Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran returned home, where Nanny Zhang was still waiting for them, she hadn’t gone to sleep yet.

“Young Master, Young Mistress, are you going to have your medicine tonight? I kept it warm. If you are, I will bring it to you.”

“Alright!”

Mo Xiuchen nodded at Nanny Zhang and, holding Wen Ran’s hand, they both sat down on the sofa.

Soon, Nanny Zhang brought their medicine, and the strong medicinal scent quickly filled the entire living room. Wen Ran took her own bowl, grinned at Mo Xiuchen, before tipping it back into her mouth.

A gleam flashed through Mo Xiuchen’s eyes as he watched Wen Ran finish her medicine. He gave her a date to mask its taste, before lifting his own bowl and gulping it down.

“Nanny Zhang, is there anything else?”

He asked proactively when he noticed Zhang standing there, seemingly having something on her mind.

Nanny Zhang hesitated. The young couple had arrived home late and should be very tired at this point. According to etiquette, she should not disturb them yet…

“Young Master, Young Mistress, there is something I would like to ask for your help with.”

Wen Ran blinked, confused, “Nanny Zhang, what is it?”

Mo Xiuchen looked at Nanny Zhang kindly and then reached over to pull Wen Ran into his embrace, enveloping her small, soft hand in his larger one.

“It’s about my son, Little Liu. He came home tonight and told his father and me that he wants to marry Tong Shishi.”

“That was quick?”

Wen Ran turned to Mo Xiuchen, surprised.

Mo Xiuchen narrowed his eyes and said nothing.

“Yes, he and Tong Shishi haven’t known each other for very long and now he’s telling us that Tong Shishi is pregnant and he wants to marry her. Young Master, Young Mistress, we, his parents, don’t agree with his decision. Tome, Tong Shishi is an unworthy woman. She was recently involved in a scandal with the second young master and who knows how many men she’s been with before.”

Mo Xiuchen frowned a bit with a troubled look in his eyes and said in a slightly deeper voice, “Nanny Zhang, where is Little Liu now?”

Nanny Zhang showed a complex emotion in her eyes, and her eyes turned red as she replied, “After we scolded him a bit, he stormed off. He even said that regardless of whether we agree or not, he wants to be with Tong Shishi.”

Wen Ran was shocked. She turned to look at Mo Xiuchen, who patted the back of her hand to reassure her, and she nodded, remaining silent.

“Nanny Zhang, don’t worry. I’ll call Little Liu and find out what’s going on.”

Mo Xiuchen pondered for a while, and only then offered his comfort.

“Thank you, Young Master!”

Nanny Zhang’s face brightened. Little Liu had always been obedient, and she hoped that this time would be the same too.

After Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran went upstairs, he said gently, “Ranran, why don’t you go take a bath first, while I call Little Liu? We can figure out what kind of spell Tong Shishi has cast on him that has made him so stubborn.”

“Don’t scold him. The more you scold him, the less likely he is to listen.”

Wen Ran pondered for a moment before advising him softly.

Mo Xiuchen caressed her face, then pinched her nose while chuckling lightly, “Don’t worry, I will handle this small matter effectively.”

Wen Ran shot him a glare before turning around to pick up her clothes from the cloakroom and head to the bathroom for a bath.

Sitting on the leather sofa, Mo Xiuchen casually crossed his legs and dialed Little Liu’s number. Since Qing Yang and Qing Feng had undertaken the task of protecting Wen Ran, Little Liu had lots of free time on his hands of late; he had hardly driven for him in these past few days.

He probably spent all that free time with Tong Shishi.

The phone rang a few times before Little Liu’s voice answered, “Hello, Young Master.”

Hearing his voice, Mo Xiuchen’s brow furrowed. He was a married man himself, and at this time of the night, he could tell from the unusual tone in Little Liu’s voice exactly why he sounded that way.

“Where are you now?”

His tone was slightly colder. He held great respect for Nanny Zhang and Housekeeper Uncle Liu. It would seem that Little Liu had grown wings — choosing to break his parents’ hearts for a unworthy woman.

“Young Master, did my mother ask you to call me?”

Little Liu’s attempt to avoid the question resulted in a cold snort from Mo Xiuchen, “Are you with Tong Shishi? Is the baby she’s carrying really yours?”

“Young Master, yes it is,”

The tone of Little Liu’s voice hardened unexpectedly. It seemed like he didn’t appreciate his doubt. Tong Shishi had been with him these past few days, so if she was pregnant, who else could be the father?

She might not have had the cleanest past, but that was in the past, wasn’t it? Everyone makes mistakes, he had even had a previous fling with Cheng Jia.

“I heard that you want to marry Tong Shishi. Have you thought this through?”

Mo Xiuchen picked up the displeasure in Little Liu’s tone. He squinted; Tong Shishi was indeed quite something. Not even Cheng Jia had managed to make Little Liu heed her every word.

“Young Master, I have given it serious thought. Shishi is pregnant with my child, and I want to marry her. My parents don’t agree, but Young Master, could you please talk to them for me? Even if they don’t agree, for the rest of my life, I will only marry Shishi.”

“No regrets?”

A scornful laugh escaped Mo Xiuchen.

“No regrets.”

“Alright. I’ll speak to Nanny Zhang and Uncle Liu for you. Since you’re going to marry Tong Shishi, bring her home tomorrow. You can’t get married without even introducing her to your parents.”

“Young Master, you agreed?”

Pleasure filled Little Liu’s voice, but there was also disbelief.

“Does it matter if I disagree to your decision about marrying your own wife?”

Mo Xiuchen’s mocking response was followed by a casual, “Remember, tomorrow morning, nine o’clock.”

“I understand, Young Master.”

Finally, at dawn, the master bedroom calmed down. The air was filled with the lingering scent of passion. Mo Xiuchen was hugging Wen Ran’s soft body tightly, his long fingers gently stroking her flushed cheek, lingering on her enticing lips.

Every night of intimacy with her was the happiest time for him.

Exhausted, Wen Ran was like a lazy cat snuggled in his arms, her slender hand resting on his chest, his steady heartbeat resonating under her palm.

“Xiuchen, you haven’t told me, how did your conversation with Little Liu go?”

Wen Ran’s eyes still held remnants of their bewitching luster under the soft light, making her look alluringly attractive.

“Aren’t you tired?”

Mo Xiuchen’s lips curved into a sexy smile, his long fingers tracing a path from her lips, down her neck to stop over a pink mark on her chest. The feel of his coarse fingertip against her skin sent tingles down her spine. Wen Ran grabbed his hand to stop him from teasing her.

“Of course I’m tired!”

Wen Ran glared at him, let out a yawn to show how tired she really was, and indicated she wouldn’t be able to handle any more.

Mo Xiuchen chuckled lightly and held her even tighter: “Since you’re tired, don’t think about all those people and their affairs, just go to sleep.”

He pulled the covers up to tuck her in, dimmed the lights a bit more, then slid under the covers himself. He planted a kiss on her forehead and softly wished, “Goodnight!”

Wen Ran smiled and responded with a “Goodnight!” Not asking any further, she closed her eyes obediently and fell asleep.
