Chapter 533: Don’t be a third wheel 532

Wen Ran didn’t expect that Mo Xiuchen would actually come back to have lunch with her.

The company has a celebratory banquet tonight, shouldn’t he be busy?

When she saw Mo Xiuchen appear in the living room, she widened her eyes in surprise. On the side sofa, Bai Xiaoxiao also showed a flash of surprise in her eyes, but soon, she revealed a bright smile and joked, “Ranran, someone came back to accompany you, I, the light bulb, should make a perfect exit. I won’t disturb you, I will go back to have dinner with my mom.”

Seeing her standing up and really about to go, Wen Ran frowned and quickly reached out to support her, “Xiaoxiao, Nanny Zhang has already prepared lunch, and it’s not like there’s not enough to eat. Why are you leaving?”

“I don’t want to be a light bulb.” Bai Xiaoxiao laughed with an ambiguous expression, glanced at Mo Xiuchen who was coming over, and whispered to Wen Ran, “He came back specifically to accompany you. You can’t forcibly keep a light bulb in the vicinity. I’ll come again tomorrow.”

“Alright then!”

Wen Ran pouted her mouth and helped her into the wheelchair. Bai Xiaoxiao’s leg was slowly recovering, she was not as desperate as Wen Jin initially, so her recovery was relatively slower.

But, she herself was not in a rush, fearing that once she recovered, she would be caught by her mother for a blind date.

Wen Ran saw off Bai Xiaoxiao. Looking up, she met Mo Xiuchen’s warm and deep gaze. Uncontrollably, her heart trembled. Before she could speak, her cool little hand was wrapped in Mo Xiuchen’s large robust palm. His low, magnetic voice rose in her ears, “Ranran, let’s go back to the room.”

Threads of warmth seeped into her skin, reaching her heart. She pursed her lips and quietly asked, “Are you not busy with the company?”

Mo Xiuchen had a gentle smile around his mouth, pulled her hand towards the living room, “Not busy, I came back because I have good news to share with you.”

“What good news?”

Wen Ran blinked, her clear, bright gaze focused on him.

Mo Xiuchen led her into the living room, Nanny Zhang was setting up lunch. When they entered the dining room, he pulled out a chair, let her sit down, and only then sat down beside her, “Wu Tianyi has been caught.”

“Ah, when did this happen?”

Wen Ran’s eyes widened in astonishment, and Mo Xiuchen laughed softly, gently explaining, “Just this morning, Wu Tianyi was arrested by the police in a small county near Xiao Wenqing’s hiding place.”

Mo Xiuchen carefully observed Wen Ran’s changes in expression, paused for a moment, and continued, “Ranran, both Wu Tianyi and Xiao Wenqing have been caught. Now, only Fu Jingyi remains, and he will not be able to hide for much longer.”

Upon hearing mention of Fu Jingyi, Wen Ran’s body became abruptly stiff.

Mo Xiuchen felt her slightly stiff little hand in his palm, his heart tightened, and his grip relaxed a bit. His voice softened even more, “As long as we find Fu Jingyi, we can cure your illness.”

Wen Ran’s eyes flickered, avoiding his tender gaze. Staying here, she was forcing herself to temporarily forget about that incident. Now that he brought it up, her calm heart became chaotic again.

Fu Jingyi hated her parents so much that even if he was caught one day, he wouldn’t tell them.

What he wanted to see most was her, the test subject, walking step by step towards destruction, falling into the abyss of pain, as he had initially hoped for.

At this thought, a chill ran down Wen Ran’s heart and her beautiful cheeks turned pale instantly.

Mo Xiuchen seemed to see her worries, his gaze tightened, “Ranran, even without Fu Jingyi, father will definitely be able to cure your illness, he has already contacted a team of international experts, and they’re currently testing various methods.”

“I’m fine.”

Wen Ran weakly pulled up the corners of her mouth and gave him a small smile.

She did not want to seem sad, nor did she want him to feel sad. She just couldn’t control her own emotions.

“Let’s eat first.”

Mo Xiuchen changed the topic, picked up the chopsticks from the table and handed them to her. Wen Ran took the chopsticks and nodded slightly.

This meal, despite the lack of conversation between the two, had a very warm atmosphere. Mo Xiuchen truly was a gentle and considerate husband, always attentively taking care of Wen Ran.

He served her food, poured soup, when she ate shrimp, he would peel them for her, when she ate fish, he would remove the fish bones for her. He even tested the temperature of the soup before giving it to her.

“Xiuchen, you don’t have to fuss over me, I can manage on my own.”

Wen Ran was both moved and anxious in her heart. However, her words had no effect on Mo Xiuchen, he just softly chuckled and said, “Ranran, I like to take care of you.”

Hearing these words, Wen Ran’s nose tingled, she lowered her head to avoid his deep, affectionate gaze.

After the meal, he accompanied her Upstairs to the master bedroom, Wen Ran suddenly asked, “Is everything prepared for tonight’s celebratory banquet?”

Mo Xiuchen’s deep eyes flickered slightly, he chuckled and replied, “All arrangements have been made. It’s just setting up the banquet hall and preparing some food, drinks, and the like. It’s an internal company banquet, it doesn’t need to be too grand.”

Too grand, and Cheng Jia would feel even more important.

Wen Ran gave a small smile, casually saying, “If it doesn’t need to be too grand, can I accompany you dressed like this?”

Upon hearing this, Mo Xiuchen’s eyes lit up. He answered unrestrainedly, joyous, “Of course, you look very nice dressed like this.”

Although it was an internal company banquet, there would still be many people. Mo Xiuchen did not want Ranran to dress too seductively and attract the gazes of other men, he would be very displeased. Moreover, he genuinely thought that no matter what she wore, she was always the most beautiful.

Wen Ran felt a hint of sweetness in her heart when he complimented her like that, her cheeks turned slightly red with embarrassment, “Perhaps, only you think so.”

Mo Xiuchen chuckled lightly, arrogantly saying, “I really hope so, if others were to see your beauty, I would feel insecure.”

He amused her into laughter. She was about to say something when the ringtone of her cell phone rang again.

Mo Xiuchen’s brows furrowed slightly. He complained with dissatisfaction, “Who is so inconsiderate, calling at this time?”

“It’s Older Brother Gu.”

Wen Ran took out her phone, saw the caller ID on the screen, pressed the answer button with her slender finger, “Hello, Older Brother Gu!”

She didn’t put it on speakerphone. Mo Xiuchen narrowed his eyes, his long arm wrapped around her shoulders, his handsome face leaned in to listen to what Gu Kai said on the other end of the phone.

“Ranran, I’ve found the Jiang Liu you asked me to investigate.”

On the other end of the phone, Gu Kai’s voice came over lowly. A hint of profoundness flashed in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes, he looked at Wen Ran questioningly.

Jiang Liu?

Who was this person, and why did Ranran want to investigate him? Most importantly, he didn’t know about this.

Meeting his questioning gaze, Wen Ran gave a slight smile, softly saying, “Older Brother Gu, send me his information.”

“Ranran, this Jiang Liu is a bit special.”

Gu Kai was silent for half a second before answering hesitantly.

“Special? In what way?” Wen Ran’s eyes flickered with light, she asked, surprised.
