"Wendy!!!"

Shye exclaimed in a mix of horror and worry. He decisively used [Rush Stab Lv.2] on the creature to get its attention away from Wendy.

*SPURT*

To his unpleasant surprise, his skill-empowered stab was only enough to pierce through the creature's thick skin, not even strong enough to pierce through its flesh.

Noticing the human hilariously trying to wound it, the Bull-Lizard swiped its tail in an attempt to send Shye flying.

However, Shye wasn't any random adventurer, his battle-hardened instincts allowed him to narrowly avoid the tail swipe attack by jumping.

Not giving the creature any time to react, he immediately transitioned into a [Destructive Chop Lv.3] as he swung both of his greatswords downwards in an attempt to sever the bipedal lizard's tail.

*SPURT*

This time, the result was different.

The tail wasn't as tough as the lizard's body so Shye's attack managed to cut deeply.

Unfortunately, his strength wasn't enough to completely cut through the tail, hence, the lizard still had the option to use its tail swipe attack anytime.

Still, the damage was enough to completely attract the Bull-Lizard's attention away from Wendy.

Meanwhile, Wendy, who was recently in a bad spot quickly realized that Shye was helping her so she forcefully snapped out of her stupor and immediately ran away.

They wanted to help their teammates finish off the other orc grunt but it seemed that it would be impossible to do so since they were in a precarious situation themselves.

The creature's body was blocking the way back to where their teammates were so the two of them had no choice but to flee in the opposite direction, moving farther and farther away from their teammates.

'Did this lass just expect me to lose the clash?!' Shye didn't whether to laugh or cry. He wanted to complain to her in indignation but he wasn't in a position to do so.

Not only did she heal him, but they were also in the middle of escaping so he decided to temporarily put the matter on the back of his head.

Unfortunately, although they managed to cover a bit more distance, the Hellspawn Bull-Lizard started catching up again.

'Shit! Shit! Think!' Shye couldn't help but remember the intelligence attribute. Would upgrading it allow him to think of a solution?

'Wait...What am I thinking about?! Focus!' He forcefully stopped his mind from wandering off as he looked around, hoping to find something that would help them escape.

Alas, as if the gods and goddesses of fate and victory were mocking them, a hundred-foot-fall cliff suddenly appeared in front of them.

"Curses!" Shye exclaimed as he continued running closer and closer to the edge of the cliff, after all, the bull-lizard was right behind them so turning back wasn't an option.

In just a few more steps, they would have to either stop running or jump down, which would most likely end their lives anyway, thus, he determined that they had to take their chances and fight the massive bipedaled lizard.

The gears in Shye's brain shifted and turned as he tried his hardest to look for a way out of this nasty situation.

*ROAAAAAARR*

'Shit! Why are we so unlucky?! ...Or...Actually...'

Fortunately, just before arriving at the edge of the cliff, Shye managed to think of a brilliant plan. Quite risky, however, he had no choice but to try it since they would die anyway if he didn't.

"Wendy! Sorry about this! There's no time to explain...I trust that you will be able to figure out what to do." Shye said as he grabbed Wendy's hands and threw her to a bush momentarily confusing the charging Bull-Lizard.

However, in just a few moments, the lizard determined that the male human in front of it was the threat so it decided to temporarily ignore Wendy and focused on killing Shye, the hateful bastard who badly wounded its tail.

Seeing the (B-) ranked creature winding up its charge right in front of him, Shye took a deep breath.

"Hoooh...This plan has to work or I'm dead...Wendy, I'm counting on you."
