Chapter 103: Shopping for Talent

Shye excitedly ran to his room after locking the door. Maia was usually out adventuring at this time so it was the perfect time for him to purchase a talent.

Two months ago, when he was in the middle of exploring the system, he found the existence of talents in the [Upgrades] section of the system.

It seems that talent actually exists and although most people weren't born with talent, some people were.

Unfortunately for those with no talent, there was no way for them to ever have one in this lifetime. The only thing they could do to get an advantage against those who had talent was to work hard and obtain as many permanent blessings as they could.

As for Shye, he couldn't see any talent indicated in his status every time he opened it from the system so he just assumed that he had no talent as well.

He didn't mind it though–with the right price, he could just buy one from the system.

Still, talent seemed to be very valuable because even the lowest-ranked talents cost around ten thousand points in the system and these lowest-ranked talents barely had any advantages; some of them were even outright useless.

This is why Shye diligently saved up thirty thousand points to purchase a decent talent for himself. In the future, he could always purchase more but for now, he shall settle with an uncommon or rare talent.

Shye directly ignored the common talents and enthusiastically scrolled down to the uncommon talents section.

Description:

Boost one's vitality attribute by 5% permanently.

'Hmm...This one looks good but isn't a 5% boost too small?' Shye pondered before continuing to scroll down and check other options.

A stronger physique was indeed attractive but the boost on this one is too small.

After around ten minutes, he found another talent that got his attention.

Description:

Gain the reaction time of a cat.

'That's it? What the hell is this description?' Shye inwardly complained but he had to admit that cats have faster reaction time than humans and this talent might save him one day.

He pondered for quite a while before deciding that there were still lots of options and he had thirty thousand points to spend so he shouldn't decide on a talent hastily.

He then continued scrolling for half an hour before sighing.

"Haah...It seems that these uncommon talents were pretty mediocre..."

Shye thought to himself.

Unfortunately, the uncommon talents weren't enough to satisfy him so he directly scrolled down to the rare talents section in hopes of finding a decent talent to get him through his academy days.

Upon seeing the first talent in the rare section, Shye smiled widely as his enthusiasm returned.

'Now we're talkin'!' Shye inwardly thought as he continued scrolling down the rare talents section.

The boosts provided by rare talents were enough for him and he only needed to find a talent that would benefit him the most

After thoroughly checking his status, Shye saw two things that made him confused.

First was the question mark talent visible beside the talent he purchased and the second one was, that the attributes exceeded his expectations.

He took some pen and paper to manually compute the correct values and sure enough, the values were doubled.

Shye pondered for a while before smiling widely after guessing the reason why the values doubled.

He then returned one of his greatswords to the inventory and checked the values again.
