Chapter 126: Battle Against the AOTG: Start

Name:Gacha Kingdom Building Author:
As soon as I noticed who was calling me, I rushed out of my house.

I couldn't waste any time. A cab would take too long, with my level, I would get there faster on foot. There's a bunch of regulations about jumping through rooftops and using your Gift on the streets, but I couldn't give a damn. If I was caught I'd just pay the fine.

No matter what, I wasn't going to stop for a second... Reaching Alex's place as soon as possible was top priority.

He called me 5 times in less than an hour... I knew he was the type of guy who would only do that in case of an emergency. I didn't even feel like there was something wrong, in my mind, it was all but confirmed.

Thanks to my high level and the skills I acquired through the Gacha boosting my status, at top speed it took me about 10 minutes to reach his place. It was the same building we had been meeting all this time.

Luckily, Alex chose this place to operate from, there was no one around, and I wasn't stopped or noticed while coming. Once I was close there was basically no danger of being seen or reported anymore since this place is basically a ghost town with no one living in the area anymore.

Since I ended up arriving so fast, everything should be fine. The night being so dark today should also help a fair bit.

I might've been captured on CCTV, but it should take some time for anyone to act... if they even decide to do something about it.

Now that I was in his office, the only problem was Alex himself... he was nowhere to be seen, and I began to grow impatient.

I thought about calling him multiple times, but with the job I assigned him and no idea of what was going on, I feared that his phone vibrating might create a problem.

As much as I hated it, my best option was to wait for him to contact me again.

He's a smart guy who has had his fair share of dangerous encounters. He was a capable man. I'm sure I did the right thing by hiring him. It was just a matter of waiting and believing...

But with what was on the line, this was incredibly hard for me to do.

After about 10 more minutes, I finally received another call from him. It was extremely short. He didn't explain anything and simply asked me where I was, using as few words as possible. I already imagined he was in a precarious situation, so I replied to him in kind, telling him that I was currently in his office.

He told me to wait and hung up.

True to his word, less than 3 minutes later, he reached this place. The door was open, and he barged in.

On his shoulder, he was carrying an unconscious guy, a man I didn't recognize. He had bruises and cuts all over his body... signs of a fight.

But this guy didn't matter at all. While I first glanced at him, as soon as my eyes drifted to the person Alex was carrying in his arms, and the state she was in, I couldn't think about anything else.

Maya: "Ah great... You had to get Miwen involved? You know he is only good for creating trouble..."

Alex: "It's the other way around. He was the one who involved me. And I tell you, If I knew this was going to end up with a revolution conspiracy I would've charged double..."

A revolution...? Ah, I see... these dumbasses really couldn't be satisfied huh?

With her strong sense of justice, I can already picture what went down...

My sister, Maya, is a strong woman. She's capable in every field she partakes. It doesn't take long for her to develop abilities in anything that she does. She's a prodigy and a genius.

This always leads her to achieve high positions in whatever group she becomes interested in.

But she's also a blockhead who forces her will onto everyone and doesn't know when to stop. It's not such a bad thing since she's almost always right anyway, but life is not so simple that you can convince others just by being right, so she often ends up escalating things...

It's her fault for giving others too much credit and fighting for dumb ideals such as justice. I knew that getting involved with a bunch of activists would end up being bad for her, but did she listen? Of course not.

The only problem she has is that she believes too much in herself.

It's not without credit, as she can accomplish anything she puts her heart into, but...

...Ever since we were kids, we have taken care of each other. She's a star with a clear destiny. Only the top of the world suits her. I believe I was lucky to be born her brother, and it's my pride to say that I have helped her, even if just a little.

I've lived my life without caring too much about most things. Whatever happened to me was fine. I didn't matter anyway. There was nothing I could accomplish, and without a Gift, I would probably end up living a mediocre life at best, without ever achieving anything great.

But it's a different story when it comes to her. She was always destined to have her name go down in history, and I believed that by supporting her, I could also bask a little in her shining light.

I could easily summarize my life before I acquired [Gacha Kingdom Building].

Back then, the things I loved were... Maya. The things I hated... Anyone who went against her.

The two of us always strived not to trouble our parents. Even though we were kids, we understood and admired their jobs. We did our best to be responsible.

And for the most part, my sister managed to live a quiet life.

The only one who couldn't fulfill his job was me. And the reason was often her.

She's capable of dealing with others in a way I never could. I don't have the patience or the kindness in me. The idea of lowering myself to understand others and their behaviors never sat well with me.

I cared more for their actions, rather than their reasons.

Deep down though, I knew that this was just a sign of my own weakness. I was broken, so I couldn't risk absorbing the defects of others.

That was a right only she had. She could pull so far ahead that coming back for others would still allow her to keep a great pace.

As for me... to even be able to finish the race, I had to kick down whatever stood in my way.

And if an obstacle troubled her, then, I'd just offer her my help to do the things she could not.

Not to mention, Maya's plan had a big flaw... believing that the guys who were about to start are revolution to topple the government were worried about getting in trouble with the law.

In their shoes... I would kill her. Even if she was in a crowded space... hell, even in broad daylight. It wouldn't matter. After the deed was done, it would just be a matter of going into hiding until the organization started moving.

If they somehow ended up winning, forget being a criminal, I'd be hailed a hero.

Underestimating their malice... I imagined she'd have matured a bit more now.

Miwen: "I'll be sincere with you guys. This is going to be stupid, and most of you might think it's uncalled for. So, I'm giving you the chance to walk away now. I'll assume that whoever stays is on board with whatever I decide. So, If anyone wants to spend the night relaxing in the Kingdom, you better say it now."

The room was filled with all the girls I'd forged a relationship with. I know they are not idiots, and while I tried really hard to do the best possible for every one of them... If I was truly a good man, I wouldn't have to put in any effort to do that.

I know at least some of them see through me... and they are always talking, so the others should also have an idea of what I'm about to do.

I also made sure to give them a big clue when I asked Licia to tell everyone to bring their weapons.

Still, no one in the room raised their voices.

Instead, Claire, Licia, and Anna readied their blades. Angelica, Beatrice, Cassandra, and Elizabeth all kneeled in front of me. Ellie took the bow from her back, and Mia came to my side, giving me a light knock on the shoulder, thus, activating her Gift, and showing her willingness to fight.

Elizabeth: "It shall be as you command, Your Majesty."

Miwen: "Good. I take it the new additions are also fine with it?"

Cassandra: "You may have me however you wish, my lord."

Angelica: "...I'll do my best to live up to your expectations, but with my current level, I don't think I can be of much help."

Miwen: "Don't worry, I've considered that. There's a special role I want you to play. I'll explain it to you later."

What I have in mind for her is a bit cruel considering it's her first day with us, but it's going to be a good test of her loyalty.

Right now, she's on the green... even more so than what I expected and I don't think this can simply be explained by my memories being shared with her since Cassandra's not on the same level.

Well... it's not only a test for her... there's a chance everyone's loyalty drops after tonight.

Choosing to do it anyway, I shared with the girls the current plan... if you can call it that.

My sister only recognized some of them, and as far as Gifts go, she only knew for sure one theirs, so we didn't have too much information on our hands and had to hope to not have bad matchups for the most part.

After I was done talking with Angelica and the others, we headed out of the building.

Five minutes later... a group started to approach us. As Alex had said, there were seven in total.

Army Of The Gifted Member: "...That's her brother, right?"

AOTG Member: "Yes... but he should be a small fry, only acquired his Gift recently. No info on those girls. But Maya's trail goes inside the building, I'm sure."

Even though they were speaking in a low voice, I could hear them clearly.

It's good that they underestimate us so much. Whoever is the scout that followed Alex's tracks seems to be quite capable, but with the amount of skills I have to block information gathering, he has very little to work with.

This fact alone made him wary, and he advised the others to proceed with caution. As expected of someone who managed to climb so far in a position that doesn't earn as much experience... he's good.

Army Of The Gifted Member: "...Yo boy! I suspect you didn't see a blonde girl coming this way?"

A little older than me... perhaps older than my sister too. He must've gotten his Gift during the First Contact... it explains his high level... and probably his confidence too.

Miwen: "Oh, I saw her... she went that way!"

It doesn't take a second before I close the distance. Just a few meters is nothing for me right now.

Before he could react, I grabbed his collar and sent him flying to a building across the street.

All of the members of the Army Of The Gifted readied themselves, but so did we.

Apparently, my sister said this guy was the biggest problem, and he seemed to be the one responsible for most of her injuries, including the one on her back...

Knowing that I just had to go after him.

Either due to her weird interest in me or knowing that this would probably be the most problematic opponent, Elizabeth decided to follow. She also blocked all attack attempts that they made against me.

Good, this should give the others some information to work with...

On the rooftop of the building I threw him at, away from the girls, it was just the fours of us. But he had no way of knowing that the blade I just pulled was Cassandra, so in his mind, he must've thought this was a 2v1.

The smile on his face bothered me... Even though I know I hurt him, he seemed to be excited.

I know that face... I've seen it countless times before, having to deal with morons who felt gutsy enough to mess with Maya.

He thinks he's going to teach me a lesson. That he's a hunter who can do whatever he wants to his prey.

I don't like this feeling... but I couldn't do anything about how ecstatic I was to beat the shit out of this moron.

While my mind tried to contain me, my body and soul screamed that it was both my right and duty.
