Chapter 3 I’m Not Becoming a Scapegoat

Looking at the message, Odin realized those people found out Leo had been demonized.

It was no wonder they had such a thought. Based on the game’s background introduction, the White Eagle Republic was controlled by the six gods on the surface. However, the original gods on this land were the real owners. The six gods called them the Old God or the Evil God.

Moreover, these gods’ power was not as powerful as the six gods, thus they only gave their followers a few benefits. For instance, stimulating the body of the followers made them violent.

Those being stimulated underwent an irreversible change, thus they were called Demonic Beings.

But Odin has some suspicions. The Blue Vine University was under the control of the God of Wisdom and most of the people here were followers of the God of Wisdom or students who believed in science. How could a demonic being of Old Gods appear?

When Odin was thinking about this, a young man came out of the crowd. “Odin, why are you here? Did you know something happened to Teacher Carter?”

Odin turned his head and looked at the young man and it was his university friend, Badd.

Odin hurriedly briefly explained what had happened just now.

Badd who was carefully listening by the side, finally said, “What you meant was due to some reasons you stayed here for more than an hour and Leo came and asked why you were not there on time?”

Odin nodded, and was about to tell him his idea when Badd suddenly said, “Odin, you have been targeted by someone, did you not see that? Leo set up a trap at Teacher Carter’s place and asked you to arrive there on time. He also reported to the police beforehand. I believe if you really went there on time, you would see the moment Teacher Carter died. Afterward, no matter what you chose, you will be the culprit. It was fortunate you suddenly felt dizzy and sat here. There are many students passing by and saw you or else even if you have a hundred mouths, no one will believe you.”

It was rare for someone to agree with Odin’s situation, he hurriedly nodded. “That’s right, I felt it was my luck. If my luck is not that good, why would I feel dizzy when I reach here?”

“Yeah, but you have to find out whether Leo’s plan was premeditated or not and how long they have planned it.” Listening to Badd’s constant nagging, Odin gradually frowned a bit.

He felt the Badd in front of him was a bit unfamiliar but the Badd he knew was a righteous person. If something happened he would give a punch instead of talking.

However, Badd did not notice anything as he patted Odin’s shoulder and said, “This matter is dangerous, who knows if there’s any problem within it. You should investigate a bit or else you fell into trap of the Evil Gods.”

After saying that, Badd inadvertently looked in the direction of Carter’s laboratory seemingly hinting at something.

Odin suspiciously glanced at Carter’s laboratory, when he focused his gaze in that direction, there was a glimmer of joy in the corner of Badd’s eyes.

Odin did not immediately promise, instead, he said, “Alright, I will think of a way to look into this.”

When Badd heard Odin say this, he stopped talking and could only say Odin’s luck was better.

Blue Vine University was a territory of the God of Wisdom. As one of the Six Gods, its extraordinary professions were Acolyte from the magic branch, Mechanic from the science branch, and the exclusive profession, Scholar.

Regardless of how well-mannered the students and teachers in Blue Vine University were if they really wanted to fight, the other followers may not necessarily be their opponents.

Since Odin enrolled in Blue Vine University four years ago, he had been secretly studying about the extraordinary and knew some stuff about it.

For example, their classrooms and dormitories were fine, but in Teacher Carter’s laboratory, there were magic arrays set everywhere.

If one simply entered, it would be courting death.

The normal way to enter was to make an appointment and enter through the main door.

This was the reason that although Odin had entered the laboratory before, he never went too deep into laboratory.  He did know what research was being carried out in the laboratory, but it seemed it was a research project called Authority.

The way Blue Vine University named the research project, Odin could not stop himself from complaining. Whatever they did, they would always name it with a high and mighty name.

For example, there was a water purifying experiment and it was named Poseidon I. For another example, there was a flying experiment, which was named The Wing of Gods. Thus, the Authority research project was probably the same kind.

As for the others, Odin could not think of anything worthy of attention.

When Odin was thinking about this, Badd was about to leave. Before he left, he reminded Odin, “It would be best if you can investigate earlier. Leo was just taken away. Those Black Hound haven’t found anything or else when they find out, there will be no more evidence.”

As Badd’s figure disappeared, the smile on Odin’s face was gone.

“Do you treat me as an idiot?”

He knew Badd wanted him to hurry up to Carter’s laboratory and look for something. However, Badd did not necessarily want Odin to find something. His purpose was similar to Leo’s wanting someone to be the scapegoat.

But was Odin such a dumb person? Why did everyone look for him? Odin was unable to understand why this was the case.

After Badd left, Odin carried his book with suspicion in his heart and did not do as Badd asked to go to Carter’s laboratory.

What was that place? Not just the magic arrays, there was just a murder case and the police were still guarding that place. If he went now, that would be courting death.

Odin was not an idiot, he ignored that place and carried his stuff back to his dormitory.

Too many things happened today, and he needed some time to sort his thoughts regarding these matters. Simultaneously, he had to think about what went wrong and why he was chosen by them to be the scapegoat.
