"What do you mean by that?"
"I just arrived here and barely even started studying the first word."
"This is completely unfair for those who arrived late."
The participants hurriedly stood up and complained about the arrangement. After all, they didn't even get a chance to properly study the array of words before they were told to move on to the next stage.
Alas, no matter how much they complain or cry their lungs out, the ancient ruin could care less about it.
A blue light shrouded everyone in the room with a high energy fluctuation. It was clear to everyone that they are about to teleport randomly.
"What should we do, Jing?" Yang Liqin asked in concern, tugging her hand on his sleeve. "If it's random teleportation, then it means we will be separated."
Jiang Ming nodded his head.
He was sure that this kind of cliche separation scenario would occur. Hence, he had already made preparations beforehand.
"Remember that Pearl Necklace I gave you, Yiqin?" Jiang Ming asked. "That Pearl Necklace has a GPS function on it, meaning you can determine my location no matter where I am at.
"Right… I forgot about this bad boy," Yang Liqin exclaimed, rubbing on her Pearl Necklace gently.
"The light is about to be done and we will be transported to a random location." Jiang Ming said, calculating the shrouding light on them. "Here, take this spatial ring and use it when the situation requires."
He placed the spatial ring on her marriage finger, causing her to blush slightly beneath her mask.
'This Jiang Ming… did he place it on this finger purposely?' Yang Liqin wondered silently.
Clearly, he didn't mean that, right?
Sometime later, the voice belonging to the ancient ruin echoed again.
"The transportation has begun. Good luck, actually I don't really give a damn. You can all just die or backstab or commit the crimes in your mind to your companions if you want. I could care less!"
With that weird announcement, everyone in the array studying was engulfed in a blinding light.
By the time they regained their eyesight, they realized that they were in different areas.
Some were in an amazon rain-forest type of environment, some were in a volcanic environment, and others were in an ocean-like environment.
The point was, that everyone got transported into different areas without any assistance.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ming found himself in a collapsed building all alone with a spooky mood around the area.
He could feel the deathly aura emitting from beneath the dead soil. "Damn, the ancient ruin must really hate me to transport me here. It's like a graveyard filled with dead souls lingering."
After activating his spiritual perception, Jiang Ming confirmed that he was the only one transported in this area.
Ding!
<Player Jiang Ming has entered Avalon Ruin>
<Discover the past history of the Avalon Ruin and its connection to the current timeline>
<Reward: Avalon Synchronize Weaponization: Gamer's Cube>
–
Jiang Ming was baffled by the sudden appearance of the system prompt. He swallowed a mouthful of saliva when he saw the reward for completing a new mission.
"History of the Avalon Ruin?" Jiang Ming muttered in disbelief. He couldn't help but felt the name sound familiar, almost like he had heard or seen it before.
Suddenly, he recalled reading the forum before his heart attack that had caused his death. In the forum, besides the numerous curses and protests about banning his account, there was a new update upcoming for Cultivation Omega.
It was said that a new area filled with different techniques was going to be live in 3 months.
'Could this be an early beta access?' Jiang Ming wondered silently. He wanted to blame his old self for being ignorant and not reading about the latest updates in the forum.
If he had read it before dying, then he would have understood what was going on unlike now.
"GLCS, what do you mean by discovering the past history of the Avalon Ruin?" Jiang Ming decided to ask the system for information. There was no way he could complete it without any prior information.
Information is the key to completing any type of long mission and is the most important factor in any type of game.
Ding!
<The Avalon Ruin was an aftermath of a worldwide war between the Immortals. They are closely related to the nearly extinct abyssal demon species. Within the Avalon Ruin are clues of the past and inheritances>
<It's suggested that Player Jiang Ming tread with caution when investigating>
–
Jiang Ming rubbed his chin, pondering over the Immortals War. According to Qi Shan's words, she was imprisoned by an Immortal and banished into a void-like environment.
At that time, he thought it was nothing important, but it seemed like he was mistaken about it.
He scratched his head softly to clear his mind and began his investigation of the Avalon Ruin. Since the GLCS was no longer restricted, then he could take advantage of this to gain a head start.
However, he made sure to check on his aunt's location and condition before moving forward. Once he realized she was safe and sound, Jiang Ming proceeded to enter the Avalon Ruin.
Ding!
<You have entered the Avalon Ruin. Corrosion in the ruin is currently 90% and Player Jiang Ming would continuously lose his stamina and health as time passes>
<To decrease the corrosion, Player Jiang Ming must plant an air-free device at a specific location. The device is sent to Player Jiang Ming's inventory, and the specific location is highlighted on your map>
–
Jiang Ming twitched his mouth when he finished reading the system prompt.
'Corrosion and placing devices to minimize it… why did it suddenly turn into a video-game element all of a sudden?' The missions are similar to those NPC handing out missions, except there are no NPC here.
"Sigh, let's just check the inventory. The reward better be something spectacular and not a rick-rolled meme." Jiang Ming cursed as he opened his inventory. Sure enough, there were in total 10 air-free devices stacked in his inventory.
