Chapter 267: Scared Witless

After six people perished, it was only then that Mason and Arden understood what actually happened.

The bastard could cast spells instantly!

"MASON, YOU STUPID F*CK! DON'T JUST STAND AROUND! HELP US!"

Arden was no slouch though, and it seemed like this wasn't his first time assassinating people as he quickly recovered from his stupor and used the skill, [Blink Strike Lv.4] to instantly appear behind Shye in an attempt to catch him off guard.

Unfortunately, this stupid scout opening template was overused in Shye's eyes, allowing him to react instantly.

Facing the desperate Arden with a confident smile on his face, a draconic roar resounded into the night, prompting others who heard it to look warily in the direction of the ongoing assassination—or rather, justified massacre.

Shortly after, a nauseating smell of urine permeated the air.

Poor Arden was scared out of his wits.

"Filthy," Shye commented, the two elemental staffs in his hands vanishing into thin smoke, replaced shortly after by two enormous, menacing greatswords, causing everyone's eyes to almost pop out of their sockets.

*SPURT*

A severed head hurtled through the air, making scarlet blood fountain in chilling volumes from the cleanly sliced neck.

Soon after, Arden's headless body collapsed to the ground.

"M-M-MONSTER!! W-WHO ARE YOU?! WHY ARE YOU IN THIS CITY?!" Mason exclaimed crazily, his mental state in utter chaos as he plopped on his butt in panic and despair.

"Bingbong! Correct. I'm indeed a monster, so you should blame your idiotic self for attempting to assassinate me. I would've forgotten about you already if you hadn't foolishly tried to kill me." Shye replied, flashing a menacingly crazy smile at Mason, further scaring the f*ck out of him.

Meanwhile, Seira stared at the gruesome chaos with a horrified look.

She had never seen people kill each other before, hence, the current scene was a bit too much for her naive eyes.

Shye, whom she thought was a pleasant and easygoing guy, turned out to be someone who could kill people without batting an eyelid.

*SPURT*

Seeing that Seira was still out of it, Shye decided to burn the corpses first, casting [Fire] type skills one after the other to turn each one to mere ashes.

Subsequently, he used his trump card, gravitational drain, to gather all the warm blood littered across the area in one place before using one of his protective skills, [Earthen Wall Lv.3], to cover the gathered blood with dirt.

His cleanup wasn't perfect but it will do.

The pathway wasn't in the vicinity of a city anyway so unless Mason's parents from Valenzia made an effort to try and uncover what happened, there wouldn't even be a single soul who would care about what happened in this place.

It would also be difficult for Mason's parents to track him.

Even if they did manage to do so, he had undeniable proof that he was simply protecting himself.

"Seira, follow me," Shye said, forcefully dragging Seira back to reality.

His tone remained calm, much like how he always spoke to Seira. However, to her ears, it seemed to carry a slightly darker undertone.

Although trembling, Seira followed Shye.

Her mind was in chaos and she couldn't determine if Shye would silence her or not, hence, as a subconscious response, she docilely complied.

Shye was indeed thinking of silencing her, however, not in a dark way Seira thought of.

Upon reaching a mature birch tree concealed by dense shrubbery, Shye retrieved a recording crystal before gazing sternly upon Seira, who seemed to be confused and slightly scared of what he was about to do.

Contrary to her now overly active imagination, Shye simply wanted her to do a bit of oath-taking.

She witnessed quite a lot of his secrets, after all.

"You remember our terms, right? Now, I need you to swear that you will not disclose any of my secrets that you witnessed today or may witness in the future, otherwise, I can legally strike you down." Shye said with a serious countenance, activating the recording crystal promptly after.

Naturally, he had no intention of actually harming someone like Seira, even if she were to break her promise.

He simply asked her to swear to ensure she wouldn't entertain any notions of clandestinely revealing his secret.

"O-Okay, I, Seira Ramah, swear to not reveal any of Shye Crowley's secrets, otherwise, I authorize him to strike me down legally."
