Chapter 33 The Black Death Society’s Lair
Staring at the comfy chair before him, Odin felt it should be quite comfortable sitting on it. Thus, he sat on it and attempted Astral Projection.
Gradually, Odin’s body became translucent as he sensed his spirit form slowly climbing out from his physical body as if removing a shirt. During the fight, Odin hadn’t had the time to sense it, which meant it wasn’t that vivid. However, today deliberately using the Astral Projection, he could sense the sensation of the spirit leaving the physical body.
As soon as the spirit was successfully projected, Odin’s body entered the state of translucent.
To avoid anyone from noticing Odin left the dorm, he had locked his room in advance while his spirit form had left through the slit on a window he had prepared.
Since Odin was in his spirit form, right now he was floating in midair as no one was capable of seeing him unless it was someone with Astral Projection skill too. But these types of people usually were part of the Black Death Society, so everyone on the campus shouldn’t be able to see him.
Odin saw a couple of almost transparent threads hovering in midair. These threads were like a guide to a spirit being.
In general, these threads should be invisible. Even if in spirit form, one needed to discharge mental energy into the air, using it to sense the existence of these threads. Although these things appeared to be a thread, they weren’t real threads in reality. It was a form of existence that could only be discerned without any physical form.
These threads were guiding spirit beings to the spots with the densest spirit energy. One of them should be guiding the spirit beings to the Black Death Society’s lair.
After all, not everyone who learned Astral Projection was part of the Black Death Society. But, the Black Death Society hoped everyone who learned this skill could join them, becoming a member of the Black Death Society and dedicated to them.
Ordinary people would agree immediately since becoming extraordinary of the Black Death Society would gather better resources. When completing a mission, one could absorb a considerable amount of spirit energy too.
This spirit energy was beneficial to the cultivation of spirit beings. Besides, the Black Death Society would provide cultivation skills for spirit beings, such as the ice skill Odin just mastered today. Some people, who achieved Astral Projection but had no way of learning a spirit skill, might choose to join the Black Death Society, gaining new skills and powering their strength.
Sniffing the surrounding air, Odin felt the other threads gave a sensation of ethereal, it should be places concentrated with spirit energy. However, one of them seemed to be a black thread, releasing a depressing feeling. Following along the smell of this thread, it should be possible for him to locate the Black Death Society’s lair.
Concentrating on his breath, Odin carefully expanded his mental energy. After all, recklessly releasing mental strength would easily attract the hidden members of the Black Death Society on campus. That way, his pathway to their lair would have a bunch of obstacles as Odin didn’t wish to spend any extra effort.
Following the translucent black thread, Odin floated to one of the woods outside the campus.
He was mentally prepared, as long as there were too many people on the other side, Odin would return the same way he arrived.
After floating around for another three or four hours, Odin finally reached the end of the woods.
At the end of the woods was a cliff. The cliff was grassless, brimmed with black-colored rocks. The entire place was solemn and somewhat eerie.
A pitch-black house stood upon the cliff. The entire house was painted in black without any traces of color mixed within it, just pure black. The four corners of the roof were arched with a statue of a huge black crow perched on it. The crows had a pair of ruthless eyes, fiercely staring at the four cardinal directions as if being alive.
The house was ominous and inauspicious. Right at the top of the house was a murder of crows circling. The odd thing was these crows as if being suppressed by some unknown boundary, weren’t cawing at all except just circling on top of the house. Observing for a slight while, Odin realized the speed of every circle done by the crows was constant as if being programmed to do so.
The house was enormous, in fact, it could be counted as a double-story villa. What was weird was, Odin failed to find the main entrance after circling the house. It was as if deliberately asking people to climb in through the window.
Holding his breath, Odin withdrew his mental energy and slipped in through a crack in the window on the second floor.
Odin made his round on the second floor, surprisingly, there was no one. There were numerous rooms on the second floor, there was even a parlor. However, no one was around as though everyone went out to carry out some mission.
Going down to the first floor, Odin finally heard someone’s voice.
“What kind of mission do you think for so many people to be dispatched this time? Now there are only a couple of us left in this mansion. There’s nothing wrong, right?” It was a slightly young male’s voice.
“It’s that vessel.” This time, it was a slightly old man’s voice with disdain.
Hiding in a corner, Odin twitched his mouth when he heard the word ‘vessel’. As expected, they were talking about him.
“That vessel? The one for Crow God’s descent? What’s the problem?” The young male’s words evidently showed he was a newbie since he sounded like he didn’t know anything.
“I’ve told you to pay more attention to the news.” The old man sounded helpless. “Before this, numerous people were dispatched to capture this vessel but all of them failed. Even last night, a small squad of four was sent but they were wiped out instead, letting that vessel escape. The higher-ups were fuming, so they sent virtually everyone in the HQ to surround Blue Vine University. Now there’s only us remaining here. It’s not a big problem since Adolf is here.” The old man explained.
Odin, who was all ears by the side, almost jolted up in excitement. The heavens were aiding him as he thought no one was in the mansion, so he couldn’t search for anything important. However, judging from the old man’s words just now, there were barely any people around, and the only troublesome person around was the one named Adolf. Wasn’t this once in a lifetime opportunity?!
The problem was due to his sudden emotional fluctuation, Odin failed to properly control his mental strength and Qi energy, instantly revealing his position.
“Who’s there?!” Shouting all of a sudden, the young man dashed toward the corner of the stairway.
Since Odin was exposed, there was no reason for him to hide anymore.
