Chapter 18 Sowing Discord

Holding the glass jar, Odin returned to his dorm. Odin sat on his bed cross-legged and opened the jar to take out two pieces of Dracosnake Fruits.

Slowly putting them into his mouth, unlike the fruit’s wrinkly skin suggested,  it melted in his mouth. It was as though a warm stream cascading down his throat, gradually, Odin’s felt extremely comfortable like immersing in a warm hot spring.

As his blood began circulating, his fatigue was washed away. After a while, Odin gently heaved out a mouthful of mist, his lost energy finally restored.

Dracosnake Fruit might not be a high-quality herb but it had its specialty nonetheless. It was effective in restoring energy but that was it. It was incapable of healing outer injuries and sprains.

Thus, Odin still felt some pain in his arm and glabella. Fortunately, his energy was restored, so the pain was manageable.

Recalling the suspicious person he met in the contestant’s aisle all of a sudden, Odin took out the envelope with a silver snake seal on it and placed it on his bed.

After absorbing the essence of Dracosnake Fruits, it was already evening. Moonlight shone onto the letter through the dorm window. The silver edge of the envelope began emitting mysterious light.

Odin observed it carefully, but it was different from the Black Death Society’s envelope he saw before. So, the Black Death Society probably was not aiming at him.

However, he never had any interaction with the cap-wearing boy he met today before. Judging from his speed, he was an Agility-type. If it was the Black Death Society, they would immediately take action in the aisle instead of disappearing quickly and pretending nothing happened.

Taking a small knife from the table, Odin carefully opened the envelope in his hand. A piece of paper inlaid with gold leaf fell from it. The paper was still releasing a faint aroma.

Carefully unfolding the paper, Odin browsed through it before feeling amused by it. He casually threw the letter on his table and the envelope itself fell onto the ground.

The contents of the letter were insignificant, it introduced the Silver Snake Combat Club and its address, hoping for Odin tomorrow to meet with their manager and have a talk.

Based on the matches these past two days and combined with his performance, although the letter did not mention the purpose of meeting him, it was apparent to Odin that they wished to poach him.

The Life of Church’s profession book and emblem was coveted by everyone else, not just the Ground Combat Club’s siblings and Odin. Each of them entered the tournament with the two prizes in their mind.

Due to Odin’s outstanding performances, many combat clubs had placed their attention on him. If they could bring Odin under their banner, the chances of winning would be higher.

Odin finally recalled why he felt the pattern on the fire lacquer seal was familiar. After a certain match ended, he saw the current ranking of the combat club, and the Silver Snake was ranked third or fourth. To summarize, Silver Snake was a huge combat club.

Taking a match from the drawer, he lit the letter in his hand. It was not impossible for him to accept the ‘invitation’, he wished to see how would they talk to him.

The appointed place was in a courtyard of the university. Since it was on the way to the God of Death’s church, Odin easily found the location.

Several people were already sitting inside a white pavilion. Most of them seemed to be senior students. In a ten-meter radius around the courtyard, there was no one else. Odin suspected it might be Silver Snake’s lair.

“I didn’t think you would actually come. It was Chris who send you the letter yesterday. I don’t have much hope, to be honest. Before Odin sat down, A golden-haired man sitting in front of the table opened his mouth.”

Chris? It’s probably that capped-wearing boy from yesterday. Odin remained silent while raising his brows before sitting on the man’s left side. Odin was not in a hurry to reply to him yet.

Silence descent in the pavilion. Seeing Odin had no intention of speaking, the man was slightly dissatisfied but still continued, “I’m Silver Snake Combat Club’s vice-president, Grant. I’m sure you already know why I’m looking for you today, right? In fact, I personally disliked you but I can’t pull any dirty tricks on you since our president is optimistic about you. He wanted me to talk to you no matter what, so I can only obey.” Grant was a straightforward person, he directly told Odin about his dislike of Odin.

Odin did not care about others’ thoughts about him. Since it was them trying to poach him, Odin had the upper hand. Thus, he was unhurried as he remained silent waiting for Grant to finish.

“I know you’re a member of Detroit Ground Combat Club, an ordinary member no less. It will be easy for you to change clubs. Our Silver Snake Combat Club will give you better treatment, either it’s on study or status.”

Grant was observing Odin’s expression but Odin was like a rock, no matter how much oil or salt was poured on him, he remained a deadpan expression.

“What benefits did Detroit Ground Combat Club give you? We Silver Snake can give you too!” Grant had lost some of his patience. Chris by the side placed his hand on Grant’s shoulder, pressing Grant onto the bench.

Feeling the numbness from his shoulder, Grant calmed down and began to talk about conditions with Odin.

“Nothing, I volunteer to help them, it’s unrelated to this.” Odin smiled and finally spoke.

“Don’t act all high and mighty. If there isn’t any promise, why would you help a nameless club? Stop joking.” In Grant’s view, the man sitting in front of him was a liar, a greedy liar. It was a wonder what the president saw in him.

“If you mean promising something, then there is one. Among the first-ranked prizes had a Life Emblem, that’s the one.” Without beating any bushes, Odin directly stated it.

“The Life Emblem? Heh.” It was unknown which part poked Grant’s laugh point. The initial impatient him began laughing uncontrollably.

“Are naive or dumb? My friend, it’s impossible to give you the Life Emblem.” Finally suppressing his laughter, Grant spoke.
