"Phew...Finally back..."
Staring with a slight smile at the familiar Balkrow city gates, Shye entered, heading straight towards the guild branch headquarters.
If one would ask him, his inclination would lean towards spending every moment with Shirley.
Regrettably, the current circumstances didn't permit it, as he found himself encumbered by the demands of the system's mandatory quest.
He could opt to not strive to complete the mandatory quests, however, the repercussions would be far too severe should he do so.
First, he would lack the strength to even consider searching for his parents.
Second, all the benefits he obtained from the system would cease to exist and he would revert to being an average adventurer. One who would probably not be able to keep the affection of an excellent and driven young woman like Shirley.
Third, he would be betraying his benefactor's expectations.
And fourth, his little sister would cease to have a strong pillar of support.
All that just for the short-term happiness of a few months or years before it all comes crashing down upon him?
No, thank you.
The wiser course of action would naturally be to finish everything he had to do as early as possible.
Once everything was over, he could opt to live a peaceful life with Shirley, start a family with her, engage in occasional adventures to sustain their livelihood, visit his younger sister and, if possible, reunite with his parents, and eventually pass away peacefully in old age.
His dream was rather simple.
However, the amount of work he had to put in before achieving such a simple dream was bound to be astronomical.
Nonetheless, he would never back down.
"F*ck! F*ck! And I dared despise him! Do you guys think he's the type to hold grudges?"
Hearing the hubbub that she started, the young woman was slightly irked, not expecting her guildsman to stir up such a huge commotion over a mere ace representative of a champion academy.
Well, those who consider themselves true elites don't hold academy graduates in any regard whatsoever and their first instinct was to prove that even the top-tier academy graduates, who had to engage in a scrap fight with other students just to obtain what they needed from the academy, wouldn't be able to hold a candle against top-tier true elites.
And she, Megan Wolfe, the second-ranked true elite in the Balkrow branch, believes that she would wipe the floor with this so-called strongest academy graduate.
"So? Who the hell are you?" Shye asked the young woman with long pink hair and a slender physique with a cold expression.
This darned chick just ruined one of his schemes to earn a lot of points; naturally, he would be annoyed.
"I'm Megan Wolfe, Balkrow branch's second-ranked rookie, the one who will expose how much of a fraud you are in the upcoming rookie representative selection tournament!"
"This crap again? The 9th-ranked Mason and the sixth-ranked redhead both said the same thing. Didn't I just destroy them both? You so-called true elites never learn, do you? I'm telling you now, you won't win against me so quit your pretentious and idiotic acts.
That way, you won't bring embarrassment upon yourselves once I destroy you just like how I would everyone else." Shye sneered in disdain, tired of the bullshit spewed out by the annoying true elites.
He wasn't even bragging and was simply stating facts.

Shye just doesn't believe that someone in the same generation as him would be able to defeat him.
Well, not in Valenzia Region, at least.
Shockingly though, Megan wasn't annoyed by Shye's words in the slightest and instead, smiled sweetly upon hearing his sharp retort.
"I heard that you were arrogant and it seems that the rumors were true. I just hope that you can keep this arrogant act of yours up when I humiliate you in front of all our guildmates, including the emeralds."
The pink-haired young woman said before proceeding to ignore Shye and exiting the branch headquarters with a smile.
'Heh, I truly can't help but laugh at idiots like these. You're gonna defeat me? How? You're a mage!'
