Chapter 476: 475 Hope for a Miracle
Tong Shishi clutched her battered face, gazing in disbelief at the sullen frown on Mo Zixuan’s face. The light that flooded from his eyes was as cold as a knife, his words sharp and ruthless, “Tong Shishi, if you dare to try anything like this again, I promise you will neither want to live nor be able to die.”
Last time, he spared her. She promised to obey his every command.
Yet merely twenty days later, she dared to deceive him. She clearly didn’t respect him at all.
With tears streaming down her face and welling in her eyes, she explained in a wronged tone, “Zixuan, everything I did, I did it for your sake. I know you love Wen Ran deeply. Every day she stays with Mo Xiuchen, you’re in pain. I want her to leave Mo Xiuchen, to be with you.”
Mo Zixuan snorted coldly, “Don’t think I don’t know what’s on your mind. You feel that Wen Ran robbed you of your chance to marry Little Liu. You are seeking revenge on her, and can’t bear to see her happier than you, isn’t that right?”
Their intense gaze made Tong Shishi shiver. She denied subconsciously, “No. Zixuan, I really did it all for you. I hate seeing you in pain every day.”
“Who told you I’m suffering?”
Mo Zixuan glared at her, the fire in his heart raging and unable to vent. He suddenly moved, forcefully pushing her onto the couch, unceremoniously stripping away the obstructions on her body and plunging in harshly from behind…
The pain made Tong Shishi’s face turn pale, but she clenched her teeth and refrained from making a sound. She knew Mo Zixuan was punishing her, humiliating her as her punishment. Her hatred for Wen Ran only intensified. The more Mo Zixuan made her suffer, the more she swore to expose Wen Ran to the truth.

Kangning Hospital
Gu Kai pushed open the door of the director’s office, and Gu Yan, sitting behind the desk, looked up immediately.
“Dad, what do you need?”
Gu Kai strode over, pulled out the chair in front of the desk, and sat down with a smile on his face.
Gu Yan looked mildly serious as he spoke lightly, “Ever since Ranran’s past was revealed, our relatives have been wanting to meet her. Just now, your aunt called again, saying she wants to see Ranran.”
Gu Kai frowned slightly at his words, “Dad, Ranran does not know about the scandal that swirled around some time ago, nor does she know that her origins have been exposed. If we suddenly introduce her to those relatives and they blurt out something…”
“I also have those concerns, but now that we’ve found Ranran, we should observe these social ritual.” Gu Yan also detested this.
“Let’s do it in a few days. I’ll tell them that I’m super busy these days. Once I am free, I’ll invite them for a meal so that everyone can meet Ranran.”
Gu Kai pondered for a moment. A flat refusal would definitely offend people.
But until he found a cure for Ranran’s condition, he sincerely did not wish for her to know the truth. He hoped that he can deceive her, even if only for a day longer.
He was hoping for a miracle. Maybe one day, Ranran would suddenly recover and become pregnant, and she wouldn’t need her medication…
Gu Yan pondered, then said, “Let’s do it this way then. Call your aunt later, or ask Yuting to explain it to her.”
“Okay, I will find Yuting now. It would be better for her to talk to her mom.”
When Gu Kai came out of his father’s office, he immediately went to Shen Yuting’s office. She was looking at a patient’s medical records. When she saw him come in, she was a bit surprised, “Cousin, what brings you here?”
“What, don’t you welcome me, your dear cousin?”
Gu Kai gently raised one eyebrow and, with graceful strides, walked towards her.
Shen Yuting chuckled and teased him, “I could tell you that I don’t welcome you. This is the gynecology and obstetrics department. It’s not very fitting for a man like you to come here.”
Gu Kai furrowed his brows, walked to the front of the desk and feigned displeasure as he reached out to flick Shen Yuting’s forehead, “You are getting more and more unruly. I am your cousin after all, and to think you would speak to me like this. Could it be that apart from treating patients, no one else is allowed in your office?”
Shen Yuting dodged Gu Kai’s hand and giggled, “Cousin, you can come in here if you bring my cousin-in-law in with you.”
Narrowing his eyes and gazing at Shen Yuting’s smiling eyes, Gu Kai knowingly said, “Oh,” drawing out the word, before asking nonchalantly, “Yuting, it seems that your love life is progressing well, yes?”
“Cousin!”
Shen Yuting frowned, her tone carrying a faint blush.
Gu Kai chuckled, “Aren’t you going to introduce him to us? Are you afraid that I’ll scare him away?”
Shen Yuting’s eyes sparkled. She wasn’t afraid that Gu Kai would scare him away, but rather, Jiang Liu bore quite a resemblance to Mo Xiuchen. Some of his habits also seemed to mirror his. She was worried that Gu Kai might have some misunderstanding upon meeting Jiang Liu.
And the truth was that she still hadn’t let go of Mo Xiuchen completely. She wanted to wait until she had fully moved on, the day she would truly and completely fall for Jiang Liu, before introducing him to her family.
“In a little while. He isn’t prepared yet.”
Gu Kai nodded, “Alright, I will wait a little longer. Also, could you call home and let your mother know that I’m very busy for the next few days? Once I’m free, I’ll invite them all for a meal so they can meet Ranran.”
Shen Yuting understood immediately and agreed without hesitation, “I understand. The scandal from before, Ranran still isn’t aware of it, right?”
“Temporarily, she doesn’t know yet.”
Gu Kai furrowed his brows. Secrets cannot be kept forever. Sooner or later, Ranran would find out.
Shen Yuting pursed her lips and spoke quietly, “I hope a miracle happens and that Ranran gets better quickly. She and Xiuchen love each other so much. I believe that heaven would not be so cruel.”

“Xiuchen, the medicine is ready!”
In the peaceful suburban villa.
In the master bedroom on the second floor, Mo Xiuchen was lazily leaning against the leather couch. One of his long legs was propped up on the wooden coffee table, and the other casually stretched out. His well-defined hand held a remote control, and he was watching the news.
Upon hearing the voice by the door, he immediately retracted his leg and turned to look at Wen Ran, who was carrying a tray. With a light press of the remote in his hand, he switched from the news channel to the entertainment program she had been watching earlier.
As Wen Ran neared, a familiar scent of medicine wafted through the air.
Mo Xiuchen stood up and reached out to take the tray. Wen Ran, smiling, avoided his hand and set down the tray on the coffee table, “Sit down.”
“Alright!”
There was a warm smile in Mo Xiuchen’s profound eyes. He sat back down on the couch and his gaze remained on her tenderly, unwilling to move away.
“This bowl is yours, and this bowl is mine.”
Wen Ran served the medicine and handed one bowl to Mo Xiuchen while keeping one for herself.
“Ranran, let me drink first tonight.” Mo Xiuchen looked at the liquid medicine in the bowl and smiled lightly. Normally, Ranran would be the first to drink, but tonight, he wanted to drink first.
