Chapter 71: Unconvinced Second-Year Students

After the announcement ceremony, Shye was swarmed by his classmates. Heck, even those who weren't that close to him joined the fun and wished him good luck in the adventurer academy competition.

It was only after a few chaotic minutes passed that Shye was able to go to the dean's office to claim his core student uniform from Dean Snowcrest.

Dean Snowcrest spoke a few inspirational words and reminders before giving him his core student uniform and allowing him to leave his office.

Shye happily walked back to his dormitory while admiring his core student uniform.

He never even dreamt that he would get one as a freshman in the academy so the whole thing of him being the substitute representative still felt a bit surreal to him.

However, some people were bound to be unhappy after the unexpected announcement from the deans.

On the way back to his dormitory, a few second-year students stood in his way with clenched fists. These were the top second-year students who refused to believe that Shye deserved the spot more than them.

Fortunately for Shye, although unsatisfied with the current arrangements, the third-year students were mature enough to swallow the bitter pill so they didn't challenge him.

In addition to this, they also believed that Shye was more talented than them so although a bit painful, they chose to give way.

However, the second-year students weren't as mature as the third-year students and they couldn't stand Shye overshadowing them.

In their minds, they were also just as talented so they couldn't accept the fact that Shye was chosen instead of them or the third-year students.

Hence, they stood in his path to teach him a lesson that there is always a queue and that a person must line up before getting his turn.

"Crowley, we've watched some of your matches and I agree that you might be a bit more talented compared to us. However, I do not believe that your talent is so great to the point that you can skip the queue."

"You're lucky that the third years were mature enough to let you go but unfortunately for you, we're still quite hot-blooded. Do you have the guts to fight me in a duel? If I win, give me the slot. What do you say?"

Shye recognized the guy who spoke, he was the best among all the second-year students, scout course 1st-ranked Havan Lestor.

Shye's eyes narrowed into slits after hearing the challenge of the second-year student, Havan.

Havan thought to himself.

Although he doesn't have 5000 silver coins on him, he has at least one thousand and three hundred silver coins. If the other second-year students chip in, then they would be able to afford the five thousand silver coin wager.

Havan suddenly turned around and huddled with the other second-year students which left Shye a little confused.

"Guys, lend me your silver coins, there's no way I would lose to someone a year younger than me and if I manage to obtain the substitute representative spot, I would owe you a favor, how's that?"

Havan said

"What?! Why use our silver coins?! What if you lose?"

"That's right! How will you pay us if you lose?"

The other second-year students replied.

"Are you guys stupid?! How will I lose to someone a year younger than me?! Didn't I defeat all of you?! Do you guys think that you will lose to this guy?"

Havan tried to convince them by targeting their sore spots.

"Absolutely not! No way I'll lose to this guy!"

"Me? Lose against this guy? Fat chance!"

The other second-year students retorted.

"See? Then how will I lose to him if even you guys won't lose?! Just lend me the money and once I get the substitute representative spot, you can call me to help you on a quest or something."

After a few more minutes, Havan finally convinced the other second-year students and threw a huge sack containing 5000 silver coins on the ground.

"There, 5000 silver coins. If you win, you get the silver coins, however, if you lose...hehehe..."
