The youngsters tried hard to suppress their fear, however, the wyvern was simply too high-level of a creature for them.
Adding in its innate draconic aura, it was almost impossible to maintain composure.
After killing their first four victims, the two ember wyverns did a one-eighty, performing the same attack it first did–flying towards the representatives with a gaping maw.
No one was hit this time though, prompting the wyverns to change their attack patterns upon realizing that the remaining representatives weren't so easy to kill.
Surviving the second attack, the representatives slowly grew accustomed to the draconic pressure–their tense muscles gradually relaxing.
This allowed them to move much more freely.
Not as free as a flying wyvern though, in the end, they are only human–bound by the laws of gravity.
Promptly after changing its attack to calamitous downward dives, another four representatives perished in the simulated realm–sent back to their ringside seats.
In just one minute, only three representatives remained on both sides.
For Aslan Academy, the surviving ones were Asha, Abel, and naturally, Damien.
On the other hand, for Colzen, it was the three strongest duelists: Shye, Siegfried, and Ian.
The remaining representatives pondered whether to use their trump cards in this match or not considering that most of them would participate in the next match, the three-on-three.
The Aslan representatives faced particularly difficult decision-making because a loss here would result in Colzen being crowned as the king of Valenzia for the year.
However, if they decided to deploy their trump cards, there's a risk they might not recharge in time, leading to another defeat in the pivotal fifth match.
Once again, Damien was in a tight spot.
The bastards from Colzen are just too full of surprises, who knows if they had some sort of scheme to escape from Horcus' [(Time)Chrono Cube Lv.3 (Unique)] in the next match?
Both of them were on the brink of survival; unfortunately, they fell just short.
Once more, the fate of Colzen in this round hinged on Shye's shoulders.
Seeing the results, the Aslan crowd burst into cheers, continuously chanting "Aslan" as Damien, Asha, and Abel gloriously stood on the stage–proud smiles plastered on their young faces.
Realizing at the last moment that they would perish should they decide to save the aces up their sleeves, the Aslan representatives unhesitatingly revealed their trump cards.
They have Horcus' overpowered ability for the last match anyway so they had fewer things to fear compared to Colzen, though, it was unknown whether Damien still had something or not.
As the simulated realm inside the blue dome burned, the huge holographic screen suddenly split into four parts, each part showing how the four remaining students onstage survived the terrifying blast.
Amongst the four, Shye's method was the simplest one.
A pair of rotten wings appeared on his back and with a single powerful flap, he flew, avoiding the immense devastation.
As for Abel, the other scout representative of Aslan, he suddenly dove at his own shadow, disappearing into the ground.
Similarly, Asha herself sunk into the ground like a mole, however, instead of a shadow, she hid in a void pocket before reappearing a few seconds later.
Shockingly, the pocket exploded right after, causing devastation of a smaller scale compared to the wyvern's vermilion orb.
The wyvern was flying though so it wasn't hit by the void explosion. Well, even if it was, it wouldn't suffer any sort of damage anyway.
Its defense was simply beyond what mere students could penetrate.
The last one, Damien Martinez, did the craziest thing among the four, prompting the Aslan crowd to cheer louder.
Coating his katana with the familiar sword intent, Damien used another trump card, [Fortified Dash Lv.3 (Uncommon)], which not only enveloped him in a tough protective barrier but also allowed him to dash forward with unprecedented speed.
Combining two trump cards along with a [Power Slash Lv.4], Damien valiantly slashed through the vermilion orb, barely managing to create a small safe space for himself on the edge of the stage, right below the enormous wyvern.
At that moment, Shye seemingly faded into the background–a side character to Damien's story.
