Chapter 48 Adrian

Odin looked at Adrian’s astonished expression before helplessly laughing, “That’s indeed the case. In fact, I also figured it was unlikely to happen. When I went through the possible career for our major, no one was assigned to work in a faraway place.”

“Looks like you’re still in the dark?” Adrian’s expression turned solemn. He thought Odin was informed, but judging from Odin’s expression and reaction just now, Odin was unaware of anything. There certainly was a problem lying around.

“I’ve attended the work regarding the allocation of graduates before.” Adrian’s tone was heavy as he spoke to Odin.

“Hm? There’s such work?” It was Odin’s first time hearing such a work. If he knew, he would have joined as well. He could have a brief understanding of how the allocation worked.

But a while ago, he was targeted by Black Society to the point he was too busy and missed such information.

“That’s right, the campus had released the news before. They wanted the students to help organize the data. I felt it might be useful for my future career, so I went and helped out. It just so happened that day was the day you were detained by the police due to Chris. So you missed the news.” Adrian slowed down his pace and sternly brought out this matter to Odin.

“I saw your data during that time.” The moment Adrian spoke this, he halted his footsteps. As his voice became low, Odin also stopped as well while looking at him with a nervous face.

“At that time, the work assignment written on your data wasn’t to the western town. You know everyone had three recommended careers, right? I recalled one of them was government related and the other was army related. I’m not sure about the third one but it certainly isn’t the mayor of the western town or something similar.” Adrian’s voice became even softer as though afraid of their surroundings people were eavesdropping.

“What?!” Odin certainly suspected the possibility of someone targeting him, hence secretly switching his career. However, he didn’t expect it to be real.

“So, you really don’t know.” Adrian let out a sigh. The worst-case scenario he was worried about did occur.

“I also suspect there’s such a possibility, yet I feel I’m just overthinking. But, what’s their purpose in doing so?” Odin was rather perplexed.

Adrian lowered and pondered before abruptly staring at Odin. With a solemn expression, he uttered the words one by one, “Are you involved with Black Death Society in some way?”

Unbeknownst to Odin Adrian would mention the Black Death Society. As suspicion was born within his heart, he didn’t answer right away. Instead, he stammered with uncertainty, “P-p-probably.”

Odin didn’t wish for too many people to be involved with the matter of Black Death Society. The fewer people who knew about this, the better. After all, it was uncertain whether or not those who knew would be struck by the Black Death Society or spied on by the church.

In any case, Odin didn’t want to bring unnecessary trouble to Adrian.

“I’ve heard that in the western town, there’s a lot of Black Death Society’s forces. Maybe they want to hurt you.” The more Adrian spoke, the more he felt that was the case. His gaze towards Odin became worried.

“Alright, I understood. Thanks.” Despite saying such words, his heart begged to differ.

According to the Black Death Society’s usual acts, they definitely wouldn’t let Odin arrive in the west. They were unable to wait for such a long period. Usually, they would dispatch someone to kill Odin. If the first time failed, then here comes the second. If the second also failed, they would do it until they succeeded.

Besides, the members of the society didn’t carry much power on the campus as the campus was the territory of the God of Wisdom. Since Crow God was an unorthodox god, the campus definitely wouldn’t acknowledge it and wouldn’t help the Black Death Society’s members.

Therefore, the one who was targeting Odin this time was the church. However, Odin was unable to pinpoint which church and also couldn’t determine who was targeting him. Not to mention the purpose of doing so.

Before everything was made clear, he wasn’t going to say much lest it involved innocent people.

“Sigh, what’s the point of saying this now?” Adrian heaved out a deep sigh and continued walking forward. “You’ve already agreed to the career allocation, and the campus has lodged the relevant documents. Demanding an explanation from the campus now is futile. Most importantly, I can’t help you to testify. Because when we were helping to organize the data, the teacher said all of this are personal information. Everyone had signed an agreement, and any leakage of information is to be held accountable. I’m sorry, I can’t even help you on this matter.” Lowering his head, Adrian had a frustrated look.

“It’s fine, why are you apologizing? It wasn’t you the one who sent me to the western town. I should be thanking you instead. If it wasn’t for you, I might still be in the dark.” Looking at the disheartened Adrian, Odin wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry. Why was he the one consoling instead?

“Oh, that’s right! There is still something I have to tell you, maybe this can help you.” Adrian suddenly slapped his thigh, jolting Odin up.

“What is it?” Odin turned his head sideways and glanced at Adrian with beaming eyes.

“There’s a hidden trail near the campus. Passing through this trail, you can see a black market hidden behind an abandoned factory. I once went there with a senior, it was extremely concealed. Unless a regular was guiding you, it’s virtually impossible to find it. I have some matters to attend to tonight, so I can’t guide you. But I can draw a detail map for you.” Adrian spoke while pulling a notebook and a pen out from his beg. He sat on a bench before drawing the map for Odin.

Standing next to Adrian, Odin was watching him drawing and had a rough understanding of the direction. However, it certainly was very concealed. Without this map and Adrian’s explanation, Odin might never have discovered there was a black market in this place.

“Look, here it is.” Fearing wasting time, Adrian hurriedly drew the map with a few strokes before double-checking to make sure he drew correctly.

“When you enter through this entrance, you can see the factory. You must remember not to turn right immediately, or else you won’t find anything.” Adrian spoke in a cryptic tone with a slight excitement on his face.
