Chapter 583: 582 Don’t care

“Xiuchen, there’s something else I need to tell you.”

Just before hanging up the phone, Qin Mu added suddenly.

Mo Xiuchen asked with indifference, “What is it?”

For him, apart from Wen Ran, nothing else was crucial at the moment. He could guess that what Qin Mu was about to say had something to do with the company.

“Your grandfather has been discharged from the hospital and Mo Zixuan is now acting as the president. Ah Feng and I have already left the company.” Qin Mu’s voice came, carrying a touch of the nighttime chill in G City. The current Mo Zixuan differed somewhat from before.

While he lacked Mo Xiuchen’s skills, his ambition and greed were even stronger.

Xiuchen had wanted control of the company to take revenge for his mother and to retaliate against Mo Jingteng for his cold-heartedness all those years. Now, Wen Ran was the only one in Xiuchen’s mind, and for her sake, he was willing to give up everything.

Mo Zixuan, in contrast, had undergone a transformation. Even though Xiuchen was ready to let go, the company embodied their decade-long efforts. He still felt the need to give Xiuchen a heads-up.

Mo Xiuchen’s deep gaze narrowed slightly, and a shrewd smile flickered across his thin lips. “If he wants it, let him have it. How come the old man ended up in the hospital? Was it because Mo Zixuan angered him?”

In the past, Mo Zixuan had been extremely respectful to Mo Jingteng. Now, had he turned against him for power?

Qin Mu chuckled on the other end, his laughter filled with mockery. “No, he wasn’t angered by Mo Zixuan. Yesterday morning, as soon as Ah Feng and I returned to the company, your grandfather summoned us to his office, claiming Mo Zixuan was unfit for the role of president. He suggested that one of us take over your position. When we refused, he fainted.”

“Fainted?”

Mo Xiuchen’s eyebrows slightly arched, curiosity ringing in his voice. He was rather surprised that the old man would feign a faint. However, it did make sense that he would not sit back and let Zixuan ruin the company he’d invested his heart and soul into.

“Right, at first Ah Feng and I thought he really had passed out, we were shocked. It wasn’t until he was rushed to the hospital that Ah Kai told us he was just pretending. And sure enough, he woke up as soon as Ah Kai entered the operating room.”

Mo Xiuchen scoffed, leisurely interjecting, “Zixuan found out that he planned to replace him with either you or Ah Feng, so Zixuan took advantage of his ‘fainting’ to keep him out of the way in the hospital. At the same time, he seized the opportunity to oust you and Ah Feng to monopolize the power, right?”

“Yes.”

Qin Mu replied curtly, without elaboration. With Xiuchen being so astute, he didn’t need to explain – he already would have understood the situation.

“I see. Let him do as he pleases. I don’t care about any of that.”

He didn’t need MS Group for his revenge, nor did he need it to support his Ranran. Therefore, regardless of what Mo Zixuan chose to do, it didn’t bother him.

“Given your resolute departure, I’m sure your grandfather knows you’ve quietly made a fortune over the years. I don’t think he’s going to let you go so easily.”

After a brief pause, Qin Mu softly warned.

There was no way that Mo Xiuchen could have accumulated such wealth just from his salary at MS Group. The truth was that they had made much more on the side over the years. What nobody knew was that the three of them had set up another company – Haochen – which was presently causing losses for MS Group.

Since ‘Haochen’ was not located in G City and Mo Xiuchen was not listed as the legal representative when it was established, Mo Jingteng naturally wouldn’t have a clue. Over the course of two short years, Haochen had developed rapidly and become a client of MS Group. Moreover, due to…

“Even if he found out, what difference would it make? I publicly confronted MS Group with Haochen this time to show him that MS Group means nothing to me. As long as I desire it, I can transform Haochen into a large corporation like MS Group.”

Though Mo Xiuchen’s tone was seemingly casual, it was filled with an unparalleled arrogance. His resentment and scorn for Mo Jingteng were palpable, he had never intended to stay in MS Group for long.

Years ago, Mo Jingteng had used his work and the company’s development as an excuse to neglect his mother, enabling a love affair that ultimately claimed his mother’s life.

Later, under the guise of socializing and business trips, he completely ignored Xiuchen, leaving him at the mercy of Xiao Wenqing’s repeated attempts on his life. Had it not been for Wen Ran’s help, he could have lost his life during that time.

He had vowed to make Mo Jingteng regret his actions, to bring about the collapse of his company and let all his efforts go to waste. But then he changed his mind and decided to leave that opportunity to Mo Zixuan instead.

Mo’s mansion

At one in the morning, Mo Zixuan was still working in his study.

He was determined to prove his capabilities, to show Mo Jingteng that not only Mo Xiuchen could be a genius in the business world – he too could manage MS Group well.

Having wrapped up a portion of his work, he yawned tiredly, stretched lazily, and leaned back into his chair, massaging his temples.

Being at the top was not easy, and the pressure on him was immense.

All this was solely because of Mo Xiuchen’s superiority. It was difficult enough for him to match Xiuchen’s brilliance, let alone surpass him. The thought sparked a twinge of resentment in his heart.

By the time he finished a cigarette, the computer screen had turned into a screensaver. He stared at the slowly changing photo, a complex emotion welled up in his dark eyes.

The screensaver was a picture of Wen Ran.

He had only changed it to this after Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran filed for divorce. In the photo, Wen Ran was charming and attractive, especially her bright, smiling eyes which had a warmth that captivated people.

Several scenes darted across his mind, and a pang of pain shot through his heart. Images of her and Mo Xiuchen together, their loving and sweet moments, once again brought about a complicated knot of emotions in his heart, which slowly morphed into jealousy.

“Ranran, if my mother hadn’t schemed against you back then, would you have ended up with Mo Xiuchen? Would you have fallen in love with him?”

He ran his fingers over the delicate features of Wen Ran’s face on the screen, muttering to himself. His feelings for her had never faded. Even when she married Xiuchen, and despite their affectionate relationship, his love for her had never changed.

Other than the time when his memory was locked away, once he had regained his memory, he simply changed his approach. Coupled with other factors, he didn’t dare to pester her as he used to.

He was lying in wait, for the opportune moment.

A look of determination began to glow in his eyes, mixed with jealousy and longing. His lips tightened as he spoke word by word: “Ranran, one day, I will bring you back by my side.”

Once he secured the position of president and attained real power, he would bring her back.

There was no way he could truly let the woman he loved be with Mo Xiuchen. He couldn’t stand by and watch them live a blissful life together while he led a solitary, lonely existence.
