Chapter 597: Is 596 a dream, or….

Perhaps it was because he was so close, his breath sprayed onto her cheek, or perhaps it was because he had correctly guessed her dreams, Wen Ran opened her eyes wide in shock, the color deepening on her face.

“You, you guessed it right.”

This time, she did not avoid his gaze. She stared back at him with her luminous and clear eyes, revealing not a hint of doubt.

Mo Xiuchen saw his reflection in her eyes, a deep smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. He reached out to touch her lips, forcing her to open her mouth and eat the blueberry from his hand. “Do you have the same dream every night?” he asked curiously.

Wen Ran nodded, her face flushed. Discussing this with him made her feel a bit uncomfortable, especially given the status of their relationship. It seemed inappropriate to explore this topic.

“Yes, these past few nights, I’ve had the same dream. Isn’t it strange? I’ve never had such dreams before.”

Wen Ran’s brows knitted in confusion, seeming quite puzzled.

Mo Xiuchen was also slightly surprised. He hadn’t expected that she would have the same dream every night, dreams filled with things he did to her.

He didn’t reveal his emotions, his handsome face sported a warm smile, “Ranran, perhaps it’s because your thoughts during the day influence your dreams at night. When we spent every night together before, of course, you wouldn’t dream about it. But now, even though I’m holding you every night, we’re just sleeping.”

“I’ve been sleeping so heavily these past few nights, not waking up once the entire night.”

It seemed as though Wen Ran hadn’t heard him. She furrowed her brows and spoke to herself.

“Ranran, you’ve been strolling the nearby streets these past few days. It’s no wonder you’re sleeping so heavily. After your next check-up tomorrow, let’s go visit the nearby city for a couple of days. These past few days, did you feel uncomfortable at all?”

“Really, am I tired?”

Wen Ran looked into his eyes. Was she tired?

“Would you like to go?”

Mo Xiuchen disregarded her question, giving her a warm smile instead.

Wen Ran gave a light chuckle, not bothering with the previous topic. She answered happily, “Yes, of course, I’ll go.”

She wanted to join him in visiting many places while her body still allowed.

Oddly enough, on the day she was hospitalized, Dr. Brown clearly said there was a chance her condition might rapidly deteriorate. Yet, these past few days, she hadn’t felt any discomfort.

**

That night, after Wen Ran had taken a bath, Mo Xiuchen was there as usual with a glass of warm milk for her. His gentle voice soothed her ear, “Ranran, drink the milk first.”

Wen Ran looked at the glass of milk in his hand, gave a slight smile, and reached out to take it.

Mo Xiuchen’s gaze lingered on her skin, which appeared as jade with a hint of pinkish glow after a shower. He hadn’t noticed that when Wen Ran touched the glass, he loosened his grip as he did the previous nights. But the glass suddenly fell to the carpet, resulting in a slight sound as the milk spilled all over.

“Ah!”

Wen Ran let out a soft cry, hurriedly bending down to pick up the glass.

“Ranran, did you get burnt?”

Mo Xiuchen was taken aback, watching as Wen Ran bent down. He quickly grabbed her hand to stop her.

Wen Ran’s movement paused as Mo Xiuchen caught her wrist. She looked up at him with an apologetic expression, “Xiuchen, I’m sorry. I don’t know why I dropped the glass.”

Seeing Wen Ran’s guilt-stricken look, Mo Xiuchen felt a tightness in his chest. He quickly comforted her, “It’s okay. I’ll pour you another one.”

After saying this, he led Wen Ran to sit in front of the vanity, calling the hotel staff to clean up the mess.

“Ranran, let me dry your hair first.”

“Okay!”

Wen Ran nodded. Like previous nights, she obediently sat in front of the vanity, her soft gaze focused on his reflection in the mirror. The attendant arrived promptly, but left quietly without disturbing them once the cleaning was done.

After drying her hair, Mo Xiuchen offered to have another glass of milk sent up, but Wen Ran declined.

“Xiuchen, I don’t feel like drinking milk. A glass of water will be enough.”

So saying, she walked up to the sofa and poured herself a glass of water. After drinking it, she turned her gaze to Mo Xiuchen, who seemed deep in thought.

“Ranran, it’s still early, you didn’t go out this afternoon. How about we go out and walk around the night market?”

“Go to a nightclub?”

Wen Ran looked at him, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

Mo Xiuchen shook his head, gently holding her hand, “No, not a nightclub. That’s not a place for you.”

“Alright, but we can’t stay out too late. We have to come back quickly. I’ve been going to sleep very early these past few days and still don’t wake up until ten in the morning. If we stay out too late, I’m afraid I won’t get up until twelve tomorrow.”

Wen Ran said teasingly, her eyes full of mirth and clear as water.

Yet, Mo Xiuchen felt like she was beginning to suspect him.

“You go change first. I’ll wait outside.”

After saying this, he walked to the door, opened it, and turned to look at her before leaving, “Ranran, no need to hurry, I’ll wait for you.”

Once the door was closed, Mo Xiuchen looked at the door which stood between him and Wen Ran, his brow furrowed slightly.

He had been careless just now, letting the milk spill all over the floor. Should he drug her again tonight?

Inside the room, Wen Ran stood in front of the sofa, silently watching the closed door, knowing that Mo Xiuchen must be outside at the moment.

She pressed her lips together, thinking about how she had purposely dropped the glass earlier, causing the milk to spill. A wave of guilt washed over her.

She knew she shouldn’t doubt Xiuchen.

He was the man she loved most. She should trust him. But the past few nights had been so unusual, she wanted to understand why.

If she didn’t drink that glass of milk tonight, would she wake up at night, have those dreams, and sleep till late tomorrow?

Were the past few nights really dreams, or…

She bit her lip tightly, inhaling deeply before turning towards the bed. Instead of wearing the clothes that Mo Xiuchen had prepared for her for tomorrow, she opened her suitcase and started rummaging.

In the hallway outside the room.

Mo Xiuchen leaned against the magnificent wall, holding his phone with one hand while the other was tucked in his pocket. His deep, magnetic voice echoed in the hallway, “Zixuan and Jingteng’s doubts don’t matter, just do as planned, we don’t need to fear them.”

“Hmm, a few more people came today. They were high-level executives and professionals from MS Group. Xiuchen, at this rate, Haochen can take over MS Group within a few years. Zixuan is going crazy.”

On the other end of the line, Luo Haofeng was extremely pleased. Although Jingteng might have guessed that Xiuchen was behind Haochen, he had no concrete evidence.

If it weren’t for the fact that Xiuchen didn’t want Haochen to grow too quickly in the past, and didn’t want to use any means, MS Group would’ve been replaced by now.
