him to change his attitude toward the other members of royalty. He had taken in the Mirror God’s suggestion and changed. But now, it was the Mirror God who was not walking the walk.
In truth, the Mirror God was always reasonable and did want to change the Freedom Federation.
It was only a shame there was nothing he hated more than others trying to take what he already saw as his own. If the Three-Headed Dark Phoenix had never caught his eye in the past, or if it was another fey of equal value, the Mirror God would not have hesitated to grant Ka Ma’s request.
The Mirror God had no clue just how much of a ripple effect his rejection would have.
“Brother, do you think the Radiance Federation has something special that allows them to negotiate with the marsh world?”
The Mirror God deeply suspected Chef Supreme and Iron Prison’s words. He did not believe that Chef Supreme and Iron Prison had the ability to back up their words. They had not even awoken their birth horoscopes. They did not even have the right to speak with Dictators who had set their spirit fires alight.
The God of Fools said with certainty, “We will indeed hand over resources to Chef Supreme and Iron Prison first. But if they don’t help the Freedom Federation with our problem, we won’t let them take the resources back to the Radiance Federation.
“Chef Supreme and Iron Prison have essentially led the people from the Radiance Federation into a trap. Chef Supreme will have to make good on his word!
“It looks like the Radiance Federation has found a way to make the dimensional lifeforms more cooperative. Brother, go and see Chef Supreme now. We won’t try to haggle. Just ask him to name his price. Regardless of what price he states, agree to it as long as it’s an amount we can afford.
“Rather than resources, what we need more of is time. If we remain stuck in Fresh City for another six months, the Freedom Federation will really lose everything!
“The Radiance Federation’s goal is clear. They want to gain as many benefits as they can from helping us. They also don’t want to be too greedy and cause us to give up on asking them for help. So, it’s likely that one year’s worth of resources from all the cities’ earnings will be enough to cover the Radiance Federation’s price!”
The Mirror God nodded. He agreed with what the God of Fools had said.
